“What happened?”

When I opened my eyes I was in my room. I'm pretty sure that wasn't where I fell asleep but somehow I ended up here.

“How the hell did I get here?” Ethan babbled as he woke up.

It seemed to me like I wasn't the only one who went through something crazy, I wish that was our only problem m but there was more.

My neck felt stiffened and very uncomfortable, something cold and metallic was around it.

"Hey Ethan," I called for his attention but I did not need to explain the situation to him as he instantly reacted with widened eyes and I did as well.

"The hell is that collar?" I asked.

I was pretty sure it was the same thing on his neck that was on mine. It was exactly like a dog collar save the designs and small screen at the from and back.

"This is just getting messed up, now they want to treat us as animals this time? What do they see us as?" Ethan flared.

“I don’t know about you but something tells me things are about to get intense,” I said to him

“I can't believe that jerk gets to live without his memories, if he can't recall what he did to us then isn't that the same as letting a criminal roam free,” Austin argued with anger. His anger was understandable, I too was pissed and barely holding back from exploding however things were the way they were and there was nothing we could do about it other than to figure out our way around which wasn't going smoothly. The person I wanted to investigate was right before me, I had to revisit my plans. “Well, I still think he might be useful, there might be something, anything at all, a trace that could help us,” Tasha said. “You sure about that, I mean the last thing the school would want to do is to give us a clue about how to escape this hell hole,” I replied. Things had started to look complicated for us, our plan seemed to slowly be coming to shambles as our last hope sank like a stone, and we had arrived back at the drawing board. Just as our gathering began to turn into an a

“Well if it isn't Mr. Anderson, a pleasure to meet you, allow me to introduce myself. I am Mr. Edgar, the Principal of this prestigious school, what I'm about to tell you is quite confidential, I wouldn't like preying ears so forgive my hasty actions.”In all my life, if anyone had told me that I would be meeting with the principal of the school I would simply laugh it off and say, “The principal wouldn't want to meet with someone like myself,” and yet here I was, playing some sort of message from the principal himself. If I could put my feelings in one word then it had to be, “funny.”Surely this was a recorded message directed to me but, “why me.”“Thank you for taking out your time to play this note, Mr Anderson. I can understand just how alarmed you are but do not take this as a threat or problem the reason I am making this video is because I would like to make a deal with you.”“A deal?” I repeated. I didn't like the sound of that but it sounded tempting, I wanted to know what t

I thought he was supposed to have lost his memories or something, the thought that he may have tricked us baffled me greatly, perhaps which is why the moment the barrier between us came undone the first thing I did was to prepare my angry face, one that showed that I wasn't going to be played for a fool however-“How did it go? Did you get any message?” Dale asked. He seemed to be genuinely concerned to know what it was that happened while I was inside the barrier which made me wonder if he was faking it or not. “Enough of the suspicions,” I told myself as I turned to Dale. “Tell me,” I said, “how did you get this device?” The both of them stared at each other for a bit, and then at me, the look on their face seemed to be asking whether or not I wanted to hear about it. “Out with it you two!”“Alright fine,” Zane said, “Dale, you tell him, it isn't something I'd have the pleasure of talking about.”With a face of disgust, he turned away and moved away, it wasn't that far of a di

I dragged my legs through without any idea of where we were headed. If I dared to even stop moving I would be pushed from behind by one of the guards, all the while only one thought was on my mind. “If only I could discover more.”I hated it, how short I was on time, I had come to the point where I was hopeless, how exactly did he want me to save my classmates when I had little to no time? The scene of piled-up bodies certainly wasn't something I would have liked to see again. “Too bad he was the only one.”Suddenly something inside me clicked. I knew something inside of me perceived things differently but I had only been able to sense it now. “What if someone else was in on the whole thing?” At long last Dale” 's words had begun to make sense, the words he kept saying echoed in my head. “We,” I thought to myself. “Not I.”I knew then and there that there was still hope for this terrible situation, Dale was not working alone, perhaps this game was unavoidable but I was glad I h

Rules, or should I say excuses, excuses for them to kill us. To my greatest disarray, I had to not only figure out a way to not die but also a way to save as many people as possible. Was that possible? Probably, I wasn't sure but I had to try. I stood up, ready to take the first step in action, I made my way to the center of the room and stood. I could feel everyone staring at me, they whispered amongst themselves and probably wondered what I wanted to do, some of them didn't look pretty excited to see me and a few looked hopeful.Their intentions are crystal clear, they wanted to reach the door before anyone else, but how foolish they looked, how nervously they trembled, most of them wouldn't even last three minutes in here and might collapse right during the game. “Hello everyone,” I greeted only to be replied by the dead silence that followed after, soon everyone returned to speaking with their peers and left me like an outcast. Well, what could I say, it was what I did someho

One by one, they seized us and blind folded us once again. I couldn't tell where we were going but it was obvious it was the arena. I couldn't stop thinking about that girl, what did she have in mind? it bothered me to think I had to put my trust in her, but at this point it was better than nothing at all. At last the guards stopped marching and let go of me. I could hear my classmates around me questioning where they were but there was no reply. "Do you think they've gone?" "Where are we?" "Is the next game about to start?" The whole place buzzed with curious suspicions and yet no one dared to make the next move, that is until he did. "Argh! Dammit, it's either they say something or am doing things my way," Zane yelled. I patiently waited to know what he was up to, but what followed was a grunt, he sounded confused. I itched to know what it was, and I also feared to know the reason behind his sudden quietness. Let's say his curiousity got to me and I ended up taking off my b

As I stood upon the wall and gazed below I realized just how fucked up we were. This maze was a designed death trap by a bunch of crazy bastards, even from where I stood I could not see afar. Still, I guess I could work with this. “Alright, we’ll stick to the first plan but it'll contain a few changes.” Their brows narrowed, “huh? But don't you see-”“I know, and I get it, I'm scared too, but we can work something out. Everyone, grab a partner, let's split into groups. Each of us will take a route, from what I can see it doesn't matter what route you take you'll end up reaching the exit, but, I think there's a catch, we’d need to keep our eyes open for traps and more, so long as the right person gets to the exit then we’re good. I'd stay behind and guard everyone.”It was a good plan but something troubled me, this feeling of restlessness. Unlike other Mazes all the routes here lead to the same exit so it didn't matter what route we were to take the results would be the same that i

I knew we were fucked. Talk about a ball chasing the others from behind. Things started to get a little trickier. While navigating my classmates to the exit, I noticed a sudden movement, which caused me to lose balance. “What the hell!” I cursed out of great shock. I wasn't sure what was going on at first and decided to halt in my tracks, but it wasn't just me; Zane also desperately tried to balance himself on top of the wall and turned to me, panting heavily as if he just saw his life flashed before his eyes. “Did you see that, Ande?” He yelled. “Yeah, and I don't think we're just seeing things?” I answered. Taking the next step felt like walking on thin threads, and it was more than frightening now that the wall didn't move like a snake patiently waiting to corner us. “Is everything alright there, guys?” Our attention is called back to the competition; I glanced back at the clock, noting that we were short on time; it was now or never. We had no choice. “We're alright, in a

"We're not your enemies. We're students, too. We escaped the school just like you." I hesitated, my grip loosening. "Prove it," I demanded. "How do we know you're telling the truth?" At last they took off the mask from their faces, they looked nothing older than eighteen at most, but I wasn't going to be fooled, definitely not by their appearance especially. We pointed the guns at them, cold sweat dripped all over my face but that wasn't enough to make me tremble, at least I wouldn't allow myself to fall victim to such trickery. “No problem, no problem, I'll prove it, I'll show you that we mean no harm I swear,” the female of the group yelled. “Please, just back off with the gun a bit, that thing's dangerous and I doubt you even know how to hold them properly which makes it more dangerous.” Was she mocking us or what? I couldn't make due with it. I took a quick look at her and her colleagues behind us. They didn't seem to have any sort of weapon on them and they didn't retali

I could hardly believe my eyes at first, but that was the honest truth apparently, and just like that, we had finally escaped the school, but freedom felt like a distant memory as we trudged through the arid landscape. Where we would go from here, that was the next question. Amid the celebration and excitement from my classmates I looked around, something didn't feel right, not in the slightest, but what was it? Suddenly, it occurred to me to look ahead as if I surveyed the land. "Does anyone have a binocular?" I asked. "A binoculars? I think I got one while we were escaping, it was amongst the staff gadgets," someone said. At once it struck me. Why exactly would they need such in the first place? The more I puzzled about this uneasy feeling the more restless I felt. The girl handed over the device with a bothered look on her face. I grabbed hold of the device and peered through. Scanning- Scanning- The coast looked clear, crystal clear however, what was this cloud of dus

"We have to go," Chris said to me, his hand upon my shoulder. Yes, there was somewhere we had to be and I refused to let anything come in the way of my freedom, not even myself. Chris and I rejoin the others. The students from the lab are gathered, their faces etched with a mixture of fear and anticipation. They couldn't possibly reject me and I knew that, I was one of them and they were just like me, we had the same substance or whatever it was that was put in me running through their veins, they couldn't possibly bail on me. "Ande," one of them says, her voice tinged with relief. "We've been trying to make sense of what happened back there."As I explain what I found in the lab and the chip I retrieved, their expressions shift from confusion to horror."So they were trying to turn us into desti

There is a dismembered hand lying on the floor, partially obscured by the doorway. My stomach lurches at the gruesome sight, bile rising in my throat. The skin is pale, the fingers contorted, and there's still fresh blood pooling around it. I freeze, my eyes fixed on the grisly scene.Ethan and the others hadn't noticed it by the looks of things, their focus probably only on getting into the school undetected. But I can't tear my gaze away. Something about the hand catches my eye - it appears to be clutching a small electronic device, a tablet of some kind. Swallowing hard, I slowly approach the severed limb. I need to get a closer look. Crouching down, I carefully pry the fingers open and retrieve the tablet, wincing at the sticky, warm sensation of the blood on my skin. My heart is pounding as I examine the device, realizing it's emitting some kind of frequency. An idea struck. Quickly, I pull out my jammer and connect it to the tablet, grinning as I gain access to the video.
