“I’m sorry, but you seem to have made a mistake. I’m not who you’re looking for,” Alexander said firmly, his voice cold and unwavering.

The elderly man with the white beard took a step closer, his gaze filled with something between relief and disbelief.

“Master Caspian, even after ten years, I would never forget your face,” he said, his tone reverent, as if addressing royalty.

Alexander clenched his jaw. “My name is Alexander! Now get lost.”

The old man’s eyes softened with a mix of sadness and understanding. His name was Geoffrey, and he had once served as Caspian’s butler. Time had added lines to his face, but his loyalty seemed unshakable.

Geoffrey studied Alexander carefully, noting how different he looked from the young master he had once known—thinner, his hair slightly disheveled, and his demeanor hardened. But the eyes, Geoffrey thought, those eyes told the true story.

“Master Caspian,” Geoffrey said with a small, hopeful smile, bowing his head slightly. “I know it’s you. You cannot hide from me.”

“I told you already, my name is Alexander!,” Alexander retorted, his voice sharp.

“The Caspian you’re looking for is long dead."

Geoffrey hesitated but pressed on. “But, Master Caspian… you’re needed back at home.”

Alexander’s expression darkened, anger and disbelief flashing across his face.

“I’m needed!?” he repeated bitterly. “You mean by the same family that threw my mother out onto the street like she was trash?”

Geoffrey’s face fell. “We’re… I am… truly sorry. If I could have helped her, I would have. But her banishment was beyond my power.”

Alexander let out a cold, humorless laugh.

“Oh yes, my dear father. Tell me, did he send you to drag his ‘bastard son’ back home? Or is he too ashamed to acknowledge me even now? Does he even know you’re here?”

Geoffrey looked down, his voice heavy with sorrow. “Your father… is dead.”

Alexander froze, the wind momentarily knocked out of him.

For every sentence Geoffrey had uttered, he’d had a retort ready, but this news hit him like a blow.

His father—dead? It was a strange feeling, a complex tangle of hatred, bitterness, and… something else he couldn’t quite name.

He had wished for years to confront the man who had made his mother’s life a living hell. Now, that chance had slipped away.

“How did he die?” Alexander managed, his voice strained. He caught himself and shook his head. “You know what? I don’t even want to know. Just leave.”

Geoffrey’s voice was quiet but persistent. “Master Caspian…”

“My name is Alexander, and I am not your master.” His eyes were like steel as he stared Geoffrey down.

“And the next time you call me that, I swear I’ll cut out your tongue and feed it to stray dogs.”

A flash of pain crossed Geoffrey’s face, but he nodded, bowing his head. He had spent years searching for the young master he’d once served, but he now realized that the Caspian he had known was long gone.

“Very well,” Geoffrey said, his voice a mixture of resignation and sadness.

“I apologize for the intrusion. Here is my card, should you wish to reach me.” He handed Alexander a small card with his contact information.

Alexander snatched the card and turned to leave, but Geoffrey called after him.

“Your mother!!… What would she have wanted you to do?”

Alexander stopped, his back to Geoffrey. He didn’t turn around, but his voice was filled with anger and sorrow.

“After what he did to her, she would have wanted me to kill him myself.”

Without another word, he walked away, leaving Geoffrey standing alone in the rain, holding onto a memory of a young boy who no longer existed.

---

As Alexander walked through the dim streets, he tried to shake off the encounter, but Geoffrey’s words echoed in his mind. “Your mother… what would she have wanted you to do?”

His mother.... The one person who had shown him unconditional love, who had shielded him from the cruelty of the world, until she herself became a victim of it.

He stopped walking and looked up at the cloudy sky, raindrops beginning to fall and mix with the shadows of his memories.

.....

The old man was right. In the past, a past too distant and painful to remember, he used to be Caspian Alexander Chase, heir to the Stellar Nebula Conglomerate, one of the world’s wealthiest families.

His future had been bright, his life mapped out with luxury and privilege. But it all crumbled when his mother was banished from the Chase family, cast out without a second thought.

Alexander left his life and searched for her, desperately and angry. And when he finally found her, she was in a hospital bed, battling cancer.

By then, he had little left, having exhausted his funds in his search for her. That was when he met Luther Lockwood, Seraphina’s father, under an unusual circumstance.

Luther offered him a deal: he would cover all of his mother’s medical bills if Alexander agreed to marry his daughter, Seraphina.

Desperate to save his mother, Alexander had accepted. Thanks to Luther, his mother lived for three more years. But those years passed quickly, and he lost her in the end.

Since then, he had cut all ties with the Chase family, vowing never to return, to live his life as Alexander Chase and bury Caspian Chase forever.

---

Lost in thought, Alexander realized he had reached home. The sight of Seraphina’s car in the driveway told him she was back. He barely had time to take off his shoes when a sharp slap struck his cheek.

“How dare you humiliate my daughter in front of Lady Lockwood, you worthless rat!”

It was Caroline, his mother-in-law, the constant thorn in his side. Caroline had never accepted him as Seraphina’s husband and blamed him for everything wrong in her daughter’s life. To her, Alexander was a disgrace, a stain on the family’s reputation.

“Mother!” Seraphina’s voice cut through the tension as she rushed over to pull Alexander back.

“Why do you keep defending this gutter trash? Do you realize he’s bringing shame upon us? You deserve better, Seraphina! When will you listen to me and divorce him?”

“Mother, I’ve told you a thousand times—I will never divorce Alexander.”

“And I will not rest until you come to your senses”, Caroline snapped.

“Mother, it’s late. Alexander and I need to get some rest. I have a busy day tomorrow,” Seraphina said firmly, leading Alexander into their room.

---

Inside their bedroom, Seraphina sighed and looked at him.

“Thank you,” Alexander muttered.

She raised an eyebrow, her expression softening.

“You’re welcome. But, Alexander, would it kill you to keep that sharp tongue of yours under control?”

He smirked slightly. “Understood.”

“Good,” she said, settling into her side of the bed.

“Okay, do you need me to get your wardrobe choice," Alexander replied, confused.

"I said 'you,' not 'me,' I wasn’t invited, I was only asked to extend the invitation," Seraphina clarified.

"What? On whose invite?" Alexander exclaimed in disbelief.

Who would invite him to a banquet?

“Jacob Harrington” Seraphina replied.

“What!!” Alexander exclaimed in disbelief. Why would the King of Diamond himself extend an invitation to him?

Alexander’s eyes widened. “What?! Jacob Harrington? The King of Diamonds?”

Seraphina nodded. “Yes. And apparently, he specifically requested your presence.”

Alexander lay back, staring at the ceiling, his mind racing. Why would the most powerful man in the diamond industry want anything to do with him?

After persistent persuasion from Seraphina, Alexander finally caved in and agreed to attend the Diamond Banquet. It was an invitation he hadn’t expected and, frankly, didn’t want. But with Seraphina’s insistence and curiosity gnawing at him about why Jacob Harrington, the King of Diamonds himself, would invite him, Alexander found himself in a tailored suit, entering the grand hall alone. The entrance was a showcase of opulence, designed to awe even the wealthiest of guests. Twin marble staircases, draped with fresh white lilies and roses, spiraled upward, leading to intricately carved double doors flanked by torches held in ornate brass sconces. The soft hum of a string quartet filled the air, mingling with the laughter and murmured conversations of the elite. Crystal chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow across the room and creating a labyrinth of light on the polished marble floors. As Alexander stepped into the banquet hall, he felt a pang of

The crowd at the Diamond Banquet stood frozen, their collective breath caught in disbelief. Every gaze was locked on the scene unfolding at the bar. Jacob Harrington, the King of Diamonds himself, was shaking hands with Alexander Chase, the live-in son-in-law of the Lockwood family. Whispers rippled through the banquet like wildfire. "Why would Jacob Harrington know him?" "Is he someone important we don’t know about?" "Impossible. That man is just a leech living off the Lockwoods. There’s no way Jacob Harrington would associate with someone like that." Julian Monroe, still sitting at the bar, watched with a mix of shock and fury as Jacob Harrington ignored him entirely. For a man like Julian, used to being the center of attention, it was nothing short of humiliating. “Alexander Chase, I wasn’t sure you’d make it,” Jacob greeted him warmly, shaking Alexander’s hand firmly. His voice carried across the room, silencing the whispers for a brief moment. Alexander returned the hands

As Alexander left the banquet, “Maybe they are not all the same after all”, Alexander thought to himself about his meeting with Jacob Harrington as he walked down the dimly lit streets of Billiard Maze Avenue. It was aptly named for its labyrinthine intersections and dead ends. The sky above was pitch black, a perfect backdrop for the unsettling silence that crept along the deserted road. Alexander’s footsteps echoed faintly, but the sound wasn’t solitary. Someone was following him—he could feel it. His instincts had been honed through years of hardship, and every fiber of his being screamed that he was being watched. He paused and glanced over his shoulder, catching a fleeting glimpse of a shadow slipping into the darkness. Alexander’s jaw tightened. Persistent. He took the next left turn, quickening his pace, but the shadow reappeared at the next intersection. Another turn, then another—each corner only revealed more pursuers, silently closing in like wolves circling their p

The next day, Alexander woke up a bit later than usual. His wife, Seraphina, had already left for work, and Caroline, his mother-in-law, must not have slept in at the house. If she had, Alexander would surely have been woken up with a rain of curses and beatings for sleeping a second longer than four hours. Starting his daily chores, Alexander, being a live-in house husband, embarked on his routine: cleaning, sweeping, arranging the house, and cooking. Amidst his tasks, he found a note on the table with folded cash beside it. "We are out of milk, go to the store and get some," it read. It had to be from Seraphina. Alexander swiftly cleaned up and dashed to the nearest supermarket. The sky was cloudy, and as he walked, he couldn't shake off the feeling of being followed yet again. This time, he halted abruptly. "Exactly how long do you plan on stalking me?" he said. Suddenly, two men merged from the shadows behind him, and in a matter of seconds, he was surrounded by seven of them.

Looking down at the world from his top corner office, Wilson Monroe observed the societal hierarchy in its natural order: the poor cowering in fear, those of similar status getting along, and the wealthiest vying for the top spot. Everyone seemed to find their place without much effort. “Sir, we have a situation,” his assistant Vanessa's voice came through his earpiece. “What is it?” He inquired. “We just received word that the Floating Mary K9 has capsized and been destroyed,” she reported. “What happened?” The kingpin asked, puzzled. “We're yet to confirm, but it seems like tidal waves,” Vanessa replied. “Tidal waves?” The kingpin's disbelief was obvious. “Yes, Sir,” Vanessa confirmed. The Floating Mary was a top container ship for Monroe Logistics; a simple tidal wave shouldn’t have been able to take it down. “Alright, calculate our losses and contact the insurance company,” Kingpin instructed. “Copy that, Sir.” Despite the loss of the Floating Mary, Monroe Logistics stil

Despite the buzz of the Kingpin tragic fall, another multi-billion-dollar company, Maverick Corporation, seven times bigger than Monroe Logistics, flooded the Pantheon Valley media headlines with their hundred-billion-dollar contract up for grab by a construction company. Every construction-based corporation went on their toes, eager to make a move, pulling every string in their guitar case to secure this contract. The Lockwood Family was one of them. Lady Charlotte Lockwood knew that collaborating with a company as big as Maverick's would open many doors for the entire family. It would increase Lockwood’s societal ranking, and elevate their family status. She called for an urgent family mee

After a long first day at Maverick Cooperation, Alexander returned home in the evening. He would have stayed longer, but he had to accompany his wife to the Lockwood meeting. Entering the house, Alexander walked into a heated conversation between his wife, Seraphina, and her mother.“Alexander is a useless pauper of a husband who hasn't a single penny to his name and is of no good to you. Why wouldn’t you just divorce him? You are better offers,” her mother argued.“Mother, we've been over this. I have always had better offers, I always will, and I will always choose Alexander every single time,” Seraphina countered.“Alexander, where have you been? You were supposed to be back hours ago,” Seraphina asked.“I’m sorry, I got held up,” Alexander replied.“It’s fine, let’s go. We are already running late,” Seraphina urged.“Don’t you dare walk out on me, Alexander? You are going to divorce my daughter and allow her to marry Ethan Bishop, someone much more qualified to be her husband,” he

For a man who wielded power and influence so effortlessly, his humility was almost startling. Archie couldn’t help but contrast Alexander with Daniel Lockwood, who possessed much less power yet flaunted it shamelessly. It was a striking irony that lingered with him.Outside, in his car, Alexander composed a message to Seraphina:“Seraphina, Lady Charlotte will call soon and offer you the project head position for the Maverick contract. Caroline shot Happy a venomous glare. How dare she greet me like we’re friends, she thought, remembering the heartbreak Happy had caused her son, Shay. The only thing they shared was a mutual disdain for Alexander. “Happy, what the hell are you doing here?” Caroline asked, her voice dripping with scorn. “What the hell does it look like I’m doing here?
