DAMIAN ALMOST let go of his phone upon hearing those words. Fortunately, he was able to regain his composure as he fixed his stance, holding onto the phone tighter. “I will go there now.”

He ended the call afterward and brought back the phone to Jarred.

“What happened—” Jarred was about to ask, but Damian wasn’t able to answer him anymore as he ran outside the convenience store and went to the hospital where his parents were located.

As soon as he arrived, Damian went to the morgue and saw the nurse whom he talked with earlier.

“Are you Reina and Ren Smith’s son?” the nurse asked, her tone low.

“Yes.” Damian nodded.

“THAT IS great. We hope for your fast recovery, Sir,” said the doctor in a polite tone. “We will go now so you can take a rest. I will send one of my nurses here if we find some problems.”“Alright.” Damian nodded. “Thank you for your hard work.”“We are just doing our jobs.”The doctor along with his two nurses left afterward, leaving Damian alone with Leo and Thaliana. However, it doesn’t change the fact that he still feels anxious about his sudden gush of memory earlier.“Young master?” Thaliana called, snapping Damian back to reality. “Is something bothering you? You have been staring at the wall for a long time.”“No. I just remembered something,” Damian answered, shaking his head. His answer was short since he wanted to end the topic as soon as possible. And since Thaliana noticed it, she didn’t respond anymore. However, she remembered the first question Damian asked her when he woke up. ‘Why would the young master think he is in the morgue?’ Thaliana thought, her brows furro

"I DO, but I'm about to stop.”Damian’s brows furrowed in confusion. “Why? Aren’t the treatments suitable for your needs anymore?”“It’s not like that.” Dollie shook her head and waved her hands. “Doctor Caroline said I’m getting better these past few weeks. It’s also been a long time since I had an anxiety attack.”“Wow. That’s good news,” Damian replied, genuine happiness evident in his tone. “It seems like you have already found the reason for your anxiety attacks.”“It took me a while before I realized that it is not about them,” Dollie answered, intentionally pausing as she smiled. “It is all about me.”Dollie has been living in the Medivien Mansion until now—the same place she chose to escape from because it brings bad experiences and memories—yet no one could make her feel the same fear she had before. She now can fight for herself, and like Damian, she has people on her side now, too. Dollie also got tons of compliments upon handling one of Medivien Corporation’s subsidiaries

“CONGRATULATIONS on this new milestone, Damian. The Medivien family are so proud of you,” said Cielo, his words warm, but his tone cold and pretentious. “You had so many achievements for a short time, even more than what everyone expected.”“Thank you,” Damian replied, trying to act neutral despite the confusion about why Cielo suddenly approached him. “I will go now. You can continue with your other businesses, too.”Damian was about to walk away as he didn’t have any plans on making the conversation longer. However, before he could even leave, Cielo talked to him again.“You know that we, the Medivien family, always have good offers on valuable students after graduation, right?” Cielo asked.“Yes,” Damian answered politely and nodded. “Usually, it was job offers locally and internationally, but I know that everyone here is aware that I have a job in the Ferremento Corporation now.”Cielo raised an eyebrow for a moment, thinking that Damian was bragging about his employment. “I know,

A FEW days after the graduation, Cielo’s secretary sent the sample contract for Damian to check. As Damian read it, he requested some modifications to which Cielo agreed. It didn’t take a long time for them to reach an agreement, and Damian already signed the contract at Cielo’s office in the Medivien Corporation.“Welcome to the Food Fusion Diner, Damian,” said Cielo warmly, extending his hand toward Damian. “I know three months isn’t a long time, but I hope you will showcase your skills here like you are a full-time employee.”“Don’t worry. I will,” Damian replied, smiling. “It is my pleasure to work in this company, too.”“That’s great.” Cielo smiled back, and satisfaction was evident in his expression. “You may go to the company tomorrow. One of my people is waiting for you outside, and she will explain to you the basics so you can go straight to work tomorrow.”“Alright. Thank you.” Damian nodded and left Cielo’s office afterward. As soon as Damian closed the door, Cielo’s preten

“I’M SORRY, young master, but that is the only thing I can tell you,” Hera replied apologetically. “I told you that you can ask me for a favor anytime, yet here I am, declining it. My apologies, young master.”“If the task you are doing right now is Father’s command, then I understand,” Damian assured her. “I can ask you for this favor again once you are done, right?”“Yes, young master. I will take care of it as soon as I’m done,” said Hera without hesitation.“That’s great.” Damian smiled. “Now, focus on your task and just inform me when you are free.”Damian ended the call afterward. He wanted to ask more questions about who was trying to breach the Ferremento family’s security system. However, if Hera didn’t want to tell him about it, then it means the order came from Veron.‘There might be a reason why Father was trying to hide this from me. Maybe he doesn't want me to worry, or it could be something else. But I trust him,’ said Damian at the back of his mind. ‘Since Hera is busy

DAMIAN'S EXPRESSION went dark upon hearing those words, making Cielo’s smirk widen. As he took Damian in one of his subsidiaries before, his plan isn’t to check Damian’s capabilities but to trap him in his hands.‘It is such a waste of talent if Damian would be in the Ferremento Corporation, especially since we were the ones who honed his skills,’ Cielo thought, remembering that Damian graduated from Medivien University. ‘Using the employment contract he signed, he won’t be able to go back to the Ferremento Corporation anymore, and he will work here for the rest of his life.’“Why are you silent? Do you realize that you can’t do anything about this now?” Cielo asked in a mocking tone. “Written documents bear a heavier weight as evidence in law than verbal words, so even if you say that we agreed upon making you a part-time employee, you can’t fight against this.” Cielo took the document from Damian’s hands. “You better do the task I assigned to you, or else you won’t like the consequ

“I KNOW how smart and capable you are and that you aren’t executing plans without calculating the risks. However, you still need to be careful. Not everything will work out in your favor.” Those words lingered in Damian’s mind until now, and his heart thumped rapidly, thinking that something wrong might happen in the future. But he chose to ignore them, especially when he saw where he was. Damian is in the hospital, specifically in Caroline Nelson’s room. “Hey, Damian,” Caroline greeted, her tone warm and confused at the same time. “You don’t have a schedule for the consultation today. Did something happen?” She pointed at the chair in front of her. “Anyway, have a seat, please.” Damian nodded and obliged. “I’m not here for my consultation. I’m here to talk to you about Dollie Medivien.” He looked from left to right, confirming something. “You don’t have any patients for now, right? So, can you spare me a few minutes?” “Sure,” Caroline agreed. “I also want to talk to Dollie’s guar

“Y-YES. I understand,” Caroline replied, nodding repeatedly as she immediately got intimidated by Damian’s gaze. “No one will know about this. Dollie Medivien deserves to live peacefully in her young age.”Caroline looked at the hospital room with a sad gaze. She stayed in this room, treating patients for a long time, and she already created so many memories in this place.Too bad, she needs to let everything go now. It was also the way to fulfill the promise she told Damian.“I will go now before Sir Carson finds out what I did,” Caroline told herself as she fixed her things—only the important ones

THE lights were flickering, adding tension in the air, as Damian entered the warehouse alone. He doesn’t have any guns or other weapons with him, nor he didn’t call anyone like Carter instructed.Damian was on high alert as he continued walking when suddenly, two men wearing full black clothes started to approach him with their guns.‘Fuck,’ cursed Damian at the back of his mind, seeing how helpless he was right now.Especially after seeing Ava tied to the chair, his mouth gagged, while Catela is sleeping in the crib beside her.Despite the situation, he couldn’t give up. Damian needed to save himself along with Ava and Catela and end this fight with Carter so it wouldn’t repeat. The two men tied Damian’s hands and feet to the chair, but unlike Ava, they didn’t gag him.“It is so unusual to see how obedient you are. I never thought you could do it,” Carter, who appeared from the shadows, smirked upon seeing Damian being helpless. “That’s right. They will always be safe as long as you

“That was not enough for all the bullshit you did to me before. But for now, let’s call it even," Damian said.Carson only shook his head as he wiped the blood on his lips before leaving the house. And the only thing that was running through his mind was how strong Damian’s punch was… before until now.THE NEXT morning, Carson didn’t just confess what he did to the board members, but he conducted a press conference to publicly apologize to Damian. He knew that Damian deserved to clear his name and regain his reputation, and although his public apology wasn’t enough, he still did it to show his sincerity.“Starting today, Carson Ferremento is now terminated as the CEO, and will face two years of suspension because of him ruining the Ferremento Corporation’s reputation,” Piper announced, her tone colder than usual. “The position will go back to Damian Giovanni Ferremento.”Carson smiled sadly, but he knew he needed to accept the consequences of his actions. However, since Damian had a

He told you that even though you have a husband?” Carson asked, his teeth gritting.“Well, this is just an arranged marriage, and he knows it.” Ava shrugged. “To be honest, I would marry a man like him although he isn’t the richest, than stay with a puppet like you, who only knows how to follow someone else—”“Here,” Carson interjected, giving Ava the signed papers. “I will let you take Catela because I need to deal with something, but I will take her away from you once I'm done.”“Hah. As if I will let you do that.” Ava scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Thank you for this, Carson. Catela will benefit so much from this.”And as if Ava was waiting for this to happen, when she went again to their bedroom to take Catela, she already had her luggage with her and was talking to someone.“Yes, he already signed the divorce paper, and I’m all set…” Ava said, smiling from ear to ear. “Oh, your bodyguard is outside the house already? After Carter went out of the house unnoticed, that was the only time Carson could breathe properly. He didn’t even realize he was suppressing his breath because of fear.‘Is that really the brother I used to be with ever since I was a child?’ Carson thought, his heart racing, as he leaned into a tree. ‘We are family. Why would he threaten me like that? Is the company and the organization more important to him than me?’And upon asking himself that question, Carson got his answer. Carter wouldn’t mind killing everyone who would be a hindrance to his plans, and he is not an exemption. His gaze went to the house—Something he had because of Carter. Everything he had was him, not giving Carson any chance to carve out his own identity. He was only known for his surname, and for all his careless actions when he was in teenager days. The only thing he had that wasn’t connected with Carter was Dollie, whom he took for granted, and now his family; Ava, his wife, and Catela, their child.“Ava,”

It was someone he thought he would never talk with again.“Veron,” Charlie Wiles, the CEO of the Legion Mercenaries, called. “It has been a long time, huh? What do you need this time?”“I have to ask you for a favor,” Veron replied.“A favor?” Charlie raised an eyebrow. “If it is about our operations, I’m sorry, but I need to decline. You know that we can’t take clients in other countries other than Colossia, right?”“I know that. You are not taking me as a dumb person, aren’t you?” Veron shot back, his voice laced with irritation now. “I need someone I trust to do this task for me, and I’m willing to pay any amount you want for it.”“Any amount, huh? Talking to rich people is different.” Charlie chuckled on the other line, yet he became serious afterward. “But alright, deal. It was you who messed up with the data. How could you?”Carson’s smirk widened. He didn’t answer. Instead, he stood proudly in the middle with his arms folded.“I’m not here because of the shitty things you accuse me of, but because I have given the board of directors a proposal strategy that you can’t provide.” Carson slid the document in front of Damian. “Here. “Young master,” James, whom Damian called, answered on the other line. “Young master Carson is still doing his old routine; working in his office the whole day and going home afterward.”“How certain are you?” Damian asked.James’ brows furrowed, but he still answered in a polite tone, “I’m always monitoring him, young master. I didn’t even let him out of my sight.”“I know, but something might have happened that slipped your notice,” Damian said, his tone low and serious. “The Ferremento Corporation is in chaos right now, and I’m sure Carson is involved with it. I need you to think carefully.”James obliged. The tip of his brows pressed harder on each other upon recalling the surveillance, and his lips widened as he remembered something.“There was one incident. A few days ago, Miss Ava Medivien bumped into me and caused a commotion. For a moment, I lost sight of young master Carson’s office,” confessed James. “But it was only for a few seconds.”“And that is the only amount of time t
