UPON hearing Damian’s answer, Carter’s mind went back to that day. A rival organization of the Ferremento mafia suddenly attacked them, and everyone was shocked and anxious because no one didn’t even expect it.

It was horrible. Blood was splashing to the floor. Countless people were screaming as they were being killed. Gone was the peaceful environment in the mansion, already filled with chaos.

“Ah! Carter! T-They are going to kill us!” Carson shouted, his body trembling in fear. “W-What are we going to do now—I’m scared!”

Carson immediately shouted and placed both hands on his ear upon hearing the fights of the people near them. Carson was never fond of violence, neither was Carter. However, Carter could tolerate it as he was trained in the mafia at a young age.

“Close your eyes. I will guide you out of this place.” Carter went in front of Carson and made Carson hold his hands. “Follow me. We need to find Dad quickly.”

Despite being afraid, Carson obliged. He closed his eyes and let

Something was bothering him… The person who was trying to take his life was someone who knew all his routines, including his whereabouts.‘It wasn’t Anya, but that person could use her to hurt me,’ Damian thought as he stared at the plants in their garden, thinking deeply. ‘I won’t let that happen.’“Damian! I have been looking for you!” Anya exclaimed, causing Damian to look at him. “Look at this. The annual charity gala will happen in a few days! This is the first time you will att

And you didn’t have a choice? That is ridiculous.”“I-I’m sorry, Sir Damian! Please forgive me!” Catelyn said again, her tone desperate, as she clung both her hands to Damian’s leg. “I-I will do anything you ask! For real!”“Hmmm. That’s great.” Damian ligh

A FEW hours later, Damian and Anya were already at the Apricot Hotel, a famous five-star hotel in the country, along with the other guests.Damian knew some of them; they were VIP members of the Ferremento mafia. But to protect their privacy and even the organization, they acted casually to each other, yet they bowed their heads to Damian discreetly, discreetly showing respect.“This is your first time attending the annual charity gala. Can you share with us what you feel right now?” a female reporter asked, bringing the microphone in front of Damian. “Sir Damian?” she asked again, noticing that Damian was staring at the wall.“I feel delighted since I know that this gala focuses on solving different problems in society…” Damian muttered before his gaze scanned the room. Nervousness was evident in his eyes.“Uhm, I guess that’s it. May we excuse ourselves, please?” Anya spoke this time before the bodyguards took over and protected them until they reached their assigned table, which wa

EVERYONE at the party was having the time of their lives, especially as the successful charity gala was coming to an end, yet tension arose between Anya and Damian after Luther left.Luther’s words left something in Damian’s system—Fear.“Don’t mind him. He is just obsessed with organizing things, maybe because he wanted their company for too long, yet his parents gave the Hellion Corporation to Penelope,” Anya explained, keeping a low tone. “And… He also liked me, but I never reciprocated that feeling.”“I know.” Damian smiled and caressed Anya’s shoulder lightly. “I was just shocked at how he approached us like we were committing a crime for leaving.”“He had a point, though. Just a few minutes after the speeches, and we can go. So, maybe we should stay a bit?” Anya asked. It was the opposite of what Damian wanted, yet he just nodded and sat on the chair again. This time, he became extra attentive. Seconds later, he felt a heavy stare on his side.‘Who could it be?’ Damian thought,

Damian bit his lower lip, hard, until it created a shallow wound. The killer was surely treating him like a puppet, controlling him using the people close to him. ‘I should take that to mind when I retaliate against this person soon.’“No, don’t bring her home,” Damian withdrew his command, his hands pressing tightly on Anya’s wrist. “Bring her to a safe place, but don’t go to a secluded place. It could be dangerous.”“Damian, hey,” Anya called him, and he glanced at his wife before caressing her wrist lightly.“No matter what happens to me, don’t leave her,” instructed Damian, and the bodyguards were about to argue when he spoke again. “This is an order. Do you understand?”“Yes, young master,” all of them bowed in surrender.“Damian, you are scaring the shit out of me,” Anya told him, the fear evident in her tone. “What’s happening?”“I can’t tell you, but for now, just trust me. “It’s not him. It’s you.”As Damian said those words, it was followed by the host speaking inside the function hall.“The charity gala has officially ended. Thank you for coming, everyone, and see you next year!”After that last announcement, the lights went off, delivering an eerie area in the secluded place, arousing tension between Damian and Carter, who didn’t even move despite being pointed by a gun. Damian remained standing, either, his gaze unwavering.“I think it will be useless if I pretend to be shocked, isn’t it? Since you also looked sure that it was me,” Carter said, his demeanor turned into a cold and intimidating one. “I didn’t know how you knew it was me, but nice one, huh?”

We are your family!”“Family? Damn hell, Damian. We are only a family in blood, but who in his sane mind would let his brother die? It is Veron. Do you call that a family?” Carter asked, his voice laced with anger and intimidation. “Now, go, since you will be busy for the whole night. And don’t think that you can use that hidden recorder to report me to the police. It is useless.”Damian remained silent. He could only clench his fist in anger before leaving Carter alone, making the latter smirk.

THE lights were flickering, adding tension in the air, as Damian entered the warehouse alone. He doesn’t have any guns or other weapons with him, nor he didn’t call anyone like Carter instructed.Damian was on high alert as he continued walking when suddenly, two men wearing full black clothes started to approach him with their guns.‘Fuck,’ cursed Damian at the back of his mind, seeing how helpless he was right now.Especially after seeing Ava tied to the chair, his mouth gagged, while Catela is sleeping in the crib beside her.Despite the situation, he couldn’t give up. Damian needed to save himself along with Ava and Catela and end this fight with Carter so it wouldn’t repeat. The two men tied Damian’s hands and feet to the chair, but unlike Ava, they didn’t gag him.“It is so unusual to see how obedient you are. I never thought you could do it,” Carter, who appeared from the shadows, smirked upon seeing Damian being helpless. “That’s right. They will always be safe as long as you

“That was not enough for all the bullshit you did to me before. But for now, let’s call it even," Damian said.Carson only shook his head as he wiped the blood on his lips before leaving the house. And the only thing that was running through his mind was how strong Damian’s punch was… before until now.THE NEXT morning, Carson didn’t just confess what he did to the board members, but he conducted a press conference to publicly apologize to Damian. He knew that Damian deserved to clear his name and regain his reputation, and although his public apology wasn’t enough, he still did it to show his sincerity.“Starting today, Carson Ferremento is now terminated as the CEO, and will face two years of suspension because of him ruining the Ferremento Corporation’s reputation,” Piper announced, her tone colder than usual. “The position will go back to Damian Giovanni Ferremento.”Carson smiled sadly, but he knew he needed to accept the consequences of his actions. However, since Damian had a

After Carter went out of the house unnoticed, that was the only time Carson could breathe properly. He didn’t even realize he was suppressing his breath because of fear.‘Is that really the brother I used to be with ever since I was a child?’ Carson thought, his heart racing, as he leaned into a tree. ‘We are family. Why would he threaten me like that? Is the company and the organization more important to him than me?’And upon asking himself that question, Carson got his answer. Carter wouldn’t mind killing everyone who would be a hindrance to his plans, and he is not an exemption. His gaze went to the house—Something he had because of Carter. Everything he had was him, not giving Carson any chance to carve out his own identity. He was only known for his surname, and for all his careless actions when he was in teenager days. The only thing he had that wasn’t connected with Carter was Dollie, whom he took for granted, and now his family; Ava, his wife, and Catela, their child.“Ava,”

You know that we can’t take clients in other countries other than Colossia, right?”“I know that. You are not taking me as a dumb person, aren’t you?” Veron shot back, his voice laced with irritation now. “I need someone I trust to do this task for me, and I’m willing to pay any amount you want for it.”“Any amount, huh? It was you who messed up with the data. How could you?”Carson’s smirk widened. He didn’t answer. Instead, he stood proudly in the middle with his arms folded.“I’m not here because of the shitty things you accuse me of, but because I have given the board of directors a proposal strategy that you can’t provide.” Carson slid the document in front of Damian. “Here. I didn’t even let him out of my sight.”“I know, but something might have happened that slipped your notice,” Damian said, his tone low and serious. “The Ferremento Corporation is in chaos right now, and I’m sure Carson is involved with it. I need you to think carefully.”James obliged. The tip of his brows pressed harder on each other upon recalling the surveillance, and his lips widened as he remembered something.“There was one incident.
