It Was Agreed
The next weekend, the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the neighborhood. Christopher and Laura, engrossed in their daily routines with Lily, were taken aback when Mr. Davies, their old friend, requested their presence urgently.

“Christopher, Laura, I need you to hurry over. I have to see you. I would not summon you so soon if it wasn't necessary. Rest assured that we will use face masks the entire time that we are together, so nothing happens to the children.”

As Laura hung up the phone, she took one look at Christopher only to find that he had already gotten up and gotten his coats, and was holding on to hers and Lily's.

“Well, you work fast,” she said, her voice missing any hint of laughter. She was too concerned about Mr. Davies and his ominous message, and so was Christopher, so neither of them could hold on to humour in that moment.

Concern etched on their faces, they quickly made their way to his house, Lily cradled in Laura's arms.
