We're Going Home

The much-anticipated day of Christopher and Laura's discharge finally arrived. The sun seemed to shine extra brightly that morning, throwing a warm glow on the hospital room that had housed the couple for their two week stay in the hospital. Nurse Reynolds, along with the other nurses who had come to know the couple well during their stay, entered the room with smiles that matched the brilliance of the sun.

"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Caruthers," Nurse Reynolds greeted them, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Are you ready to go home?"

Christopher helped Laura into her wheelchair, his face lit up with excitement. "Absolutely, Nurse Reynolds. We can't wait to get back home." The excitement in the room was palpable, and was so strong that everyone could taste it on their tongues. Laura especially was excited to go home, because she hated the hospital gowns with the free slits and how the hospital bed slid around when she moved.
