What If's

The night pressed on, a storm seemed to be we outside, doing absolutely nothing to help with Laura's restless thoughts. With Lily peacefully asleep, her concerns about Christopher lingered like the clouds of the storm, and she felt uneasy . She tried to push away the anxiety, telling herself that he might have had a busy day or that his phone battery might have died. However, her maternal instincts whispered otherwise, urging her to reach out once more.

The clock on the bedside table seemed to tick louder with each passing second as Laura dialed Christopher's number again. Her heart raced with worry, and her mind seemed dedicated to keep on coming up with the worst case scenarios. What if something had happened to him? What if he was in trouble?

After several attempts, Christopher's voice finally echoed through the phone. Relief washed over Laura, momentarily replacing her fear with concern. "Christopher, where have you been? I've been trying to reach you all day. Is everything okay?"
