15. The Keeper of Trojan(Part 2)

She looked to the sky, blood splattered all over her body. A knife in her hand and a smile on her face. She had done an unspeakable act, regardless of whether or not it was to protect herself. A tear ran down her face as she began to comprehend the severity of her actions. She pointed the knife to her neck but before she could impale herself an arm grabbed hers. "Please. Just. Let me." The arm pulled hers down, and she could feel them wrap around her, hugging her in a way she had never been before.

"Your gonna be alright," Yelan said.

Her eyes burst open and she immediately reached for her staff, she looked around her and once she confirmed she was the only breathing thing within the room she calmed her nerves down. "Where are the others?" Leia asked herself, pulling up her stat pad and sending a message to her party members. As to where she was? She had no idea. She got up, staff in hand using a simple fire spell linked with mana to make the orb at the top light up, creating an ample light source.

She racked her mind for memories of what transpired but every attempt came up blank, she walked toward the only entrance she could see. The ruins were spooky and dusty, with almost every corner being covered by a mix of spider webs and some other creatures excrete. She pointed her staff to the wall, highlighting the ancient hieroglyphics on it.

Pictures of a man with large gold wing decorations being revered by what seemed to be humans. She continued moving while still looking at the wall, unveiling more of the story. The man was killed in one frame and in another he rose from a tomb to a destroyed palace, the drawings were dirty and barely visible so she did all she could when piecing them together. But what could this mean? Was it just a coincidence or just a random fact about the Trojan ruins?

"Hmm." She faced her staff frontward, moving lower into the ruins. The original story she had heard about the Trojan ruins involved a king who created the ruins as a gift to an opposing nation during the early times, he planted his men in corners of the ruins, and when the opposing nation's king and his men walked in they were killed and the war was won. Or at least that's what she heard, what she saw on the walls told a different story. In fact, although both stories were completely different something felt off.

She returned to the wall she saw the large creature on, looking at the opposite walls and even below trying to see if there was anything she missed. "Could it be?" [Water magic: Tidal surge] She blasted water at the walls cleaning off the dust and grime from their surface. She heard footsteps approaching her but she didn't care, she looked at the walls trying to find the complete story. "It's not a random Keeper. It's the King of the opposing nation."

Little screeches and footsteps of little green beasts rapidly approached Leia whose staff light exposed her location, she needed to warn her teammates, she needed to assist them. Keepers by folklore were mythical creatures that were birthed from the corpses of small animals and insects, they were basically the rare occurrence of an animal not successfully over to the next life, and when that happened a Keeper was born using the mana of the host. Hence the name Keeper, as it kept onto the previous beings' mana. However, this was probably the first time a Keeper had been created by a human and its strength might've been greater than what they could have been able to handle.

Leia ran toward the previous room she was in as the goblins got too close for comfort, she wanted to warn her friends, she wanted to assist them. "I don't have time for this!" [Water magic: Tidal surge] Again she used the water spell which sent a ball of water at terrific speeds to the goblin's but somehow, someway, they were unfazed by it.

"Hahahaahahaaaahha." The goblins mocked her as they charged with their weapons and bows, behind them what seemed to be an elder goblin that towered over them in size.

She was an iron-5 ranked adventurer although she could testify to only gaining the rank due to the fact she worked with a party, but even though she was weak, and her magic needed a lot more work. She wasn't going to die here, and neither were her friends.

She swung her staff and planted it into the ground, her eyes lighting up as she prepared the incantation

"I beseech the mighty water spirits, rulers of the raging tides and turbulent seas, heed my call and lend me your unfathomable power. Let your waters surge and swirl, uniting in a tempest of grand proportions! With the force of a thousand storms, obliterate my foes and level their resistance to naught! By the might of water's unyielding embrace, I summon thee – [Water magic: Great Maelstrom]" Above her staff were two large bodies of water rotating in different directions resembling a whirlpool, this was currently the strongest spell she knew. A spell so strong it required an incantation.

The goblins froze in terror as the brilliant blue glow of energy expanded, engulfing the entire room. Realizing the incoming danger, they turned and hurriedly tried to retreat up the stairs they had come from. However, their fate had already been sealed the moment Leia cast the spell. In an instant, a colossal whirlpool of water surged through the chamber, akin to a devastating tornado tearing through an Arizona desert.

The force was unimaginable, shattering every bone in the goblins' bodies and reducing them to nothing more than a grotesque, pulpy mass. The spell's power was beyond reckoning, obliterating not only the goblins but also erasing an entire level of the ancient ruins, leaving nothing but a swirling cloud of dust and debris in its wake.

Surveying the aftermath of the devastating destruction, Leia couldn't help but regret her actions. "Maybe that wasn't such a good idea after all," she thought to herself, feeling the weight of her impulsive decision. The once magnificent chamber was now reduced to rubble, and the consequences of her powerful magic were laid bare before her.

In spite of the devastation and her regret, Leia realised she had to move forward from her error. She needed to locate her teammates and provide assistance in any way she could, therefore that was her most urgent mission. She overcame her self-doubt out of determination and turned her attention to the task at hand. No matter what obstacles stood in her way, she had to be there for her friends. Leia took a deep breath, prepared herself, and started down the trail to find and help her friends in the dangerous depths of the ruins.
