The Final Escape in The City

6. A new Job

  A NEW JOB. 

Joyce and her children are at the dining room waiting for Eden to arrive back home as they are all scared of what might have happen to Eden since he hasn’t returned home yet. Joyce tries to reach Eden through his phone as she tries harder to call him but unfortunately Eden’s phone is not reachable which makes Joyce more worried about Eden’s safety after being attacked by the thieves on the last encounter. 

“His phone is not reachable. I don’t know what might have happened to him.”, Joyce speaks with Panic.

“Did you try calling his friend Andrew and ask him about where Eden might be?.”, Isabella asks.

“I talked to him a few minutes ago and he told me that Eden left the restaurant a while ago.”, Joyce replies.

Joyce sighs and speaks, “ I don’t know what I’m going to do right now. I hope nothing  bad happens to him.”

The silence follows around the dining room as everyone is quiet while waiting for Eden to arrive back home safely. The foods are at the table waiting to be eaten but unfortunately nobody seems to have an appetite for eating since nobody knows where Eden might be up to now. Shortly the door knock is heard from outside the house which perks Joyce and her children with full attention.

“Who is the person knocking the door outside the house?.”, Isabella asks while looking at her mother.

Joyce shrugs and replies, “I don’t know. Maybe it’s Eden knocking the door.”

Joyce stands up from her chair and looks at her daughters, “Listen I’m going to open that door right now but I don’t want any of you to speak up about what have happened to us today. Do you all understand?.”, Joyce asks.

“But why mom?. Why can’t we tell him about what happened to us?. Rachel asks with curiosity on her face.

“I have my reasons for doing that. Just do as I say okay?.”, Joyce speaks.

Rachel replies, “Okay mom.”

Joyce leaves the dining room and goes to the sitting room in order to open the door for Eden, leaving Isabella and Rachel sitting at the dining room waiting for her return.When Joyce arrives at the door and opens it, she then sees Eden waiting outside the house for the door to be opened.

“Hello mom. Good evening.”, Eden speaks.

“Good evening son. Welcome back home again.”, Joyce replies while opening the door wide.

“Thanks mom.”, Eden replies.

When Eden arrives inside the house, Joyce hugs her son with a relief after seeing her son back home safe and sound since she was so worried about her son’s safety.

"Welcome son"

"Thanks mom.", Eden replies.

Joyce then withdrew her hands from a hug and decides to go with Eden straight to the sitting room. As soon as Eden and Joyce arrives at the sitting room, Eden then starts scanning around the sitting room as he looks confused to what might have happened to the sitting room since he found the sitting room to be pretty dirty and disorganized.

“What happened here mom?. Why is everything so messed up?.”, Eden asks with confusion on his face.

“Nothing happened here son. It’s just we were trying to kill a mice who came inside the house but we have already killed it.”

Eden grins and replies, “Oh!. That is nice. I guess you had some fun with it.”

Joyce fakes her smile to Eden and replies, “Yes we did.”

Eden decides to go to the nearby coach and sits down and rest immediately, "Mom, where is Rachel and Isabella?.", Eden asks.

“There are at the dining room waiting for us. Why don’t we go to them so that we can eat together?. I have prepared some meals for all of us.”

Eden nods and replies, “Okay.”

Eden stands up from his coach and goes to the dining room in order to meet his young sisters so that they can talk and eat together since he hasn’t seen them for quite a long time. When Eden arrives at the dining room together with his mother, he finds Isabella and Rachel sitting while waiting for him.

“Hello my dear sisters, How are you all doing?.”, Eden asks.

“We are doing great.”, Isabella and Rachel replies.

“That’s is good.”, Eden goes to the nearby chair that rest besides Isabella and sits down on the chair.

“Okay it’s time to eat. Let’s get started.”, Joyce speaks.

Everyone in the dining room starts to put their foods on their plates while talking to each other since they haven’t seen each other for quite a longtime as they prepare themselves to get a meal. At the time everyone in the dining room finishes eating their meals. Joyce then orders her daughters to take the plates back to the kitchen.

“Rachel and Isabella. Take all the plates back to the kitchen and go to sleep. I need to speak to your brother alone.”, Joyce speaks.

Rachel and Isabella stands up from their chairs and takes all of the used plates away from the table and returns them back to the kitchen, Leaving Eden and his mother alone at the dining room. After Isabella and Rachel are far away from the sitting room area, Joyce then looks at her son and speak.

"Hello. How was your day son?.", Joyce asks.

Eden sighs and replies, "Somehow good and somehow bad."

Joyce frowns with confusion and then asks, "Tell me son. What seems to be the problem now?."

"The problem is with the school mom. There is some changes with the school fees and they want us to pay on time."

Joyce startles with shock, "What?. But how Eden?.  Did you try talking to the school headmaster about this?",Joyce asks.

Eden sighs and replies, "Yes mom i tried talking to him today but he didn't give me a solid reason to why they decided to change their school fees rate."

"Oh my God this is bad. What are we going to do now Eden?. I don't want to see my daughter stopping their education right now", Joyce replies with nervousness on her face.

"Don't worry. Just leave it to me. I will take care of it.", Eden replies.

"But how are you going to take care of it while you don't have a Job?.",Joyce asks with confusion.

"Relax mom. I already have a Job mom. Don't worry about that."

"Seriously?", Joyce asks with surprise.

"Yes I'm serious. I have got a Job from Ricardo’s restaurant today and I'm supposed to arrive at work by tomorrow early in the morning."

Joyce stands up from her chair and goes to her son and hugs him tightly with so much Excitement on her face after hearing the good news from Eden.

"I'm so proud of you son. I hope someday God will give you more blessing in your life."

"I hope too mom. Thanks.", Eden replies.

It's 5:30 pm in the evening as Elias is inside the gym together with his trainer Thomas striking the punching bag as they prepare themselves in the preparation of new season of MMA underground matches which are going to start soon in Mexico City on which some of the Mafia around the city usually like to watch this matches for their gambling interests.

While Elias is doing his workout on the punching bag while striking the Punching bag so hard, Thomas then starts to shout at Elias while holding the punching bag.

"What the hell were you thinking about back then at the stage?. Why did you let Eden defeat you on that final match while you almost won it."

Elias's face turns red with anger after hearing the words coming out of Thomas's mouth as he continues doing his workout and then decides to ignore Thomas while Thomas continues speaking to him as he is doing his workout.

Thomas speaks, "Did you know how disappointed we were when you lost that match to Eden uh!?, Why did you lose to him, tell me?."

Elias strikes the punching bag so hard with so much force and then exclaims at Thomas with so much anger, "Okay- stop- That is enough. Okay."

"How am i gonna stop Elias. Do you actually know how much we have lost because of you and your stupid mistakes.", Thomas replies.

Elias sighs and replies, "Okay, i know that we have lost a lot of money from our sponsors but please do not keep reminding me of that every time we practice, Okay?."

Thomas sighs and leaves the punching bag and walks closer towards Eden's standing position, "How am i gonna stop reminding you Elias, Do you actually know how furious the boss was when you lost that match?.", Thomas speaks.

"Yes i know how furious he was but there is no need of reminding me about that everytime, I'm so sick and tired of hearing about that shit, Okay?."

After Elias is done talking to Thomas, he then decides to leave the punching bag training spot and goes to the nearby bench and sits down and rest.

While Elias is sitting on the bench drinking his water,Thomas then follows him behind to the place where he is sitting and sits down besides him and speaks.

"Elias, Are you gonna train again after resting?", Thomas asks with confusion.

"No thanks, I'm not in the mood right now",Elias shakes his head with disagreement and replies.

"Okay then we will proceed with our training tomorrow."

Elias continues drinking his water as he cools off himself after a long session of training with Thomas while Thomas looks at him as Elias drinks his water.

"I'm sorry Elias for what i have said to you but there is something that i want to inform you."

"What is it?.", Elias raises his eyebrow with confusion and replies.

"The boss wants you to participate in a friendly rematch between you and Eden next month."

"What?, That is impossible. There is no way I'm gonna participate in that match right now i simply can't.", Elias frowns and replies to Thomas

"But Elias you have no choice but to do as the boss says or else things may end up turning ugly."

"No,No and No. There is no way that I'm gonna participate in that friendly match. I'm sick and tired of your boss bullshit.",Elias replies with a stern look on his face.

Thomas sighs and replies, "Okay then as you say so but remember this brother, Pablo is a very powerful man in Mexico city so it is better if you agree on what he says rather than causing more chaos or else this is gonna end up really badly."

"I don't really care about what he will do to me or what but I'm not gonna do whatever he wants from me anymore."

"Okay as you say so", Thomas sighs and replies.

Thomas and Elias continue talking to each other while sitting down together on the bench discussing about their training schedules and the plans for the future training.

In a few moments while Elias and Thomas are talking to each other at the bench as they are discussing on the bench. The group of men wearing the black suits enters inside the gym in a rush, and when Elias sees them, he then pats Thomas's shoulder while calling him.

"Thomas,Thomas,Look, who are those people that have entered inside the gym right now?.", Elias asks with fear look on his face.

Thomas turns and Looks behind him to see the people Elias is talking about, and When he sees Pablo coming towards them, he then commands Elias to stand up really quickly from the bench.

"Elias stand up right now, the boss is coming."

Elias stands up really quickly after being told to stand, waiting for Pablo to arrive at their place. when Pablo approaches Elias and Thomas, he then starts by greeting.

"Good evening young men, How are you all doing today?",Pablo asks.

"We are doing great sir. Thanks.", Thomas replies to Pablo with a broad Smile on his face.

"So, how is your training going on?.", Pablo asks.

"It's going great sir, we are still working on some few Elias's weaknesses but soon he will be ready for the session.", Thomas replies to Pablo.

"That is good to hear because i don't want any sort of disappointment later in that match, I really need to return my money at any cost, do you understand?."

"Yes boss, don't worry about that, we will not disappoint you this time I promise you.", Thomas replies.

Elias remains silent without saying a single word as Thomas and Pablo continues talking about the match preparations plans between him and Eden while Elias speaks to his inner thoughts.

"I have to find the best way to stop this from happening, there is no way I'm going allow this from happening."

While Elias is standing while talking to his inner thoughts, Thomas and Pablo decides to leave Elias and then goes outside of the gym in order to discuss some of other things quietly and privately about their issues, leaving Elias behind standing.

In a few moments while Elias is waiting for Thomas to return back to the gym, his cellphone rings inside his bag and then he decides to take it and answers it.

"Hello.", Elias speaks.

"Darling, where are you right now, why are taking so long to return back home?."

"I'm on my way right now. I will be there in a short while."

"Okay I'm waiting for you."

Elias hangs up his phone and then starts preparing himself in order to go home as he packs his things inside the bag. When Elias is done preparing himself, he then leaves the gym and goes straight back to his home in order to meet up with his wife, leaving Thomas and Pablo discussing their things outside the gym.
