"The magic is real."
"There is an energy we can't see with our eyes. Its name is mana."
"Your mother... She could have been healthy all along. She might have naturally possessed mana or the ability to see mana."
"You can use mana to help people like your mother."
Lydia shook her head to get rid of the unnecessary thoughts. No, they weren't the unnecessary thoughts, they were the delusions she feared. She sat up on her bed. The faint light of the moon was visible through the window of her room. She looked towards the moon.
"So today it's half-moon..."
Tonight was the next night after Oscar's fight against Howard. The streets of the Daxhoull were empty from morning till night. No one was willing to leave their house. The government and the army were still inspecting the destroyed part of the forest and they were also patrolling the surroundings of the city.
No one was talking but e
It was already four days since the night of the "incident". Oscar spent the last three days studying the spiritual core and his necklace. He didn't manage to uncover much but he was able to absorb spirit mana from the core and gained a bit of fire affinity. It wasn't much but his arsenal wasn't much, to begin with. He also gained a little bit of understanding about foreign energy. It had a weird reaction with Aether. With Aether, it became darker and more powerful. But it didn't last long. Soon it returned to its previous state. "This could be very well a "key" to use Aether, for me." He first thought that chasing after power was a greedy thing to do but not anymore. Aether was an energy that was barely explored. It has almost limitless potential in Oscar's eyes. Maybe even more than mana. Mana could very well replicate and reinforce natural phenomena. But according to Kairi even it has limit
"I've already recovered. I need to get back on my training also I need some new spells."Oscar muttered to himself. After talking with Mason he returned home for the day. Mason asked about what he should do and Oscar said that he should wait until things get... calmer. Of course, that was just distracting Mason. For a few days at most but every second he could gain was important for Oscar. What Oscar wanted was to gain enough time until he git stronger or at least Kairi recovered enough mana. After all, he can't guarantee that there aren't any other spirits out there. With those thoughts he fell asleep. The next morning he begun his research again."Since I gained mana, all I was focused on was Water Magic and its spells. They aren't necessarily bad. But I feel like I need variety."Water Magic itself isn't focused on offensive or defense. It is more like a middle ground. It has both offensive and de
(Oscar's POV) Hmm? The weather became cloudy, suddenly. I have been training for a while now. I think it's already been an hour or two at this point. I guess I lost track of time, again. It started to happen a lot these days. I can't help but get lost in my research. I don't know much about magic. So, learning something new is extremely important to me. Not just learning but practicing what I learned is also feel amazing too. It gives me the feeling of getting stronger. Anyway, today was a little different from other days when I practiced magic. Today I tried the original spells I created, mostly. First was the [Rock Bullet]. I inspired it from the novice level spell, [Water Ball]. Of course, I didn't use the same size as the water balls. I used the size of normal bullets. But the way it works is copied from the water ball. I changed some of the parameters. The spells are like little codes bu
"MASON!"Oscar shouted with all of his might. He rushed to his friend as his body slowly fell to the ground. He felt the world around him slow down as he continues to move. At every step he got closer to Mason, his heartbeats got louder. When he reached him, he was already laying on the ground. There was a very clear bloodstain on his chest. The blood was constantly leaking from the wound the gunshot opened. Seeing this Oscar's face turned pale. He immediately cast a healing spell on Mason's wound."Mason!""Who is this kid?!""I don't know! We were only told that this Mason kid would be here."Oscar sharply turned his head to the talking men. He had a deathly glare on his pale face. He saw the gun they held was still pointing at the Mason. And before anyone could say anything else he cast another spell with his other hand."[Rock Bullets]"Fort
"Mom, please, I have to go.""..."Oscar already made his decision. He decided to go out and learn about the foreign energy he was researching. His grandpa and Carla's were aware of this energy. So he decided that his first and hopefully only destination was the secret house his grandpa had in Zhose Region. He told his mother about his decision to go to the Zhose. To the secret house of his grandfather. She couldn't find a word to speak about the sudden decision of her son. She was about to refute him but she noticed the state he was in.His clothes were normal but his face wasn't. His eyes were red and swollen. It was obvious that he cried only recently. His fists were also clenched and were red. He might punch somewhere until making his fist red, she thought. His lips were also looked bloody. He must have bitten his own lips, she thought. She was worried about her son. The only other time he
Lydia opened her eyes slowly. When the sunlight fall on her eyes she rubbed her eyes. So bright, she thought. She was laying on the grass and under a beautiful tree. She could hear birds chirping."Ah, what a beautiful day."She looked at the lovely blue skies. There were almost no clouds in the sky. The sun was shining bright high in the sky. The birds and many butterflies were flying around. It was a fascinating scene."It's pretty isn't it?""It's breathtaking.""I know, right. And watch this."Oscar came behind and talked with Lydia. He raised his hand high above and hundreds of different kinds of flowers made of water appeared floating around. She watched them with sparkling eyes. Her admiration was very clear. This fantastic scenery coupled with magical flowers was making her excited."The magic is amazing.""It might be the best thing that happened to
It was a long and hard day for Oscar. He was mentally exhausted but it was worth it. He researched and practiced magic. Then he lost his friend. Mason died in his arms. He hoped that Kairi could somehow heal him but he couldn't."I will go to the secret house grandpa left. Hopefully, there are some records about this foreign energy at there."He already had bought a ticket to Zhose Region. If everything will go according to his wishes, he will find a way to resurrect Mason there and maybe even Nora. And he then will take revenge on whoever harmed Mason. While imagining his revenge he soon fell asleep."Thomas! Wake up already.""Let me sleep. Just five minutes.""No! We are going to the forest with other kids. We can't be late!""Ugh!"The boy with dark-haired wakes up with a frown. A girl with dark hair kept poking him without rest until he completely woke up. The boy looked at
It took eight hours of bus travel to reach Zhose from Daxhoull. The bus went through Biron and Zlorith to reach Zhose. It was two hours long distance between Daxhoull and Biron. From Biron to Zlorith was three hours and another three hours to Zhose.Zhose was a city built in a mountainous region. Because of this, transportation was long and hard. Even to this day, there weren't many roads leading to Zhose City. It had a population of half a million. It wasn't a big city but it couldn't be said that it was small by any means.Oscar walked out of the bus. It was already past noon when he arrived in the city. The cold weather of Zhose hit his face. Another important point about the Zhose Region was, this place was one of the northernmost regions of the continent."I didn't think this place would be this cold already. We just got the October and this place already has the weather of the winter."As one o
