(Agustin POV)
Daxhoull. It was founded by Dax and Houll families over a hundred years ago. They have almost absolute control over the city. But in the last decade somehow they both lost their political power. Not all of it but they can't control everyone anymore.
Since a year ago they are trying to take back their control over the city and its people. The information I managed the reach is somewhat weird. They were staying in line like the rest of the influential families. But last year someone died. Someone named Adrian Williams. Right after his death, they are trying to get back to the old days.
There is almost no information about Adrian Williams. His only son is missing for over two years. His daughter-in-law and grandson are staying in Daxhoull. I thought that those families would target them but they are staying back, apparently. Even after his death, they can't escape from his shadow. Just who is this man?
I revealed the magic and give power to Lydia yesterday. I gained an ally aside from Kairi and Akane.I still need to go and explain what happened to Kairi tonight. I don't what she would think. But we need every help we can get. I'm sure she will understand. As usual, I prepared for school. It's been a week since I get this power. I can clearly see how my life is changing compared to before. It's a weird feeling."Mom, I'm leaving.""Take care!"Today I came across Jason on the way to school. Surprisingly he left his home early. Now that I think about it he was kind of depressed before we went to the club yesterday."Hey, I didn't ask you yesterday but... are you okay?"He seemed surprised by my sudden question. He looked at my face for a while and didn't say anything. But I can clearly feel he is depressed."I got friend-zoned."
"Huh? You are our senior?"When Oscar entered the clubroom this was the first thing he heard. Jason was staring at someone with eyes full of disbelief. She was someone with a petite body even shorter than most of the girls. With her pale silver hair and golden eyes, she looked like a doll. She was a charming girl even Oscar couldn't help but raise his eyebrows."Yes, I am Luna Edgar and I am a third-year student this year. Also the president of this club. Nice to meet you, everyone!"Jason's mouth was agape. Oscar was surprised too. Luna's face was too childish no one would believe that she is a third-year high school student. She was charming but her face still looked childish. Jason looked at Ted. His expression could tell what he thinks."Yes, she is a third-year student. She is a really good senior. I have been helped by her a lot."Ted nodded and told Jason. Jason's eyes spa
Right after the bell rang we left the school. It was four of us once again. When we arrived on my street I said goodbye and leave for home. The plan was simple. Go home, prepare some tools to use while training mainly mana crystals and liquid mana, then meet with her in the forest.I didn't tell her about the church yet. I do trust her but mana lake is a game-changer. I want to keep it secret as long as I can. Not just because I don't trust her. The main reason is it can give mana to anyone. I confirmed it with Lydia.I know she had mana in her eyes before but even if the lake gives mana only to the people like her, it is a huge risk I won't take.I arrived home and quickly went to my room. After changing my clothes I checked my mana battery reserves. It already dropped to half. I did give some to Lydia. And I spent more mana while practicing magic. I need to restock sometime soon.
After I show the basics to Lydia, I started with my training. Since I have my Aether Organ completed I can train to my limits and eventually surpass them. I will start with mana strings. I have a few ideas for them. But I first need to master creating them. After I gained enough mastery, I can try to change the nature of mana while using them.Basically, I shape mana to the shape of a string or thread. Like the threads of a spider. Unfortunately, I'm rather a novice at this so I lose a bit of mana while doing it. My first goal is to lose less mana while creating them. I eventually want to prevent the mana loss and solidify them. I also need to increase the number of strings I can create at once. Right now I can create five and use them relatively easily as long as they have a length of 50 centimeters. Longer than that is not possible for the current me.I create one string of mana between my hands. I'm trying to make it more compact. I can n
After I finished training with Lydia I escorted her to her house. It's already dark outside so I would rather not leave her alone. My mom texted me, asking when I was coming home. She would obviously get suspicious if I constantly stay outside till night. I texted her that I was with a classmate and I would be home about in an hour. After I'm done with everything I went to the old church. I need to talk with Kairi about Lydia. This matter is important and I know that I should have talked with her before. But... I just couldn't help myself. What if she refuses? I finally got myself a person who can understand me.With those thoughts on my mind, I jumped down to the cave. The stone altar nullifies the magic to some extent. I need to find out what to do with it later. Anyway, the cave is just as I left it before. We need to add something defensive just in case."Welcome, Oscar.""I'm back, Kairi.
(Third Person POV)The moon was shining on the sky and illuminating the night. It's only been a few hours since sunset. But somehow all of the city was buried in silence. Daxhoull didn't have a lively or energetic nightlife but it still had one. This silence was truly an unusual occurrence. The reason for this might be the movements of the police force. Most people who are part of the nightlife or underworld could understand that police were planning something big. No one confirmed this but it wasn't something they were willing to risk."Tch! What the heck?! We looked everywhere and found nothing."On this quiet night, there were several police officers who were traveling the forest. One of them, who just spoke, was Officer Hans. He was a tall and bulky man in his mid-thirties. The sides of his brown hair were beginning to grey. He had a nasty frown on his face.He was clearly an
(Third person POV)It was the morning of Wednesday. Everyone in the Daxhoull heard about the police investigation in the depths of the forest last night. It was the astonishing speed of a rumor spreading. Everyone else said something else about the investigation of the police forces.Mason was walking to the school. He was familiar with the gossiping nature of the citizens. From the housewife to company workers, everyone would gossip one way or another. If you would ask them they would deny it but the truth is undeniable. They love gossip."What is this fuss about? They just did an investigation. Why would people create a rumor about aliens?"Mason found this extremely weird. Linking an ordinary or common police investigation to some conspiracy theories is just bullshit. No matter how safe Daxhoull is compared to surrounding cities, crime still happens. Murder, thievery, and some other small-time cri
The school hours were over. Mason quickly left the school grounds. While walking on the streets he couldn't help but look toward the forest."A quick walk in the forest can't be bad, right?"He slowly walked inside the forest. Unaware of the action he just made actually sealed his fate.***"Can this one succeed?"Andrew Houll asked the man with a white gown. He was holding a file in his hand. The man looked at the file and read its contents before answering."He should be more durable than others. We have yet the find the necessary requirements to succeed but he is the best subject so far.""We already lost so many resources. We need some results and we need them soon. You better be successful this time."They both looked at the man with patient robes. He was a tall and bulky man. He had short grey hair and brown eyes. There was a
