Reid was of course surprised by Amanda's presence, especially by the woman's panicked words and expression.

"What's wrong, Amanda?" Reid asked, frowning.

"You have to help me," Amanda said in a demanding tone, ignoring Reid's question.

Reid's frown deepened. “Yes, but first explain to me what's wrong? What should I help you with?” Reid asked again.

But the woman instead paced around Reid's room, biting the tips of her nails. She muttered—rather babbled—to herself. “How could he order me to do this? Gosh, I'm an adult. He has no right to boss me around like this.”

Reid turned to Charles, giving him a questioning look, maybe his personal assistant knew what was going on.

Aren't Charles and Amanda quite close? Reid knew that Amanda often complained and even talked about himself to Charles. If it weren't for Amanda's enormous service, Reid would have reprimanded her. How can a subordinate gossip about her boss—especially out loud—in front of the boss himself? It's outrageous.
