Andi sat at his desk, his hand flipped through a file on his desk and a pair of reading glasses sat on top of his nose. He had a gentle yet somewhat stern expression on his face as he read through the pages of the paper. “And a lawyer?” He asked without raising his head from the paper he was reading. “He is waiting in the living room.” Lucy responded. “He is your family lawyer, he has a few words to say to you.” Andi looked up just then. Taylor swallowed hard. Her eyes lazily fell shut where she sat on the side of her bed and tears wet her face. She had stayed awake all night, thinking about the punishment her father had bestowed on her and how to escape them. The entire room was just as shocked as the woman who had given the slap and the one that had received it. Lucy didn't know when her hand met with Taylor's face but she was glad it did. The family gathered around the dining table and closed their eyes to say their prayers before eating. Matthew had left them after departing from Taylor's house to drop off the papers at court for his client, Andi, and rushed back just in time to join them for dinner. Ever since he arrived, Mrs Emerson had been nothing but sweet to him. She had prepared the meals herself when Andi told her he was coming even though her son refused she did anything at all. Having just returned from the hospital. Mrs Emerson was always a good cook, she dreamt of her own restaurant but gave up that dream to support her husband with his company. Andi rarely ate the things at home save for cereals and fruits. He never cooked except to fry an egg and prepare some toast. Andi sat up in his bed feeling as refreshed as he looked. He turned off his alarm clock and climbed down from his bed. Standing in front of his window, he pulled the blinds apart to allow proper sunlight to seep in.
