Street Ghost

Rendy, who was driving his sedan, headed towards Bu Siti’s food stall through a very dark street. Occasionally he played with his car lights by turning on and off repeatedly. This he did as a request for permission to pass to invisible creatures to stay off the streets. Even though it seemed like he didn't want to hear Jajang's explanation, he also followed Jajang's suggestion.

If Jajang said earlier, by turning off and turning on the car's lights repeatedly it makes the journey safe in the dark of the night. So that's what Rendy is doing now while his car is driving towards the center of the hamlet. Occasionally he honks the car horn as well to give a warning to demons or street ghosts so they don't get hit by them. It was also Jajang's advice which he complied with.

"Why didn't I follow Jajang's advice? I should have just stayed at his house with Carla, thought Rendy regretting his decision.

Rendy is not someone who easily believes in the existence of spirits that roam the human world. But he also does not deny the existence of these spirits in the real world. It's just that the modern education he got made him not easily believe in the existence of these spirits.

The streets are still dark and there are many empty houses left by hamlet residents who prefer to live in the hamlet center which is closer to the center of the crowd. Since what happened to Ningsih, many villagers have decided to stay away from the empty house at the end of the hamlet so as not to suffer bad luck. Some residents of this hamlet have also moved to the next hamlet, making Sentani hamlet quieter instead of what used to be always busy.

Tiit Tiit Tiiitt

The sound of the car horn continues to be turned on every minute by Rendy according to Jajang's suggestion earlier. However, according to him, it was safer to follow the village youth earlier in the village, which he now feels is quite scary. During the afternoon, this hamlet is very beautiful and makes your eyes cool looking at the rice fields that stretch along the road. But it was night, and there were no street lights, so Rendy started to worry a little too with bad people who might be hiding in the middle of the trees or rice fields that his eyes couldn't see.

"If Rendy drives a car on dark streets, especially straight roads, don't keep the lights on because there are many street guards who don't like car lights shining on them. Just blow the car horn while occasionally turning on the lights to check the road conditions and then turn them off again,” remembering Jajang's message earlier when he was already in the car leaving Jajang's house.

Suddenly the car felt the road was heavy, even though before it was going quite fast. He stepped on the gas pedal until it stuck but the car didn't even start to move at all as if it was being held back by something.

“Ouch..Why does it have to happen at this time of night? You know that earlier at Jajang's house, we had to wait until morning to go to the hamlet center. Where is it still far away? I'd better just wait in the car until it's light, but what about Clara who is alone with Jajang? Even though Jajang was a friend from childhood, now it's much different. What's more, it's just the two of them. Jajang's mother did not come home.”

Huuffhh..Rendy sat silently in his car not knowing what to do while occasionally exhaling heavily.

This young man looked at his cell phone. Still no signal. Dusun Sentani doesn't seem like anyone uses a cell phone because there's been no signal at all since he came to this hamlet.

Derrrrr deerrrrr derrr

Rendy was still trying to start the car but it seemed there was engine damage because the car that was moving slowly stopped completely. Rendy was not a coward, but right now he really felt the hairs on his neck stand up as if many spirits were swarming him. He was getting short of breath in the car and he felt a lot of heat around him. Only the light from the cellphone still illuminates it because the dark streets are completely invisible.

The pitch black streets made Rendy still stuck sitting in the car not knowing what to do. He was also worried that a bad person would set up a barrier or something that would cause his car to die in the middle of the road so he would go out to check the engine to make it easier to rob him. He also couldn't turn on the car's lights. “There must be a problem with the car battery. Even though before leaving here, we had checked the feasibility of this car for long distances at the workshop,” he thought.

“Out, No, Out, No!”

His mind was torn between saving himself by staying in the car and being locked or walking out into the middle of a residential area to ask for help.

With a heavy heart, Rendy finally ventured out of his car. His cellphone also started to run low , so he had to quickly reach the nearest resident's house so he wouldn't get lost in the dark of the night.

Randy checked his car first. “It turned out that the car battery had a problem. No wonder you can't turn on the air conditioner and can't charge your cell phone in the car either."

The road was still muddy and muddy due to the heavy rain that had fallen earlier. Rendy's feet slowly stepped forward hoping he would soon meet a residential area before his cell phone light went out.

Kriikk kriiikkk kriikk

The sound of crickets broke the silence of the cold night that Rendy felt. "Hopefully I don't meet the street ghosts that Jajang mentioned earlier." Rendy's hopes did not come true and things got even worse for him.

In the distance he saw the figure of a woman who was also walking towards him. Unfortunately for him, at that moment the flashlight on his cellphone went out leaving him in the dark.

He heard the sound of footsteps getting louder and closer to him, but Rendy couldn't see anything in front of him.

"Mister..I'm hungry..It's been a long time since I've eaten.." the groaning voice of the woman who he had glimpsed in the distance but now he couldn't see at all because of the darkness of the street he was going through.

"Who are you..I'm also going to the hamlet center...Let's go there together." Rendy tried to overcome his fear because in his heart he already felt that this was a street ghost that Jajang had told him about when he was in the car.

"Hungry Mister...." another moaning voice that was getting closer was heard by him.

Rendy's hair was starting to stand on end but as instructed by Jajang, he couldn't look scared so the ghosts couldn't absorb the fear inside him which could make them even more real.

Rendy kept running in the dark without caring about the louder voices moaning in his ears. "If you're not afraid, they can't touch you," said Jajang's advice.

“Who exactly is Jajang? Why does he know so much about ghosts in this haunted hamlet?”, he thought.

Suddenly his steps felt very heavy, as if his feet were caught by something clinging to his feet. But Randy didn't care anymore. With shuffling footsteps he stepped quickly forward because he couldn't see what exactly was going on. The hope in his heart is that he will immediately meet a resident's house to ask for help.

What happened to Randy? Did he manage to spend the night in this Dusun Sentani? Clara's mysterious past that made the residents of Dusun Sentani refuse her presence in this hamlet, will this girl be able to overcome it? Who is actually Jajang who knows everything about these spirits in Dusun Sentani?
