Chap. 12 Maria's Will

Magdalena's grip loosened as Jonathan greeted her back.

"Hello Maria, I'm doing well."

The woman took control, and Jonathan removed his hand from Magdalena. They shook hands, and the woman smiled again.

Magdalena was like the third person among them. From the corner of her eye, she saw that the woman looked elegant and mature. If she looks at her... she seems more suitable side by side with Jonathan than with her. The woman was dressed in an office, very neat and classy.

Magdalena sighed, feeling like she wanted to scream and prevent them from talking.

"Meet Magdalena Morris, my fiancé." Jonathan's voice was like a breath of fresh air. Where Magdalene turned to Jonathan. She emphasized to her heart that she had to fully comply with Jonathan's promise while in the car.

Now, the gloomy look on her face turned to Maria Soriano. Her smile disappeared when she realized the same ring was pinned on both Magdalena's and Jonathanring fingers. All this time, Maria had admired Jonathan so much that she had missed the silver ring on the man's ring finger.

"Hello, Miss Maria...."

"Maria Soriano," Maria accepted Magdalena's extended handshake.

"How are you, Miss Maria Soriano? My name is Magdalena Morris. Jonathan's fiancé." After shaking hands, Magdalena hugged Jonathan's arm, which was reciprocated by a small pat on the back of the girl's hand by her fiancé.

Maria tightened her fists, spoiling her eyes when she saw the scene of their romantic moment.

"Maria, we'll excuse ourselves," Jonathan said goodbye while Magdalena waved her hands as a sign of farewell.

"Okay, Jonathan, hopefully, we'll see each other again sometime." Maria smiled sweetly at Jonathan.

"See you later." Jonathan grabbed Magdalena's hand and entered the French restaurant that Adam had reserved.

"Sit down," Jonathan pulled up a chair for Magdalena.

"Thank you."

Jonathan called out to the waiter with one hand raised up.

"Good afternoon, sir, miss." The waiter handed the menu book in front of Jonathan and Magdalena.

"What would you like to order?" Jonathan asked.

"Same as you."

Jonathan dislikes Magdalena because the girl always followed everything he wanted, including the food menu. He sighed, wishing she had a will of her own without having to equate everything with his wishes.

"I'd like to order this," Jonathan pointed to some menu items and a bottle of classic wine to celebrate Magdalena's return.

"Yes, sir." The waiter bowed his head and left.

Magdalena leaked Jonathan's handsome face. Dark brown hair, sharp facial features, and sharp gray eyes. Very attractive to women. Plus, his wealth and power. Anyone would admire him, including the woman named Maria Soriano. His father used to force Jonathan to officially engage with her. Although the engagement party was held secretly because of Magdalena's school status.

"What is it?" asked Jonathan, who had already guessed the meaning of the looks in Magdalena's eyes.

"That woman ...."

"You mean, Maria?"

Magdalena raised her eyebrows; Jonathan called the woman's first name casually. As if they were already close, she thought, how close is their relationship all this time? "Yes, Miss Soriano."

"We just," the waiter came with their order.

"Eat first," Jonathan opened the large plate lying face down on the table, helping Magdalena with the cutlery.

"This?" Magdalena was surprised; all the menus were her favorite foods. The famous French dish is based on baked snails, from oxtail soup to croissants and escargot.

"This lunch is specifically to welcome you. So I ordered your favorite dish."

"Nathan," called Magdalena.

"Welcome, Lena." Jonathan put a snail on Magdalene's plate.

"Ask after we're done eating. I'll answer all the questions that are stuck in your mind."

"Cheers," Jonathan raised the glass of wine up. And Magdalena did the same.

"Cheers."

"Miss," someone called to Maria.

"What is it?"

"Miss still expecting, Mr. Smith?"

"What do you mean?"

"He's engaged. That means..."

"Ramon, they're just engaged, not married. That means there's still a chance for me. Jonathan needs a tough woman like me more than that little girl."
