Chapter 26

Mr. Andrew paced back and forth in his house.

Scott walked in with a depressed face. A pang of regret pierced his heart as he realized the consequences of the present situation.

“I apologize for the way everything turned out in court today. I least expected it would go that way,” Scott pleaded, taking the blame for giving Mr. Andrew his words a few days ago. But his apology felt hollow, the words ringing false, leaving a bitter aftertaste in his mouth.

“You don't need to apologize, you fool,” Mr. Andrew said curtly, the sarcasm dripping from his voice like honey. “I thought you said you had everything under control? You made me trust your intuition, and now look at how it flopped,” he added, not sparing a glance.

“Even the contact you said you would get, Up to now, I haven't heard or seen anything. You are beginning to be relaxed and incompetent.”

Mr. Andrew's eyes darted nervously to Scott, who was now cold. His silence spoke volumes; a complex tapestry of regrets ran through him. H
