Chapter 5

[I didn’t tell you to stand up]

“I started trusting you,” Travis replied.

[Don’t misunderstand me]

[If you have completed the primary mission, I would have rewarded you greatly]

[I can help you open the door and make you run faster to avoid any punishment from these people]

Travis ignored the grand system as if it was a wrong number, and remained standing with his arm raised till everyone noticed him.

Everyone laughed except for the auctioneer who folded his arms, and said, “You don’t need to ask for permission before going out.”

“I stood because I want to pay $3,000,000,000,” Travis said, not minding the speed of his chest-beating. Even if the golden system failed him, he would still trust it.

“Can you afford that?”

“Yes,” Travis said, nodding.

“Anyone else?” The auctioneer asked. He didn’t believe Travis, but he saw this as an opportunity for another person to increase the price.

“Of course.” A fat man rose. “$5,000,000,000.”

“6,000,000,000,” Travis snapped back.

The fat man smirked at Travis. “This is interesting. I will pay $10,000,000,000”

“$20,000,000,000.”

The auctioneer was glad, although he was sure the boy would fail. He decided to reward Travis because it was his courage that raised the price.

“You can’t afford to buy a toy. It’s a waste of time competing with you. Show us what you got.” The fat man sat.

The auctioneer gave Travis the chance to step onto the stage while the bidders were making fun of Travis’s appearance.

“How do you want to pay?”

Travis gave him his card and took a heavy breath as he input his pin. Only the auctioneer knew Travis’s fingers were trembling on the payment terminal.

“Unbelievable!” The auctioneer’s eyes almost popped out as he looked at Travis, cleaning his tears.

Travis smiled. “Where is the car key?”

The auctioneer handed him the card and the key and then took him to the car while the other bidders were curious about what was happening.

“You can open the car with the key and your fingerprint. Should I show you how?”

Travis nodded.

The auctioneer opened a cover at the door. “If you place your finger here, the car will scan your finger for the first time.”

Travis placed his right thumb on the fingerprint screen and a green light flared.

“What is going on?” The fat man rose in annoyance.

The auctioneer faced them. “I’m sorry for ignoring you. As you can see, this important richest boy has successfully paid for the car.”

They rose as if they were told to. They couldn’t believe it. The fat man thought he was dreaming as a pretty woman wrote Travis’s name on the car receipt.

The auctioneer gave Travis the receipt. “You are free to drive your car out. And if you like, you can ask your car to drive you to anywhere you want.”

Travis entered the car and saw a large map. A robotic voice explaining how he could use the car welcomed him.

Travis then came out of the car in gladness as a man in a white suit came near and waved. Travis recognized him. He was the father of Calvin, who snatched his girlfriend with money.

“I’m Moore. I don’t want to waste your time. Can I invite you to my son’s wedding?”

“Sure,” Travis said.

“Thank you!” He gave Travis the wedding card happily. He intended to pursue Travis as his business partner because many would like to work with him now that he is popular.

The fat man bent his head and tried to get Travis’s attention. But he later hurried out because Travis pretended he never existed.

The auctioneer touched Travis’s shoulder gently. “Would you like to talk with the CEO of this company? He won’t take much of your precious time.”

“Yes, where he is?”

“Please follow me. He is waiting for you in his office.”

The security lady who had vowed to punish Travis bent her head as Travis walked out with the auctioneer. She prayed silently that Travis go straight to where he was going without ever looking at her. His presence is already scaring her. If she had known, she wouldn’t have treated him like trash.

Travis stopped at the door and waved to the security lady. “Hello!”

“Hi,” she said with a forceful smile on her face.

“I’m coming back for you. You still have an uncompleted goal.”

“Please, I can explain-“

Travis walked away, and the auctioneer followed with confusion on his face.

“This way.” The auctioneer opened an elevator room which lifted them to the tenth floor, and they met CEO Douglass impatiently waiting for Travis in his office corridor.
