I stared at Dad as he lay in bed with a huge storybook.

"Daddy?"

"Hi, dear," he answered me with a smile.

"You look sad... Dad. Did something happen?"

His mouth opened, but then it closed.

"I just remembered that I have a lot of accumulated work" he lied.

Dad was a liar.

I sighed.

"Does that mean you won’t read to me tomorrow?"

He denied it with his head.

"No matter how busy I may be, I’ll still be here to put you to sleep."

Smile.

He’d probably only do it for three or four days, but still... I was happy.

"Really?"

"Even" he said and I snuggled up to him when I finished buttoning my pajamas.

"Loren" he called me "what did you... think of the dance?"

I pressed the ribbon that was still on my wrist, tied to it - as the blond boy had left.

Smile.

"It was amazing, like a fairy tale," I said and Dad’s face seemed to become happier.

"How nice... I thought I might have gotten tired," he said and stroked my hair.

"No!" I hurried to say "I danced with Abbadon!
