A Life Saver

Hearing someone shouting for help, Arthur quickly raised his head, and looked at the direction.

A girl was being hugged by a man. Her pretty face was filled with panic and confusion. She kept shaking her head and saying. "I don't know him."

The man holding the girl looked like a ferocious thug. He glared at the onlookers fiercely and said. "She's my wife. We are having an argument. Go away, or do you want to get beaten?"

Some people who wanted to help the girl took two steps back in fear when they saw the man's wolf-like eyes.

Seeing the girl being pulled into the van, Arthur felt something was wrong, so he stepped forward to stop the man: "Hey, leave her alone. If she doesn't want to go with you, why are you forcing her?"

"Mind your own business." The man looked at Arthur warily and hugged the girl's neck even tighter. "This is between husband and wife, why do you have to.get involved?"

The girl had been desperate, but when she saw Arthur coming to help, hope reappeared in her eyes, and she kicked and struggled even harder. "He's not my husband. I don't know him at all. He's a human trafficker, please help me."

"My wife likes to talk nonsense, don't listen to her." The man's ferocious look appeared after hearing the word "human trafficker". He tightened his strangle hold on the girl's neck, causing her to roll her eyes while her beautiful long legs kicked weakly in the air.

"Hey, relax, brother. I didn't mean to intrude in your argument." Arthur quickly comforted the man, "I just wanted to see that your wife is okay. You two seems a perfect match, so why are you arguing?"

The girl's eyes, which were originally full of hope, dimmed again after hearing Arthur's words. Was her future really going to end like this?

Just when the girl was completely in despair, a container of chicken soup suddenly hit the man on the face, splashing him all over his body. The pepper in his eyes caused him to subconsciously relax the strength on his hands. At this moment, Arthur directly pulled the girl down and drew her into the observing crowd.

The man's eyes were full of pepper sauce and tomato ketchup, and it took him a while to recover. But by then, the police car called by kind-hearted people had arrived at the scene and surrounded him tightly.

All the relevant people were taken to the police station, including Arthur and the girl.

Sitting in the police station, the girl held a cup of hot coffee and told the story of what happened today in a fragmentary manner.

Her name was Sharon Stewart. She was a student at the Maroon University. She was looking for a part-time job recently. On her way home, she was grabbed by the man. The man was telling people that she was his wife and was running away from home, and he wanted to take her back.

She realized that she had encountered a human trafficker, but no matter how much she asked for help, passers-by did not dare to come up to help her. But fortunately, Arthur showed up and successfully rescued her.

Having said that, Sharon looked at Arthur with gratitude.

Even though her hair and clothes were messy, you could still tell that she was very beautiful, and her figure wrapped in casual clothes was even more curvy and well-proportioned than thought.

"It was nothing," Arthur waved his hand, "I just felt that you and this man didn't look like a couple."

"Why is that?" Sharon asked curiously, "What's the difference?"

"You are a two-dimensional beautiful girl, and he is a three-dimensional greasy bear." Arthur said with a smile.

"Pfft", Sharon couldn't help laughing after hearing Arthur's words, and the anxiety caused by almost being abducted by human traffickers was also relieved. "Man, you are so funny."

Hearing Sharon's evaluation of him as "funny", Arthur asked in pretense. "I am?"

Sharon also started to chuckle.

They quickly cooperated with the police to complete the statement, and by the time everything was done, it was already dark.

Sharon invited Arthur to have a meal, but Arthur refused: "It's quite late, you should go back home. Moreover, I just finished eating."

"......Yeah." Sharon blushed and nodded. It was the first time she met a man as gentle and considerate as Arthur.

When the taxi arrived at its destination, Sharon mustered up her courage and looked at Arthur. "Can I add you online?"

"Okay." Arthur didn't feel Sharon's shyness at all. He took out his cell phone and the two exchanged online messages. Then he waved at Sharon and left in a taxi.

Sharon stood there, her beautiful eyes looking in the direction Arthur left, unwilling to move away for a long time.

When he got home, Arthur took a shower first and then received a call from his mother.

"Son, how did your father's medical expenses deposit get over a hundred thousand?" His. mother anxiously asked about the source of the large sum of money. "Did you get involved in something stupid?"

"Mom, I didn't do anything stupid. The money is a reward for saving a girl today. Her family is vey rich and they wanted to thank me for it." Hearing his mother's caring voice, Arthur smiled and felt warm in his heart. He was afraid that his mother would continue to question him, so he made an excuse that he was very tired and hung up the phone.

After hanging up the phone with his mother, Arthur called the hospital again and asked how much it would cost to completely cure his father's illness.

On the other side of the phone, the attending doctor hesitantly said the price. "Mr. Smiths, the 100,000 dollar you deposited with the hospital can currently maintain your father's medical needs and control his condition. But if you want to cure him completely, at least 1 million will be needed."

In the past, Arthur would have fainted after hearing the words “one million”, but now he didn't hesitate at all: "Okay, but are you sure my dad will be cured?"

The attending physician was just about to persuade Arthur to give up when he heard a firm voice coming from the other end of the line. He was stunned for a moment, suspecting that he had heard wrongly. "Mr. Smiths, I mean we need at least one million..."

"I understand." Arthur interrupted the attending physician without hesitation. "If everything is considered according to the best standards, how much will it cost?"

The doctor remembered that Arthur was still trying to gather some money yesterday, but he was thinking about coming up with several million today?

Arthur's sudden change made the doctor a little uncomfortable, but he quickly calculated the result: "It will cost about three million, which can ensure that your father's cure rate is close to 100%, and his subsequent recovery will be assured."

"Okay." Arthur agreed immediately.

A few minutes later, the hospital received three million in medical funds.

Looking at the balance in his account, Arthur breathed a sigh of relief. He suddenly lowered his head, buried it in his arms and began to cry. Who said men didn't cry? Men didn't shed tears easily, because they haven't reached the point of being totally sad.

Arthur's father was an ordinary farmer. He was not tall, muscular, rich, and had no education, but he was the one who raised Arthur and supported him until he graduated from college. As a result of his father overworking himself, he fell seriously ill just as Arthur started working.

He thought he was going to lose his father, but unexpectedly God took care of him and gave him a golden finger, allowing him to save his father and continue to take care of him in the future.

Wiping away his tears, Arthur clenched his fists firmly. He must take care of his father from now on.

Glancing at the wall clock, he found that it was already past twelve. He quickly turned on the Fortune Engine system and stared at the swinging hook for a long time, intending to hook out a house.

Just as he was gathering his energy and pressing the space bar with his finger, there was a sudden knock on the door. "Arthur, are you here? Your rent is overdue""
