Alph looked at the cautious group, trying to make himself look as fierce as possible.
When he was lazily waiting for dinner he had suddenly felt the orc engaging in battle and he had been observing from the start. The axe wielding brute, the small and frail looking priestess, the witch with voluptuous body, the shadowy assassin and the sharpshooter at the back.He could see all of them with the grimoir's aerial view, being able to locate the hidden enemies, it was like a cheat. However the orc was outnumbered and outmatched but Alph had decided to let it fight in order to figure out the group's strength. The group was strong and he might not be able to defeat them even with both of his slaves working together. However he had still decided to meet them on his own accord because there was a great probability that the group might enter the cave and if they did, they would face off sooner or later. He felt that it was better to make an impactful entrance, maybe he could use it to negotiate and avoid conflict. After all, these were the first human beings he had met after coming to this world, fighting and quite possibly dying by their hands was the last thing he wanted. Now, by the looks of it he might have actually succeed in his plan. The group were thoroughly shocked and were greatly overestimating the young man in front of them. Why? Because of the young Draylion beside him.Draylions lived in groups of family members ranging from as little as 4 to as many as 20.Not only that, Draylions were extremely protective towards their family member and would lay down their lives in order to avenge if any of them were killed or captured. For this reason there was a saying among the adventurers and hunters, if you want to hunt a Draylion prepare to hunt ten.The young man in front of them had not only, most likely, killed off a group of Draylions but had also successfully captured and tamed one.One should know that Draylions were very difficult to tame due to their extreme personality, they would rather die."May I ask who you are?" After calculating the pros and cons, Kane came to the conclusion that conflict should be avoided if possible. If his guess was right the young man was probably tier 3 beast tamer or at least an apprentice of a tier 4 beast tamer.Beast tamers were a rare breed and they were very sought after, hence a tier 3 beast tamer was considered an equal of a gold ranked adventurer while Kane and the rest were only silver ranks."Hmm? Aren't you the one's who should introduce yourself first? Why did you attack my pet?" Alph was relieved that his act was working and decided to continue it.He folded his arms casually as he demanded."Ah! We are a group of adventurers. We were just passing by and saw the strange orc. We thought it was a mutated orc and so we decided to kill it, we didn't know it was a tamed pet" Kane explained truthfully but hid some details."I see, it doesn't matter. It's just an orc after all' He eased his expression, as if it was something trivial to him.Kane and the group were even more shocked and relieved that the man in front of them didn't seem aggressive, such a powerful intelligent orc wasn't even worth mentioning to him!Although it wasn't hard for them to kill it with their combined effort, taming it was infinitely harder."So, are you really sure you were just passing by?" Alph asked because he found it weird.Till now he had been using the orc to explore the forest daily and he had yet to find any signs of human settlement or traces of human activity. It could be thus concluded that the forest was truly huge and the cave was located deep inside it, in a place with almost no human activity so he couldn't accept the "Just passing by" excuse unless he was a fool."Uhm" Kane hesitated, he knew it wouldn't be of any use to try to dodge anymore. If the young man in front of them was also someone who knew about the cave or a greedy person in general he could only risk his life and fight it out with him.Kane and the group had been searching for the Cave Of Tranquility for such a long time so of course there was something valuable to gain from it.In fact, Kane had been searching for it since way before he had even met the group members. At that time he was just a teenager, his father had died of illness and left behind a letter and his research about the Cave Of Tranquility.Long ago the Cave Of Tranquility was a local legend, known throughout the towns and cities around the great forest of Lumina. It was said that long ago an ancient high elf who had passed through the great forest had built a cave and left behind treasures and artifacts for those who could find it.There used to be many adventurers and treasure hunters who would venture into the seemingly endless forest, which was as big as a continent, in search of the legendary cave. However as time went by, the people started regarding it as a mere myth after countless expeditions lost their lives in the forest without even finding a hint of the cave. But when almost everyone had labelled it as fabricated folklore Kane's ancestors, the Phayls, refused to give up because they were in possession of an ancient map, a scroll entailing the location of the cave and the method of unsealing the treasure inside it.The Phayls were a family of adventurers and were very esperienced and knowledgeable, however the map was written in ancient elven language which made it almost impossible for them to understand it.Nonetheless his ancestors spent their entire lives researching it and after generations of effort, a lot of the map had been decoded.Kane's father was also unable to find the cave but his experiences had paved the way for Kane. Now, in this era where the Cave Of Tranquility had been completely forgotten and could only be found in collections of old myths and legends Kane had fulfilled his ancestor's mission. But now that he had finally succeeded he was faced with a situation where he might loose it all, including his life."Don't misunderstand, I have no intentions of meddling in your affairs. I'm just here to train my body and soul" Seeing that Kane had suddenly become tensed again Alph waved his hand.It didn't matter to him what they were after because right now his biggest concern was to escape this damn forest. Not to mention that he might not be able to win against them unless he cancelled Dane's character development, which would be a huge loss."Let's start things over, I'm Alph Quint, a traveler" Alph vaguely introduced himself to appear mysterious."I'm Kane Phayl an adventurer and these are my friends and fellow adventurers" Kane was very thankful that Alph didn't seem to know about the legend, he didn't appear to be hostile either."I'm Raiden!" As someone who didn't think too much, Raiden hadn't noticed the short moment of tension between Alph and Kane."Mokuzen" True to his nature, Mokuzen was still cautious and wary of Alph."Riri, you can call me witch if you like" With a flirtatious smile, Riri winked at Alph."I-I'm S-Saila!" Stuttering, Saila squeezed out her name with some difficulty but there was a mysterious glint in her eyes that she hid by facing the ground.*A smart and calculative leader type, a brute and simple warrior type, a cautious and silent assassin* Alph looked at the three men and mentally noted their characteristics and personalities.*On the other hand, a flirtatious witch, literally! And a cute and innocent priestess! Damn these men are lucky!* Alph, as a man, wasn't blind to beauties but he had a good self control. He only casually glanced at them and stopped himself from staring, especially Riri with her.... Uhm.Now that the initial introductions were out of the way, Alph had established his attitude towards the adventurers.Kane however was still perplexed. He was afraid that the young beast tamer might also be after the Elven Treasure, or worse yet might have already obtained them.Seeing Kane struggling to make his next move, Riri rolled her eyes at him."You said you were here to train your body and soul right? So you aren't after the Elven Treasures?" She got directly to the point, leaving Kane befuddled."Ah so is that what you are worries about? Haha no, I'm not after any treasures" Alph, finally understanding why Kane had been acting so strange, casually commented. His first priority was to learn about this world and to get out of the forest, he didn't care about any Elven Treasures."Instead how about this? Seeings that you seem to know your way around this place, I want to hire the lot of you" Alph decided to strike while the iron was hot and directly got to the point."You see I'm not exactly from this region so I'm not that familiar. It's good fortune for me to run into an experienced team of adventurerssuch as yourselves" He further added."Uhm, I see. I'm very grateful for your generosity sir, and of course we don't mind helping you in exchange. What can we do for you?" Kane spoke, feeling a heavy burden being lifted off of him. After all, there really was no reason for Alph to start living in the forest if he was there just for the Elven Forest. The Cave Of Tranquility was said to have the effects of calming the mind and inducing tranquility, hence it was possible that Alph was really there to train his mind and soul as he had said."I just need your help getting to the nearest city and of course I can pay if needed" Alph was wiling to give up a few Golden
Rooaarrrr!A giant bear standing on two legs with wisps of flames covering it's body roared in pain. There was a green, glowing arrow sticking in it's left eye and greenish veins covered the left side of it's face, squirming erratically.Raiden faced against the huge bear which was more than double his already big size, there was a visible claw mark on his chest. The piece of white cloth, which was tied on his left arm, poured out a burst of white light which started to quickly heal his wounds.Bang! He gripped the silver battleaxe tightly and blocked the fiery claws of the giant bear which caused the ground around him to cave in."Haaaaaa!" Raiden roared and dense silver aura erupted from his body, temporarily increasing his strength threefold. His muscles bulged to their limit and he jerked the battleaxe against the bear's claw, causing it to be thrown back and take a few steps back, creating a split second of opening."Now!' Kane shouted from a tree with the green elven bow in his
Alph Played around with the grimoir for a while before preparing to sleep.Tomorrow they would be leaving the forest and arriving at a town, he couldn't wait to see what the towns and cities in this world were like. The Draylion was already standing guard near their camp, he had ordered it to send him distress signals if it encountered anything suspicious, and after telling the Orc to stand guard near his tent and do the same Alph decided to retire for the night."Maybe we can throw a surprise party for Kane and Saila!" He was still thinking about the new couple, he wanted to congratulate them properly. He closed his eyes with such thoughts and soon he fell asleep. It was a silent night, the moon hung high and the stars shined brilliantly. In the silent and beautiful night, a short girl wearing a priestess robe was hurrying towards a certain direction. Her eyes were slightly red and tears were streaming down her face. She stopped after arriving in front of a tent, there was panick, unc
Four days later something strange happened, the Grimoire Of Gluttony which was lying on the ground near Alph suddenly started floating and opened up by itself. It flipped to Dane's page and a strange mix of golden and red light burst out from it, materializing into the figure of a man before solidifying as, the now vastly different from before, Dane.He wore an exquisite white suit with golden and red embroideries. His white hair and aged face had an extremely holy and noble aura about them making him look like a dignified saint."Master...." He looked at the petrified Alph and anger flashed in his eyes.He quickly stepped in front of him and a golden knife materialized In his right hand. The golden knife had an exquisite appearance and it was overflowing with holy aura.He gripped the knife tightly and stabbed it into Alph's chest. The stone surface didn't pose any hindrance to the knife and it easily pierced through. Not stopping there, he summoned another golden knife and this time
The town of Ruid was a bustling town. Although it was labeled a town, it rivaled cities in population and prosperity.Located right beside the Great Forest Of Lumina, Ruid was an ideal location for adventurers and the likes and there was no lack of opportunities in the town. With a history dating back to times even preceding the kingdom itself, Ruid held the distinction of being a Royal Town. As such, it wasn't under the territory of a noble or a lord but instead came directly under the royalty. It was a town of high status and importance and it didn't have any lack of wealthy individuals hence the town had a separate area for them called the Noble District. The Noble District was a symbol of luxury and grandeur. It was a neighborhood that was exclusively reserved for the town's most prosperous citizens. The streets here were wide and clean and adorned with elegant lamp posts that cast a warm glow on the surroundings. Lush trees lined the pavements, adding a touch of greenery and seren
"We are in the town of Ruid, Master," Dane spoke while still in a bowing position."Town of Ruid... I guess it wasn't a dream then." Alph massaged his sore templeds, his thoughts slowly getting back on track. He looked around at the luxurious room, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable, Alph asked, "I guess a lot happened while I was knocked out.""Yes Master, you were unconscious for 26 days and in your absence I did my utmost to gather information and build a position in the town. Right now I hold a very high status as a Saint," Dane replied."A Saint?" Alph only got more confused. It seemed like Dane's character development had greatly boosted his powers, it was good that Dane had obtained a high status in the town but Alph was still somewhat numb.He hadn't been in this world for long and he had already nearly died, not to mention lost all of the friends he had just made.Dak!Dak!"Dane-" Just as Alph was about to ask another question, someone knocked on the bedroom door."Did you c
"Her full name is Elizabeth Eris Lane. She hails from a noble family but her father was accused of blasphemy by the Church of Vallan for preaching the teachings of a different religion in his territory," Dane started to recount her past."He and all of his sons were publicly executed by the Church's Inquisitors and Elizabeth and her mother were sold into slavery. Soon her mother died and she has since lived a life of a lowly slave, being passed from one master to another," He continued, his voice as cold as ever."I bought her off from her previous master, I deemed that her broken spirit would be far easier to tame," Dane concluded, as if he wasn't talking about a human being but a pet.Alph was silent, normally his reaction would have been of anger and disgust but right now, he didn't feel anything.*It's not like Dane did anything wrong, her life was already doomed. If anything he might have saved her* Alph thought.*Anyways, what's all this about Dane becoming a Saint?* Alph drove a
"T-This, what's all this?" Alph looked through his profile, feeling confused. It was completely different from the way the Grimoire Of Gluttony displayed the information, which Alph had yet figured out.But what caught his attention the most was the last paragraph, "Special Condition?"*The Holy Blade Of Sacrifice is one of Dane's special skills so this means that he has used that skill two times on me and with two different sacrifices...*Alph didn't know how he should feel about it, Dane was just looking out for his safety and the skill explicitly stated that the sacrifice must agree for the skill to work, how had Dane persuaded someone to throw away their life? And who were the sacrifices? Also the last special condition seemed a bit concerning, normally otherworlders were granted special perks but there were only question marks about it, Alph didn't know if it was beneficial or harmful.*There's no use me sulking over it, I'll find out sooner or later*Right now, he was more conce
