At The Dean's Office.
How would he get used to the fact that he is now a rich young man? Michael Guterson thought. He had forgotten he'd be having his phone changed today.
Michael thought about telling Sebastian to leave it only when he returned but remembered he'd still be having a group class after the nine o'clock lecture. Now is the perfect time. He'd only be some minutes late for the lectures. Mr. Francis never even keeps to time.
Michael went with Sebastian to a big electronics store. It was obvious poor people can't get a thing there. Everything was set in glass casings.
With the help of Sebastian, Michael chose the hottest phone brand. It was a Samsung LX3D. The newest release.
"Seventy-three thousand dollars sir", the store's attendant said.
Michael was about to withdraw his phone from his pocket to make a transfer when Sebastian gave him a green card. "Here, Elegant Young Sir Michael, Mama G said I should give you this to take care of all your transfers."
Michael didn't know what and how important the green card was, but he was just happy that he now has a card for all his transfers.
"Your pin sir",
"Please input a new one you won't forget. Mama G already disabled the old." Sebastian quickly chipped.
"..****.."
"It must be five digits or more sir." The attendant said again.
Michael immediately added a last zero, which was his admission number with an extra digit between, so he wouldn't forget.
He saw Sebastian drive away as he headed for his lectures.
"Sorry, Mr. Guterson, but you can't have access to this class." Mr. Frances said from seeing him walk into the hall.
Was it his clothes? Michael thought. Yes, they're tattered but that wasn't the first day he's attending lectures with them.
"But sir…"
"If you have any explanations, I'm sorry you'll have to see the bursary department."
Mr. Francis mentioned bursary then it dawned on Michael it has to be a thing relating to money.
He saw his classmates all burst into a laugh as he was denied access to the class he hastened to meet me.
"He thinks Coles is for poor brats like him", he could hear them say.
"But I'll miss his laundry and janitor services. The guy is a good cleaner", another voice echoed to Michael's hearing, and this time, it was no doubt Dave. He could tell his voice at any instance.
But Mr. Lawrence had promised the company would be sponsoring his tuition fees till graduation. Michael wondered what the problem might be. But whatever it is, money is now not his problem. He can afford his fees by himself.
Michael looked, Eunice was giving him a grin. Eunice was the only lady in his class who talked gently to him and never joined the crowd to mock him. At a certain time, he thought of asking her out, but he couldn't as he wondered why his heart was all into Diane.
He looked, Diane and Will were not in the class, the roars of laughter would have been more, he thought.
Michael was heading straight to the bursary department. He needs to know why he would be denied access to a class just like that. He has never seen a thing like that done to any student in Coles, even though their parents are all rich.
"Why must you follow us all around?"
Diane said, as he entered Dean Park's office and saw Diane and Will there. He wondered if they pay their fees themselves or what would bring them to Park's office.
"Sir, I was told to see you regarding my tuition fees", Michael said to the dean, ignoring the two.
"Yes Michael, Mr. Lawrence settled your fees to your third year. All students he brought here settle their final year fees, while he brings new ones to sponsor."
Michael wondered how a thing like that would be done and they wouldn't have him informed until the last minute.
"Can you two please excuse us?", Dean Park said.
Michael was happy as he never wanted to bring out the green card to settle the bills before Diane and Will. At least not now, his identity should still be concealed.
"Here, sir.." Michael Guterson said, bringing out the green card from his pocket.
"Heyyy ..WHERE did you get this from Michael Guterson!!!?"
Mr. Park was screaming already.
"Can you please lower your voice sir", Michael pleaded.
"Help!!! Help!!!! Thugs and touts are now in Coles. Who did you rob Michael?"
Mr. Park was screaming and this time, at the top of his voice. All of the block's members of staff were already gathering in response to his raised alarm.
"I know you must be a thief. From the first time I saw you in Coles, I wondered why Lawrence chose you." The Chief accountant yelled.
"I'm not a thief Ma." Michael struggled to say. Tears were already gathering in his eyes. A lot comes with riches too, he thought.
"Allow him to input the card's pin if he's sure he didn't take this from anyone." Another voice echoed.
"Yes, let him input." Two feminine voices chorused.
Michael was waiting for them to bring him the small payout machine just so he could prove to them when he saw Will and Diane walk in. They didn't leave and were eavesdropping on the discussion all that while?
"No need for that, I have a testimony." The members of staff all turned to the two students.
"This boy is nothing but a thief. We stay with him in the hostel and know the number of times we have our stuffs missing. We just couldn't report him because we had no clear evidence. He has just proven himself now." Will said, firmly.
"Who are you, his friend?" Mr. Park inquired.
"I can never be a friend to a thief, sir. He's only a dorm mate."
Michael didn't know what to say. He wondered how he would prove it. He was just about using the pin to prove his innocence when the demon came in.
As Michael watched, two hefty-looking security officers walked in, "Come with us young man."
The Card At Royale Couture.MICHAEL thought about revealing to them immediately, who he was, but that would have all eyes on him in the entire school. He wasn't even done with the embarrassment from Diane's party. He was sure his pictures and video recordings were all across social media."Michael..?" A voice called just when Michael was about to walk with the security officers to where he didn't even know. He looked, it was Barrister Dan, Coles University's chancellor. The same man his grandmother told him was then his father's friend."Where are you taking him to?, Mr. Dan asked the officers."This poor thing here is nothing but a thief. He stole a green card from who we don't even know, and came here to use it to settle his tuition fees." Mr. Park said."Let him be, Now!!" Dan, who was their University's chancellor and also a barrister said."What..!??" The members of staff chorused."If you all don't want to lose your jobs right now, let the young master released!"Young master?
Glass Comb.Diane was lost what Michael had turned out to be just in few hours, and how people are now bowing to him even the middle-aged man. "Who are these two to you? I see you've grown wings now Michael" Will said. Before the security officers could arrive, Diane and Will already found their way out of the building."So sorry young master!", the middle-aged man said again.Michael was still confused as he turned to leave. He saw the man hurry to the door even before him, he pushed the door open directing Michael to just walk out.Michael was walking out when the man screamed again, "Please Mama G shouldn't know about this."Michael laughed."What will I even tell her?" he muttered to himself.*****It was evening already and Michael decided to return to the hostel. The boys probably must have gone to meet their girls, they'll just be out. The hostel's population is normally reduced drastically during the evenings and sometimes, Michael wondered where they all go to."Heyy gutter.
The Paper Signing."I am talking to you Diane, what are you doing here and without your super boyfriend?"Another flush of confidence ran through Michael Guterson. It was Diane. His dislike for her was now becoming intense. Instantly, Michael had no iota of love for the woman he had always desired."You know I love you, you know I love you, Michael. You are the only super boyfriend I have."Michael ignored, "Can we continue dude?", Michael said, ordering his barber to continue what he was doing."I came to have my hair regelled so I saw you and thought you could just order me a fresh hairdo so we could look new altogether. No one would look good and have his woman look the other way round, is that?" Diane continued again."For your information Diane or whatever it is you are called, I am not your super boyfriend and will never be. Not ever again. If you need Will, I believe you have a cell phone in your hand to call him."Just when Michael Guterson uttered that statement, his phone be
THE DRIVE"IT'S NOTHING, I WANT YOU TO PLEASE HELP ME SIGN THESE DOCUMENTS, WILL RICHARDSON'S SON IS IN POLICE CUSTODY. Only these documents confirming he's the highest shareholder of the G.G's Place would allow him live."Mama G was right behind, seated in the sleek Limou. Michael Guterson didn't know."Will Richardson?", Michael tried to inquire from his grandmother. "Yes, Will Richardson". Mama G said.Granting his grandmother's wish shouldn't be something he should hesitate to do, no matter what it is. Michael Guterson thought."Michael pleaseee… Don't do this to me. Pleaseee.. You know I love you.""Shall we, Sebastian?" Michael Guterson said, without trying to inquire where the documents were, quickly taking off his body from Diane as he never wanted his grandmother to know what was really going on."Everything okay?" Mama G inquired."Everything is fine Grandma. Just classmates from the dorm." Michael said, shying away from anything that would lead him to mention Diane to his
PLAYGROUND "Do take care of yourself Elegant Young Master", Sebastian said, as he bid Michael Guterson farewell. But Michael's attention wasn't even on Sebastian. Seeing Dave at the pitch would be hell. Since the past weeks, the gang-up between Will and him was just so much."Where you see people who aren't in your class, why would you consider being there?"A strange voice echoed. Michael turned, it was a tall, blonde-haired guy he had never seen in Coles before."I know you probably don't even know me. But who does not know the only Gutter we have in Coles?" Fred, a first-year student just admitted into Coles continued. But how would they all confuse him this way? Michael thought. They just hailed him, probably when Diane was at his knees, and now, a first-year student was telling him gibberish. If only they had known who he was. But didn't the sleek Limou that came pick him the other day tell them enough?Does he have to officially reveal himself as a rich young master? Michael
NOT NOW Michael Guterson had no option, he would leave, he never wanted any avoidable trouble on him again. But if only Dave knew who he was now, that he was really a rich young master, that he was now an heir, and not just an heir, but one to an Empire; the Guterson's Empire. But what about his reputation? Would the boys all tag him a thief? Would Dave explain he only wanted him out of the space? Maybe he should just return to the mansion, Michael thought. He stood up to leave. Not because if he stays, he can't contain the trouble with Dave, but because he still needs no trouble. At least, for his mental health. His phone was buzzing, few kilometers away from the dorm. "My sweet girl", he still hasn't changed Diane's name the way he had it saved to his phone already. "Completely not worth it," Michael Guterson muttered to himself, immediately heading to the 'edit' part of his phone contacts as he changed Diane's name to what it is. "Diane Ross." "Or maybe I just have it d
Michael Guterson didn't know when those words slipped out of his mouth. Mr. Victor and the walls might have just heard him.Dave turned, giving Michael Guterson a depressing look."Gutter,"But that was just where he should be. A form of concentration and understanding tends to be at the particular place Michael loves to sit. He can't even lie to himself. He headed straight there and immediately made grasp of a seat. All new. Coles had just changed the look of its library. The chairs looked as if they were brought straight from the work area. The seats are padded with soft foams to give a different kind of comfort while students study; an area for the back, and an armrest just so one wouldn't get tired on time.Michael Guterson's seat was close, but adjacent to Dave's.Michael Guterson thought a "good morning" wouldn't be bad, but his lips just couldn't let out, although humility had always been his thing.Dave was known for arrogance. Expecting a 'good morning' from him to anyone s
Gutter Boy."Gutter or Guter boy, whichever it is you call yourself, my dishes are still left dirty. If you waste one more minute, I'll have you wash them and still not give you a dime."Dave threatened."Those uniforms I gave you, it's like you want to lose this good job that still helps you keep your neck to your head." Richard continued. But Michael Guterson was only trying to round up ironing the hostel rep's suit. He had told him he either gets them before six a.m., or Michael Guterson knows the rest.On a certain day Michael refused to do his laundry because he said he wasn't going to pay, Michael submitted his assignment and had it left on the chair. Tir, their class rep left it there and didn't bother to take it with the others to submit to their Management lecturer. It was an assignment on Principles of Management. But Michael Guterson couldn't do anything. He can't go to report to anyone, he had no one.Michael was already used to being called Gutter Boy. Though his surname
