When things got to this point, Garvin finally made up his mind and decided to abandon his previous atheism. He went to a the Shaman shrine on the outskirts of Oklahoma that he had never been to before. He underwent a string of rituals that were said to have sandalwood bracelet with miraculous effect to escape evil spirits.

But on the night he got the bracelet, he saw the figure of a middle-aged woman floating in the air at the door of the emergency room of the emergency department where he was newly transferred (accurately, he was kicked out).

This woman's body had just been taken to the hospital morgue on a cart by a nurse. The cause of her death was suicide by hanging, and the reason for her suicide was that her husband, a contractor, had a mistress and wanted to divorce her.
