Vanessa was downcast, head bowed, soaking herself in liquor in the dining room when Fidellin came to join her.

"Care to share?" he asked pitifully, and he took another glass for himself.

"I saw Fredrick today at Torillio’s place," she floored.

"Why am I not surprised?" he asked coldly. "I still think I owe him for selling him out to Brandon that day, I feel guilty, Fidellin."

He drifted closer to her and hugged her. He kissed her on the forehead and lifted her face. "Look at me; you did nothing wrong, okay?" he uttered carefully.

"I know you hate me now, don’t you? All you feel for me is nothing but pity, right? I am miserable," she said to him in tears. "Stop it, Vanessa; he doesn’t deserve this. Will you listen to me now?" he asked, cleaning up her tears.

"Go to Brandon; get your father out of his claws no matter what it costs; what is there to lose? He’s married, or do you still love him?" Fidellin asked as he poured down a drink to brace
