It’s the bitter from the Ricin which feels very thick on the tongue. It’s something that Viona never considered before. Of course, she never knows what it tastes like because she never tries it herself. She can only observe Victor in silence with mixed feelings. Most part of herself hopes that Victor wasn’t poisoned, but that Ricin will take time before the inflicted one showing any symptoms. This is one of the weaknesses of trying to poison someone with Ricin through oral. Because it has a strong bitter taste on the tongue that the one who tastes it might just be unable to swallow it. Now Viona can’t do anything to make sure if Victor has really been poisoned or not. But later, when it’s too late, there will be nothing she can do to save him either. Not knowing what to do, she heads to her bedroom with mixed feelings, and it catches Victor’s attention. The same with Judy and Ulfida. “What’s wrong with her?” Ulfida mumbles. “What is it, Victor? Did something happen?” asks Judy.
He rubs his nose like he already remembers the itchy feeling to his nostril even before he inhales that white powder. So little does he know, that white power is not methamphetamine. But somehow, he feels so unsure about doing drugs again. He has felt how great it is to be a healthy macho guy. And his mind is clear now, unlike the brain he had when he was a junkie. He can think so clearly, but still, the urge to re-taste the scene of heaven is growing bigger in his mind and heart. His heartbeat starts increasing as he reconsiders consuming drugs again. “Well, it’s just a cheap drug. It won’t be that serious. Sorry, babe, I’m not saying you are cheap, but, well, here I come.” He then heads to the bathroom. But then he cancels again his intention. He begins to be worried, what if something happens, and he needs some help. He then closes that bathroom door, and decides to just do it there in the bedroom. Meanwhile, Victor and Viona are still having a quarrel in the pool yard. And rig
Mike takes a long sigh. He doesn’t want to take the risk of taking Victor back to the hideout. It will be such a rush if Victor’s condition gets so serious and forces him to see a doctor. Rather than taking him back home, Mike takes Victor to Dr. Chris Lamar’s clinic. And just like before, their arrival only disturbs the bald doctor's rest. But Victor’s fever is only getting even more serious. And Dr. Chris Lamar has no choice but to accept him that late. “Why is he so wet like this? What happened to him?” “He fell into the pool an hour ago,” replies Mike. “And you didn’t take off his wet clothes? What if he dies of hypothermia?” Mike scrunched up his face, as he feels that Dr. Lamar's worry is too exaggerated. Dr. Lamar just shakes his head as he immediately takes Victor’s wet clothes. He then tells Mike to bring Victor inside. Mike just carries Victor without waking him up. It’s clear that Victor won’t be able to walk by himself in that situation. The next day, Viona wakes u
In fact, Victor had been complaining of nausea, with some flatulence and feeling some kind of bloated stomach. Not to mention his coughing last night. “How long has it been? When did he receive that letter?” asks Dr. Lamar as he rushes to the treatment room to check on Victor’s situation. “Yesterday in the early afternoon, around 2 p.m,” replies Mike. Dr. Lamar immediately stops. He turns back while checking on his wristwatch with some serious expression on his face. He starts counting how long it has been since Victor received that letter. Mike and Viona are looking so worried as they wait for Dr. Lamar’s evaluation. They don’t know what’s inside that black dude’s head. They know that Dr. Lamar is just an orthopedic doctor. But at least, they believe Dr. Lamar has some knowledge about that poisoning case. Without saying anything, Dr. Lamar turns away and checks on Victor’s condition. He checks on Victor’s temperature, and finds Victor's fever has also gone down quite a bit. He
Viona is silent for a moment, thinking about what kind of lie she should give to Charles William. Not just thinking about lies, it seems like she is still doubting her decision to leave Indiana. [Don’t tell me you had a fight with Victor?] “Not really. I just feel that my existence would just be a hindrance to his growth. If you really want him to be mature in business, then I shouldn’t stay with him. For some reason, he always behaves like a kid every time I’m around him.” [It can’t be helped, you really have been acting like the big sister to him since you were kids. That’s why I told you before, to not babysit him anymore. When I told you that, I wasn’t preventing you from helping him. But I wanted you to stop treating him like he couldn’t do things by himself. The truth is, he is more mature than what you think] “Yeah, I have been realizing it too. But then, I kept finding him making silly mistakes and not taking things seriously. Only recently I noticed that maybe, it was bec
When Victor enters Viona’s office, he finds her collecting the stuff she is going to take out with her into a box. Without saying anything, Victor takes them out of that box and puts them back one by one on Viona’s working desk. “Don’t tell me you leave just because of the guilt for the prank you did last night. Come on! It’s not a big deal.” Viona doesn’t say a word. She keeps putting her stuff into the box, and Victor keeps taking them out of it. Until at some point, she stops and puts both hands on her waist with a plain face and a tired sigh. She then just turns away like she intends to leave the office without taking those things. But Victor immediately holds her hand. “Please, stay with me! We need you here. I need you,” he pleads. “But your dad also needs me. If I have to choose to ignore your request or his request, you should already know which request I should ignore,” replies Viona. “Don’t lie to me! I’m not a kid anymore. I know there’s something you are hiding from m
Benjamin Smith takes a deep breath with an uninspired face. “We strongly suggest you promote Liam Miller to replace Viona’s position.”“Oh, right! About finding Viona’s replacement. Hm? Liam Miller? He is the brother of that famous lawyer named Elijah Miller, right?” asks Victor with a sense of unsure expression on his face.Mrs. Emilia sighs a bit, seeming to understand why Victor doesn’t like Benjamin’s idea.“I know you had an issue with Elijah Miller. He was the one who defended your ex-wife in a dispute about marital settlement against you two months ago. But Liam Miller is a man you can trust.”“You see, Liam Miller, Julian Robert, Samuel Anderson, and Tony Lee. These four managers were chosen by Charles himself. If you are a bit reluctant to promote Liam Miller, there are still three other candidates. I suggest you choose those who we really can trust. Not only about business, but also about your connection with Charles William.”Even after that convincing long explanation from
Meanwhile, Victor is just standing behind the glass office walls, looking at the outside view with so many thoughts. When Judy enters that office and informs him that she has finished packing Viona’s stuff, Victor doesn’t give any response. It makes Judy a bit reluctant to disturb him even more. So she just continues walking to her working desk. But there’s almost nothing she needs to do at the moment, and it only makes her even more awkward with that silence.Victor is still standing there until the next few hours. Only when it’s time for lunch, Judy has something that she can use to attract Victor’s attention.“Hey, I’m going out for lunch. Need me to bring you something?” she asks.It manages to shake Victor’s mind. He turns slightly at first, but then grabs his phone on the working desk and decides to join Judy for lunch.“Why don’t I just go with you?” he says with a slight smile.“Nice, why don’t you just treat me then,” replies Judy by closing it with her childish teehee. When
