About Charles' past, I planned to write a flashback story. But the story itself is worth a book of novel. I even tried to make it short, but still it reached 3 chapters of flashback. It was too long. So I canceled it, and then make it brief here. But I plan to publish these flashback stories later after the end of this novel. I'll put them as bonus chapters at the end. For now, I'll focus to keep the story runs forward as good as possible.
Viona can’t put up a word to explain it without making Charles know about everything. But then, she realizes that there’s no reason for her to hide it anymore. “Because I was the one who gave the Ricin to Catarina. I’m sorry, Charles! We did have the intention to kill you. I thought you were the one who killed my mom. We even thought about killing Victor.” “What? Why would you put the blame on Victor too? He has nothing to do with this.” “I know! But Catarina wasn’t satisfied simply by killing you. She thought that the only thing to punish you is to kill the one you love,” she explains. Charles’ lips are shaking. He willingly accepts the consequence for the hatred that he has planted in Catarina’s heart. But he never expected that her hatred would be this big and serious. Viona starts calling the maid, asking them to tell the driver to prepare a car for Charles. It’s still better to take Charles by using an ambulance. But she still thinks about that alternative in case that ambula
A few moments later, two cops arrive. They intend to take Viona for further investigation, but Viona just clears everything simply by showing them Charles’s video. She never knew that she would be the one who needs it the most. But still, she is now in a dilemma whether to tell them the real story.“A suicide?” mumbles one of the cops. He then raises one of his eyebrows toward Viona, as if he is still in doubt. “Why would he choose Ricin for a suicide? I assume that you are well aware about the characteristics of this poison. You should know how weird it is when someone deliberately chooses Ricin instead of other kind of poison.”“Why don’t you just ask the man himself later. I just happened to find him recording that video. That’s when I knew he was trying to commit suicide. More than suicide, he was trying to punish himself for something,” explains Viona.“A punishment, huh?” responds that cop with a few nods, seeming to find it a bit more reasonable for Charles to pick Ricin.Viona
As the day passes, Victor regains his ability to move his left hand. He keeps practicing by holding a peach, and tries to squeeze it. The development is quite good, but he still hasn’t gained his memory back. However, one thing that makes Pablo less worried is the notion that the hemorrhage in Victor's brain might not be too bad. Now, after treating him for three days, he is already able to leave Victor alone in that cabin when he has to go hunting. At least, there’s Husky watching over Victor while he is not around. When he comes back by bringing three forest rabbits, he finds Victor looking at a photograph on a wooden cabinet. And this is not the first time he finds Victor showing interest in that photograph.“That’s me and my bandmate,” says Pablo. It shakes Victor’s attention. “Band mate?”“Yeah, a music band. It’s a long story. I haven’t seen them for more than five years.”Somehow, Victor feels a bit familiar with that photograph. And of course, it is the same photograph of the
And so, they start swarming Judy together and shower her with so many questions.“Miss, can I have your time for a moment?”“You know that Victor William has become the suspect for the death of Jonathan Atkinson. What’s your take on this? Do you have any opinion?”“Ah, about that...” Judy is at a loss for words to reply to them.“We heard that he went abroad for a while. Do you know where he went?”“Um, that’s...”“Some people have speculated that he might be trying to get away from this case. Is there anything you can say about this?”Judy’s face becomes pale. Some of the securities and the lobby staff have been busy taking those people away. But Judy can’t just ignore everything they said. They spew everything about conspiracy theory, regarding the rumor that Victor is part of some gangsters. They even start bringing a story that Counterbrand could just be the mafia’s nest. As much as she wants to believe in Victor, she can’t just ignore all of those theories and speculations. It se
December 23rd, two days before Christmas, a minivan leaves Atkinson Pharmaceutical Company at night. The Christmas atmosphere is getting thicker, with soft snow falling from the sky. The minivan runs smoothly, accompanied by Jingle Bell Rock music as it heads out of Indianapolis. Based on the direction it takes, it heads to Gary just like always. But now, this minivan isn’t driven by the transporters to Gary to dump the waste of that vaccine project. Instead, they are ready to take that virus out, for whatever sinister intention they are going to do. ♫♫ What a bright time, it's the right time To rock the night away Jingle bell time is a swell time To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh ♫♫ The driver looks cheerful, singing along with the song being played on, ignoring the terrible thing that he is taking with him to Gary. On the 24th, several stores have been prepared for having big sales. So many people have been lining up for quite a long. There are even a few of them who have b
Victor may look so much different now. His beard is so messy. The same with his hair, which is messy and also longer than before, with his head covered by a beanie hat.He still likes to wear that simple white shirt which is visible under his shady and old winter coat. Despite his look, Emma is still able to recognize him.But Victor isn’t responding to her, only holding his head with some painful expression written in his face.“Victor?” he mumbles, as he begins to feel something strange.“You are Victor, right? Of course, you are,” replies Emma with some silly smile and a bit of awkward face. “There’s no way I would mistake you for someone else. What are you doing here in Canada? What’s with this outfit? Don’t tell me you abandon your job and become homeless now.”But Victor is still trying his best to hold the pain in his head. He wants that aspirin so bad. But somehow, a few fragments of his memory are coming back to him albeit not so clear. It’s just some frames of vision coming
Meanwhile, Emma has received the paper to fill in Victor’s data. But she hasn’t filled anything yet.Her face has been so blank. Because she has just seen that news, the same news which Pablo saw earlier. And Emma has also learned that the one who was killed is Lucas’ father, Jonathan Atkinson. She knows that Victor has had an issue with Lucas, since she brought that man into their family affairs. But she can’t believe that Victor would kill Lucas’ dad for that reason. She is still looking so confused and awry with so many suspicions, until her mom comes and shakes her from her deep thought.“Hey! What’s wrong?”“Ah? It’s, nothing!” replies Emma with an uncomfortable face.Olivia mistakes that Emma may feel uncomfortable for the fact she has married without telling her. And so, she just starts explaining to Emma that she is not angry at all.“You left home, and told us that you won’t come back. It’s reasonable if you marry someone without telling us. The fact you are here with us is
Schneider's neck is bulged, and his face is red with rage. He really can’t stand to see someone who he considers so low under him is now acting so high with his words. But he isn’t able to pay back Frank’s arrogant words, because Chief Hopkins immediately tells him to leave. “Like he said, this is his case. You should have told him first before doing anything regarding this issue. Now would you let me have a moment to speak with Officer Frank?” “Sir!” replies Schneider short with a little nod before taking his leave. Soon after that, Chief Hopkins asks Frank Morris to close the door before he asks him about the development of his investigation. “It seems like you don’t have enough interest in this man named Victor. I mean, I know this poster is a bit too much. But come on! It’s not like we should always follow the rule to solve a case.” “Pardon me, sir!” replies Frank with so much formality before expressing his view. “I do have some interest in him. Not just about this case. I h
