What happened to Charles has caught the attention of several gangsters around California. They have been so quiet in the last ten years because of Charles's influence, and have been patient to wait for that old man to die.

In fact, they already see him as a fossil even before this incident, with the thought he is a solitude person without any family and son. Soon after this incident, they start making their move.
