Chapter 143

It happened so fast, with a huge explosion that turned the black car outside the supermarket into rubble. Thick smoke and flames made the car look even more pathetic. Now, people were coming out of the houses and buildings nearby. Even the self-service cashier, who was almost asleep at first, came running out with a green apron on her body.

People gathered around and tried to get a closer look at the source of the explosion. Some of them took pictures and videos at the scene, "What is it that exploded? It's not because he turned on his cell phone while refuelling, right?"

One person from the street came closer and stood on tiptoe, peering into the growing crowd, "Are there any casualties? Did you call the fire department and ambulance?" he asked no one in particular.

No one answered. People were busy speculating on their own. They wondered what had happened and asked if there were any casualties. What was clear was that they hadn't even seen anyone inside the burnt-out car.
