"You sluggard! Hurry up and walk a bit!" Bella yelled with bulging eyes. Occasionally, the fashionably dressed girl stomped her feet in exasperation.
It didn't matter that Julius was carrying so many documents in his hands. Bella still cursed the man, her fiancé, with inappropriate words. Even if everyone made a spectacle of them in the middle of the corridor.
This was not the first time something like this had happened. Almost every day, seeing Julius being mistreated by his fiancée has become a main course for the employees.
Their status today results from Bella's father's request as a form of repayment for the help Julius gave her in the past.
"You're walking like a snail! My feet are aching waiting for you here!" Without lowering her voice, Bella again insulted Julius.
The man, meanwhile, could only sigh softly. His body was still aching, and his energy hadn't fully returned. He had just finished so much draining work. And this morning, he had to come early to help Bella prepare for the meeting.
"Oh my! How you look!" Just as Julius arrived before Bella, the girl started shouting again. Her eyes took in Julius' appearance from top to bottom with a look of disgust.
The one being stared at thus looked down, observing his appearance, "What's wrong?" The man was wearing a material cloth and a shirt, which had already started to wrinkle from working all day. Even then, it was almost late afternoon.
"You still ask what's wrong? Look at your ancient and disgusting appearance! You stink! Don't come near me, it's embarrassing!" Without any compassion, Bella scowled again as if Julius was a germ that she had to eradicate.
In fact, Julius was quite neat. There was nothing strange about him, his clothes were clean, and his hair was not messy. The man wasn't bad, it was just that Bella was always looking for reasons to criticize and humiliate him.
"But-" Julius hadn't finished speaking. Bella cut him off by raising her hand.
"Don't talk so much! Go already! Go to your office! I want to see Dad!" Bella waved her hand in a shooing gesture, then left Julius alone.
The man could only sigh tiredly, "It's okay, everything will be fine, Julius." And Julius entered the room he had used for the past two years. Looking back at the endless pile of work. In fact, it wasn't just the big jobs. It was the little things like photocopying that no one could help him with. Julius had to do everything himself.
"Mr. Noel has been very kind to me, I can't complain and be lazy like this," Julius muttered with determination.
While Julius returned to work, Bella left her father with a sour face. Even without any manners, the girl slammed her father's work door.
Seeing his daughter put on a sullen face, her father, Noel, immediately opened his arms for a comforting hug.
"What's wrong, Bella? Why is your face bent like that?" asked Noel, stroking his daughter's hair. The man with a little grey in his hair seemed to love his daughter very much.
Bella was the type of spoiled girl who loved to splurge. She loves luxury and is not good at pretending, including pretending to like the man who is now her fiancé.
"Father, how long do I have to be engaged to that old-fashioned Julius? I'm so sick of looking at his face!" Bella whined while pursing her lips.
"Hold on a little longer, honey? I promise, soon, when our company becomes more powerful, you can kick him out of your sight!" Noel replied with certainty.
Yes, it was no longer a secret between the two. Bella had agreed to her engagement to Julius because her father insisted. Mr. Noel knew Julius's prowess and intelligence and did not want to waste it. Even when Julius hadn't received a college education, the man still possessed a thousand and one clevernesses that were hard to match.
"But I can't stand it!"
Bella couldn't take it anymore! She felt humiliated for getting engaged to Julius! It hurt her pride!
Julius was in a different situation if Bella was whining to her father.
I don't know how many times Julius took a breath. When the sky darkened and all the employees began to leave the office, he was the only one still there with a thousand and one jobs, which he had to finish before tomorrow morning.
"Wow, it's true what Bella said, you're slow!" A woman's voice entered Julius' hearing. He lifted his face and found Inggrid standing with her arms crossed before the door.
"I'm working late, Inggrid! You can see for yourself!" Julius, who was already tired, slowed down his tone. He wanted to avoid adding to the burden and using up the little energy he had left.
"Admit it, you're slow! If it wasn't for Bella's father's kindness, you wouldn't be here. A poor person like you doesn't deserve to set foot in this place." Inggrid rolled her eyes lightly.
She didn't even care, as her eyes caught the silhouette of Bella, who had just come out of her father's room and walked over. And now stood at Inggrid's side with her eyes bulging.
"Instead of working, you're talking to Inggrid? Ask her about gossip, are you?" chided Bella, who had suddenly appeared. The girl judged Julius without consideration.
"I regret accepting my father's arranged marriage with you! Knowing this, I rejected it first! You're so slow, you gossip like a girl! Look at that! None of your work is done!"
Julius stood up and walked over to Bella, who was next to Inggrid.
"Bel, I'm your fiancé. Whether you have to or not, I'm still your fiancé! After all, what I do is your job!" Julius explained calmly.
Hearing what Julius had to say made Bella's blood boil to the top of her head.
"You insult me?!" Bella pointed with a loud voice.
Julius shook his head, "I'm talking facts, this is all supposed to be your job. I was just helping! You didn't even say thank you!"
"Just say it if you don't want to return the favor! You're a pain in the ass! It's a good thing I picked you up! Otherwise? You'd be a bum after your father died! You're useless!" Throwing some files that didn't seem ready, Bella made Julius her target and left with both hands clenched.
"Shameless!" Inggrid added with a smirk. Before the girl could walk away, she followed Bella wherever she went. Leaving Julius, who was now picking up the files scattered on the floor.
Once all the files were collected, the man carried them to his desk. He removed the glasses perched on his nose all day and used them to vent his long-standing irritation.
The man wondered aloud why Bella hated him so much. Even though he had to, hadn't Julius also done his duty as a good fiancé?
It's true, Julius is just the son of a small leather bag maker. But everyone knew there was nothing to fault in how his brain worked. Julius was smart, he'd always gotten scholarships throughout his schooling. Unfortunately, he couldn't continue his studies because of financial constraints.
Especially when Julius' father was deceived, and all his money ran out. At the same time, the old man was also seriously ill and could not survive. Leaving Julius with a pile of debt that was very difficult to pay.
In the past, Noel helped Julius pay off the debts owed by Julius's late father when the man passed away. Meanwhile, Julius had nothing and could only help Noel with his work to return the favour.
Until that day came, the day when the company's success celebration party was held. A trillion-dollar tender is won. Julius was involved as the person who worked the hardest with his brilliant ideas.
Unfortunately, Julius can't leave immediately. He had a task to complete before morning.
"Slow! Overtime, huh? Poor thing!" a chuckle came from outside the door.
Julius saw a blonde-haired girl laughing with two other men next to her.
"What are you looking at? Are you jealous? Want help to get home quickly? No way!" The man in the blue shirt shook his head and laughed.
"Tch, you poor thing! You're going to be an office waiter for a long time!" The other men, instead of pitying him, teased him.
Mutter, after a muttered mutter of ridicule, Julius didn't care. He remained focused on his work.
"Heh! If you talk to me, answer! Arrogant!" The girl who started the riot spoke again, this time glaring.
"Basic! Slow! Deaf too! It's better to leave them here until they rot with their work!" Realizing that they were not being listened to, one man finally invited his friends to leave in exasperation.
Julius got up and closed the door, feeling that the annoying noise had gone. There was no point in responding to unimportant people like them.
Julius hurried to tidy up his desk and tools as he finished the last document. Looking at the watch on his hand, he realized that he was already very late for the celebration party.
"Better late than never."
Julius didn't bother to change his clothes, he just tidied himself up with a comb and washed his face to make it look a little more presentable.
When Julius arrived, all eyes looked down on him. Their gazes were disgusted, and some of the women deliberately spoke in big voices.
"Doesn't he have any shame?" The woman closest to the door spoke with a reproachful look.
"He's so dirty!" Another one, someone who clearly pointed at Julius with fingers full of gold jewellery.
"Where's his face to come looking like that?" A young girl chimed in.
"Looking at him makes me lose my appetite!" Some women gathering with small snacks openly stuck out their tongues as if they were about to be poisoned.
Julius had gotten so many insults in just a short time. However, the man still continued on his way. Feeling that maybe Bella was in trouble and needed his help.
However, Julius stopped. When his eyes looked up at the pulpit, where Bella was standing holding a handsome man with an extraordinary appearance. Julius was sure that the man was very wealthy from just one look.
"Why do I have such a bad feeling?" muttered Julius.
And sure enough, when Bella smiled and opened her voice, Julius felt like he had just been dropped down the stairs.
"Good evening, everyone. Meet Ramon Neels, my fiancé!" Suddenly, whispers began to be heard. One by one, eyes glanced at Julius, now standing still.
Bella was no exception, the girl was getting attached to the man she called her fiancé. With a sweet smile, she looked at Julius. At that moment, Julius' heart ached!
Julius was shocked! He had struggled so hard to fulfil Mr Noel's wishes. He had said that Julius could marry Bella after the company became stronger. But what did he hear now? Bella was saying that she was going to marry Roman! "But you're my fiancée, Bella! You can't get engaged to someone else like that!" Julius shouted in disgust. His loud voice was clearly getting attention, echoing throughout the room, which was now suddenly silent. Hearing Julius' protest, Mr Noel turned around and gave him a cold stare. Not to mention everyone else who was there. There was no friendly look at all. Julius clearly didn't know how tired Noel was of pretending to be nice to him. Putting on a face full of smiles even though his heart was sick to death. To be honest, Noel already wanted to throw him away. Whispers began to be heard, "Shameless poor man! Where is his face that he can say such a thing?" Julius looked around, the faint buzzing growing louder. Like bees switching hives, they pointe
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Julius tried to escape. It was a little difficult for him because his hands were tied. Moreover, he also had to work quickly and quietly to avoid attracting attention. "Damn, the ties are so strong!" cursed Julius as he tried to stretch the bonds on his hands. But as it turned out, the bonds were much stronger than he had expected. Not out of ideas, Julius bit the end of the rope with difficulty. He did it repeatedly, even when his lips were accidentally bitten and bled. Finally, he was able to release the string from both hands. Without thinking, he threw the rope onto the floor of the car. He had to get out of here immediately! Slowly, Julius pulled the car door handle so as not to make a sound. When the door opened, he glanced at the street. The men who had caught him earlier were busy with an unknown man. They were fighting, battling it out in the middle of the road. So, Julius quickly fled from there. "Damn!" he cursed, accidentally almost
Julius threw his hands up, "You must be lying! Everyone knows who Luckystone is!" Julius shouted, stopping whatever Jeff was trying to say. Even the most ignorant person would know who this woman was and how influential her name was in this country. "Luckystone is the wealthiest family in the country of Scasia! Talk sense, and don't try to fool me, I won't be fooled!" Julius insisted, adamantly rejecting Jeff's words. His father was just an ordinary worker, so how could he be related to such a rich woman? Julius and Luckystone's lives were obviously very different, they were polar opposites. Jeff stood up after kneeling for a long time, "That's how it is, Master Julius. Madam Elisa is very ill, and she only has you. So, she wants to make you her successor." Jeff had the important task of convincing Julius to take him home tonight. "You must be making this up! I won't believe it." The man had thought about it, a Luckystone couldn't have a family like his. He had even been banished b
"You're really fast!" praised Julius with satisfaction. He really liked Jeff's neat and clean way of working. If this keeps up, Julius can reach his goal soon. The man was still staring in disbelief at the drawings Jeff had done in just twenty minutes! "We could destroy the Cellen family if this is how you work." Jeff nodded in agreement and couldn't wait to do it under Julius' orders. It would be great to get back at that ignorant family! "Sure Master, it's an easy thing. Give me an order, and I'll do as you ask." Julius was more than happy to hear Jeff's words. Now, he was a little more certain that this man was a servant of a wealthy family! "Master, it's getting late. We'd better get out of here. It's not impossible for the people from the debt collector to call for reinforcements and find us now." Jeff interrupted respectfully. He reminded them of the danger they could be in if they didn't leave immediately. Julius looked at Jeff, "Where are we going? I have no place to stay.
Julius would always remember who they were. They were one of the few friends Bella had ever met. The few times they met, they always said bad things and insulted Julius at will. They even told Julius that he was an annoying sewer rat. Knowing that the atmosphere would not improve if he stayed there, Julius chose to remain ignorant. Julius casually turned around, walking away from the two people staring at him. "Heh, sewer rat! Where are you going? I'm not done talking to you yet!" he snapped with a hand roughly grabbing Julius' back collar. Julius, unprepared, stumbled and almost fell to the asphalt. Unable to hold back, Julius returned the stares of the two people in front of him with equally fierce looks. "Did you look like that, huh? Do you dare me now?" he challenged as he rolled his shirt sleeves even higher. "He won't dare Ron! That stinking rat doesn't have the guts to fight you! He's got no one now!" The woman, Tina, fanned her face with her hands. The woman laughed mocki
"Your mouth is so big, huh?! Did you take the wrong medicine?" Ron teased with widened eyes. He found Julius' remark completely unfounded. Julius smiled wryly, "Isn't that you with the big mouth, Ron? I know what scandal you've been hiding." Julius was never afraid of anything, let alone the power he had now. He casually folded his arms across his chest, staring at Ron's seemingly unaffected face. Ron snorted, the man dismissive of Julius' words. To him, Julius was nothing more than a weak and powerless threat. "Tell me, trickster! Tell me what you know!" challenged Ron in his arrogant manner. Now, Julius looked around. Everyone was paying attention to him. It wouldn't be wrong if he got back at Ron and Tina now! He would humiliate them just like they did to Julius! "You guys are really sneaky, stealing your coworkers' money without any guilt. Your behavior is absolutely disgusting!" said Julius, who now had a straight face. He knew everything that the two people who now looked pa
Ron and Tina looked at each other in confusion. In fact, Tina had to glare to confirm what she was seeing now. The director was bowing to Julius! Clearly, this was out of the ordinary for both of them. "Sir, he's already causing trouble here! Why are you bowing to him?" asked Ron in disbelief. His eyes narrowed sarcastically, wondering what the director was doing. Tina replied that she had to convince this man called Mr. Sam to kick Julius out and disrespect him. "That's right, Sir! If it weren't for this bum, there wouldn't be any chaos in Mr. Sam's elite estate!" "Shut up, you guys don't know anything!" said Sam, who seemed to be holding back a growl. The two of them seemed to him like the troublemakers here. This made for a messy situation for him, he was having some bad luck that he hadn't expected. "But Sir, look at him! If you continue to let him in here, the quality of this elite building will decline and be ruined! He'll only bring bad luck!" Tina didn't want her lies ex
"Damn Julius!" cursed Ron as he kicked the gravel on the side of the road. The passing vehicles' noise and the air's heat made his irritation grow. Remembering Julius' face when he and Tina had been thrown out in disgrace made his hands clench into fists. Anger overcame him with a raging breath. He wanted to punch Julius and stomp him into begging for mercy! "We have to get back at that rat, Ron! I won't take it!" Tina shouted as she stomped through the smoke-filled streets. She waved her hands in front of her face to block out the fumes. When she was annoyed, car horns being honked impatiently annoyed her. Moreover, the sun seemed to be shining overhead. "Yes, we have to get back at him! Damn, every time I think of his lowly face I want to beat that poor guy with both hands!" Ron was still on a roll. Until a call on Ron's cell phone made him stop at the side of the road. The man stared with furrowed brows as the number from his bank popped up. "Hello?" he greeted with a raised
