Chapter 23

Both of them were still silent with bated breath. Julius just nodded in response to the girl's thanks. Now, there was only silence filled by the sound of the rushing river below them.

No one started a conversation because they were still gathering their awareness of what had just happened. Especially the girl, whose face was still pale from almost drowning if not saved by Julius.

When the girl opened her eyes and looked at Julius' hand, she immediately jumped up and grabbed it. Her eyes widened, "You're hurt," she said frantically.

The wound she saw was a scratch from Julius pulling her off the wooden barrier. Julius' skin was scarred and bleeding on several sides.

The girl felt guilty. Julius had helped her and had to get injured like that. Her eyes looked teary, this was all her fault and she had to take responsibility for what Julius had experienced.
