Ms. Page arrived at Prime Enterprises earlier than usual, her heart racing with a mixture of fear and resignation. The morning air was still crisp when she entered the towering structure, but she did not notice. The weight of her decisions and the consequences she knew would follow made every step she took toward her office feel heavier.

Workers who had greeted her with respect a moment earlier avoided making eye contact as she walked down the hallway, their whispers barely audible. Her once-dominant presence had diminished to the level of mere office gossip, and she could feel the change in the air.
