CHAPTER 17

The men had rescued her and dropped her off. She tried asking them to save her husband, but they said no word to her and drove off. They had not dropped her off at her home but at her parents. She then realized the men did not actually save her but released her because Leonid had already signed the divorce papers. Her heart grew heavy as she walked toward their building.

She wondered if her parents were the ones who had done that. There was no one else who would kidnap Leonid, beat him, and ask him to sign divorce papers. She reached the front door and, pushing it open, entered. The house was quiet; there was no one at home. Just as she was about to go upstairs to look for them, a car horn sounded outside, and her mother's voice filled the atmosphere.

“There’s no way Leonid is going to reject signing the papers,” her mother said.

Her dad chuckled. “Ethan had a nice plan. He made sure Amelia was drunk, and we took her home. When she woke up, the papers were already signed.”
