As Chris looked at the scene, he was almost forced to leave Anna in that state, after all, she got what she deserved for trusting a low-life scum like Carter. But he couldn't, Anna was merely shortsighted and materialistic, he couldn't blame her for being that way, she was after all just finding her place in the big elite world and she was bound to fall prey to the likes of Carter.

"She wanted the drink, I didn't force her," Carter stated in defense, his hands still cupping his nose.

Chris glared at the man and thought of throwing the second punch, but he held back, unwilling to cause any scene that would bring the press and mess with his family's reputation.

"I'd suggest you get the hell out of here while you still can." He sneered.

Carter's nose was still bleeding profusely from the targeted punch as he fled the hotel room, leaving his coat and cell phone behind, hurried and afraid that security would be involved in what he'd done soon.

Christian turned to Anna who was on the bed, her dress ridden up her lap, her face blissfully ignorant of what was no doubt Carter's disgusting plan. As he leaned to her and checked her pulse and breathing, Mr. Potter entered with two security guards. Thankfully, she was still breathing steadily.

"How could you allow a man to take an unconscious woman into a room? Do you have any idea what could have happened here tonight?" Chris asked, pissed off at such a level of carelessness.

"I can assure you she didn't arrive at the hotel unconscious, Sir. She must have passed out shortly after he signed them both in." The taller of the two men replied.

Chris fumed but didn't push it any further. Anneliese was certainly not a drunk but neither was she a lightweight either. If he had to get her unconscious then he was certain he'd slipped something quite strong to knock her out so quickly.

"Take her to the clinic, make sure she gets all the attention she needs," Chris ordered and the guards nodded solemnly and grabbed her, holstering her up and taking her out of the room.

"I can't get back to the party, make sure no one invites me out for any speech, I have to stay here and make sure that she is fine." He said, Mr. Potter nodded and opened the door to leave, just as Chris heard a commotion from the lobby of the hotel.

Heading there, he saw the last two people he wished to see that evening. His in-laws, Martin and Laura Stephen, Anna's parents.

"What are you doing here? I heard Anna is sick, what did you do to her?" Laura accused pointedly and turned to ask a passing nurse where Anna was.

"You better talk or we'll get the police involved, what did you do to our daughter? Where is she? And why have you brought her here?" Martin asked all in one breath while trying to calm her exasperated wife who was pacing the lobby restlessly.

"Anna is fine, she is just a little drunk, she will be okay soon, she's been taken to___"

"Mom? Dad?" Anna asked as she emerged from the hallway of the clinic, her jacket in one hand and another holding her head which was no doubt pounding.

A nurse was right behind her and she shook hands with Martin who offered a handshake and leered at the young nurse.

"Your daughter is fine, she was merely drugged, but don't worry, it was nothing too much for her system, it's been completely neutralized, she's been discharged but she'll have to come for a check-up again tomorrow, just to be sure." The nurse explained and Martin nodded eagerly.

"What are you doing here? Did you follow me here?" Anna asked, her tone scornful and impatient.

"I heard you were in danger and I came to__"

"Please, save it, hero. When was I in danger? Do you think I don't know your scheme? You can't mend what we had, Chris, it's time you moved on and stopped following me around." She started with an angry frown.

Chris sneered, upset that she'd dare call him names for trying to help her. "Don't get ahead of yourself, I was only trying to help." He retorted but Anna snorted, obviously thinking he was lying.

"First, you show up at the party pretending to be who we all know you're not, now, you're here and you're playing hero now? Come on, Chris quit being absurd and move on." She said with a hiss and moved to stand beside her mother who grabbed her hand and glared at Chris.

"Did he molest you?" Martin asked as he looked down at her dress and the jacket in her hand.

"What?!" Chris bellowed, flabbergasted at such utterance.

"We can't put it beneath you, a desperate man is ready to do anything you know," Martin said with a shrug.

"Don't try to act funny with my daughter or you'll regret knowing this family, you better be careful and stay out of our paths." Martin threatened, pointing at him.

Laura arched her brow and looked down at him condescendingly, "You have never been in our class, I wonder what Anna saw in you." She said,

"I don't need Anna anymore, I'm over her. I don't see why I'd have to molest her when we've been married for many years, what's new?" He asked with a sarcastic laugh, making Anneliese frown at such a statement.

"Then what are you doing here? Why are you following me?" She asked firmly, her voice suddenly high.

"Like I said, I just wanted to be sure that you're okay. But you don't appreciate that, I'll be sure to leave you to sort yourself out next time," he said and then murmured to himself, "If there's ever a next time."

"You're right, there certainly won't be any next time. I'll make sure you're removed from everywhere I'm invited to, I don't want your nuisance trailing me about like a bad stench." She said,

Chris looked at her and her family, all three looked at him with scorn, like he was nothing, worry nothing. But he couldn't blame him, they could believe what they wanted.

"I wish you could get arrested right away, that would save us the stress of ever seeing your stupid face again..." Anna began but was cut in as Mr Potter entered the lobby and bowed to Chris.

Anneliese and her parents stared curiously as the old butler addressed Chris respectfully.

"Young master, your attention is required at the party urgently, an announcement will be made."

But Christian didn't want that, he had other plans. "I don't think that announcement should be made tonight." He said beside the willowy young man. "I'm sorry, but it's direct orders." He replied, gesturing to Christian's grandfather, Pete Robinson who sat regally at the left wing on a chair fashioned as a throne. "Do not make any announcements yet, let me speak to him," Chris said as he walked across the room to Pete. "You've been busy tonight for a man who should be reclaiming his place," Pete said, his eyes furrowed at him. "I had things to sort out." He replied and Pete snorted under his breath. "Your ex-wife?" He asked rhetorically and Chris could answer that, obviously Pete had eyes on him the entire night. "I don't think this family needs any cheap scandal, if you're divorced then keep it tha

Hogan Robinson smirked as he saw the flashlights around him, he'd come with his own media team and they were eager to take pictures of the two men facing down, shaking hands with an angry sneer on Christian's face. Christian sighed and turned to hail a taxi just as a limousine parked right before him, the window came down and Potter said, "Sorry I'm late, I had to make sure everything was handled." He said and then got the door for Christian who slid into the backseat and they drove off, glad to be finally away from the drama of the night. ______________________________________________________ Christian woke up quite early, he was not a deep sleeper and he certainly was an early bird. Christian remained calm, he knew a meeting was going to be held soon by his grandfather, Potter had informed him so, he had to have his head cooled and ready to handle whatever questions people would raise. Inhaling deeply, Cheistain gave a good sign and relaxed, deciding to put the strange call out of his mind and focus on the present which was reclaiming the respect of all staff in the company. He'd been away for far too long and had to make sure his respect was intact as a member of the Robinson dynasty. As expected, a knock came at the door and Justin jerked up from studying his features and nodded there. "I'm sure Pa Pete is here to summon the staff and announce to you," Justin said, his tone a little excited. "Sir, the chief director requires your presence at the conference grounds." A messenger said briskly as he entered. "You can go, I'll find my way there, I still remember my way around here." He replied and the man left with a nod. "He is." Christian turned to t

Christian merely smirked at the outrage, many members of the table were rather eager to agree with Hogan. Most believed that indeed he was trying to outsmart them all. Pa Pete raised his fist and a hush fell in the room, many stared at him condescendingly but could not oppose his authority. Hogan, now by the table, right beside Jupiter's seat, had his eyes leveled on Pa Pete, almost challengingly. "You ask if Jupiter knows of his reinstatement into the family? Who do you think would dare make such a call if not Jupiter?" Pete asked rhetorically. "You fail to understand him, we all believe that, all we want to see is prove that indeed we are not being played by his...boy." another member of the board said, all the while Hogan nodded to the discord he'd fueled. "It's rather strange how you all suddenly wish to see the same Jupiter you've regarded as a god, a deity, now you're eager to receive confirmation." Christian laughed heartily and leaned on his armrest, staring at

The husky tone came from the shadows and Christian squinted to adjust to the darkness. The bulb flickered once and went off, casting them both in total blackness. Christian remained firm where he was, his hands doing to the pocket of his suit, his left foot firmly on the ground, and his right on a crate. A shadow emerged from the corners of the room threateningly, hooded in what he assumed to be a black mask, covered with an overcoat. "What is this hide-and-seek game?" Christian asked impatiently as the man stood by the obscured window, nothing but a lump in the dark. "So impatient, calm down, now, you're here and we have all the time." The voice said, strangely too deep and Christian decided that it was modified by a device. "I don't think I have all the time, you said you had answers," Chris said as the shadow moved a little and he could finally make out the frame. It was a widely built human, most likely male, 5"7 feet or more. "Oh but I do, I have all the answers

The Jupiter. It resonated in Christians's minds. The Jupiter was getting involved in the day-to-day running of the company and even though he had been in exile for a long time, he still knew it was strange. He had an insider who provided him information while he was away and this was how he could make informed choices and make his way back into the family again. "Sir, should we get to the office first or would you rather take your morning meeting?" The driver asked as they drove speedily down the highway. "The meeting can wait, I need to meet with Pa Pete." He replied, his eyes still on the road. The driver nodded and made a turn by the It was odd for the Jupiter to offer a deal to Hogan, Hogan was not an important member of the board, he was just an investor like everyone else with a meager share. If anyone was to be offered such deals, it had to be Christian, after all he had the bigger shares in the company and was more qualified to negotiate with foreign investor

The air suddenly grows tense, Christian stops mid-step and turns to Evans who is standing before him, his face sad, his eyes almost pleading. Christian knew what was to come. He could tell from his expression that the secret was beginning to crush him after so many years. But no, this was not the right time to talk about such things, no, he must not let them know he knows and he didn't want to talk about it, no. He had to seek out his answers and not be deterred by anyone, certainly not Evans who seemed a little too concerned about his safety suddenly. "We can talk later, Father, I have an urgent meeting to catch up with if I want to get my hands on that 10%" he replied with a big smile that he hoped wasn't as fake as it felt. Evans looked at him for a few seconds and then nodded, deciding it was best to hold on to the secret a little longer if Christian was still unaware of it. "You're right, I think you should get along, I've sent all you need to know to your email,

Christian could not help smirking even as he got into his car and told the driver he would not be needing him for the rest of the day. It felt good to finally disappoint Pa Pete and his low expectations of him. The whole board had been shocked at the sudden turn of events and Christian had the chance to humiliate Hogan. Pa Pete, always impartial, had announced to the executives that indeed Christian had already signed the deal with the investors while Hogan was still hoping to get his proposal approved, hence, the 10% would be transferred to Chris and not Hogan. Hogan fumed and so did many members of the table but they could not openly oppose that decision, not when the deal and the instructions had been from the Jupiter himself. Hogan did not wait for the meeting to be over, he excused himself, claiming he had a pressing family emergency. Christian calmly accepted the congratulations from others and waited for the close of the meeting before he left, 10% richer and sti

Chris remained calm. She was just in shock and would no doubt be revived with a little air and water. He could only imagine what it felt like to be thrown down after such years in power. "Where have you been, son?" Pa Pete asked and Julius only smiled. He was a spitting image of his twin, Evans Robinson and he didn't look like the years had treated him badly at all. Some of the men on the table who knew that their hands were stained and they'd been working with Sonya to condemn Christian, all looked down in shame because they could face him or Julius. He asked and the man simply looked at them without saying anything. Christian swallowed nervously but quietly followed him until they got to a part of the tunnel where the light became brighter and they could see a glass room in the distance. Right through the glass sat an old man at a desk, Orton. "While I still breathe," Evans said as he entered the glass cave. "I never thought I'd see you after so many years, I could swear you vowed never to see the Robinson family again." Orton looked at them quietly and then offered them both the double-seated couch, asking if they needed a strong Irish coffee. "We'll be needing more than a cup of coffee from you," Evans replied with a serious face. He pulled ou

Right there in the living room, Christian showed the token to Evans and after he stared at it in awe, he said it would take them right to Berlin. They arrived at the small town the next day. Evans was in the front seat and Christian was in the driver's seat. His face was twisted in an ugly frown. "I told you to let Potter drive us, he's more mature on the wheel, we almost had an accident on the way here, I hate to think what will happen as we return," Evans said as he stepped out of the vehicle. "I hate this place, I could almost swear nothing would ever bring me back here," he spat angrily. Evans laughed at him, "Never say never, my son, life can be a rollercoaster sometimes," he said. It was four days after the legendary meeting at the Robinson lobby. Christian hadn't shown up at the company for that long. It made Jupiter happy that one thing she'd hoped for had worked out - Christian was too embarrassed to come back out. That fateful afternoon, Christian was at the Robinson estate after such a long time. If there was ever going to be a time he needed Evans' help, it was then. Arriving at the door, it was Melissa who welcomed him in and he nodded at her mutely and crossed the threshold. "It's been a long time since I last saw you, Christian," Melissa said as she ushered him in. Christian didn't say anything still. He didn't want to talk to her, he was in too sore a mood too. "I know what...how it went last time was not ideal. I know you trusted me with...well, I disappointed you and tried to cause a rift between you and Evans, I'm sorry," she said. Christian again simply nodded. Melissa sighed, she looked remorseful. She was dressed in a sheer green gown and shaw

Christian still wore a smirk on his face as his grandfather, Pa Pete looked warily at the document on the desk."You got the deal?" He asked, his tone disbelieving. Christian did not reply, at least not verbally, he remained standing with a smile on his face. "This is ridiculous!" Sonya yelled, "There is no way this boy could secure a deal with Otec, there is also no way in hell that he knows Orton Berlin," she snapped. Christian dipped his hands into his breast pocket and retrieved the token that Orton had given to him, he did not bother handing it to her but simply slammed it on the table. With shaky wrinkled hands, Sonya picked up the token, she turned pale, her eyes wide in shock. "But how! I have been dying to meet this man all my life, how could you get the Supreme token?" Are you having a change of heart?" She asked and immediately one of the board members said loudly, "He can't do that! The entire board knows about it and we won't allow such cowardice!" The man snapped. "Who said anything about backing out?" Christian asked and the man began to stammer foolishly before sitting down. Jupiter was pleased with the way they all treated Chris, everyone was attacking him. "Will we all let him speak?" Pete snapped, his voice rising above the others. Pete ignored her and looked at Christian who calmly nodded at him, a silent approval to commence the meeting. There was no need to wait, it wouldn't change the outcome of the meeting anyway. Hope is a formidable force, even a single ray can light up the darkest abyss. Christian Robinson could attest to this as he woke up that morning, feeling a lot better than he'd slept. He had a feeling that the world was aligning right where it ought to be and he was at the helm of it all - where he'd always wanted. "Sir, your suit just arrived," his servant bowed as he entered the room. Christian hadn't heard him knock but he was sure he had, he'd no doubt been too lost in thought to hear. "Thank you, I'll be right out." He replied and the man nodded as he left. He looked again at the mirror and smirked, his crisp white shirt was tucked beautifully into his black trousers, and his shoe just a little shiny. He'd called back his servants the previous evening just as he'd gotten that token from Berlin. He had a feeling his life was about to change for good, he had a gut feeling. Christian left the room and took the suit from the servant as he got to his car - he'd decided he was dri

The exit of the tunnel led to a small boutique that was on the outskirts of town, close to where the train station was. As he climbed up to the stairwell and pushed the door open, he noticed that no one seemed interested in him even though they'd seen him crawl out of the ground. The receptionist at the desk simply looked at him blankly as he walked out the door and Christian figured that the establishment belonged to Orton, a way of making the tunnel he'd made. It was a brilliant idea, there was no way someone could guess that there was an entire world down there, an entire company. Chris could not get to his car that morning, he'd barely been able to get home in time for a change of outfit before he headed down to Otec - again. This was his second time parked outside the gigantic building and he didn't fail to marvel at the beauty of it all. He sighed as he pulled out the proposal from his dashboard and clutched the token that Orton had given him firmly in his grip. Coming down
