The midmorning air was cold, and a promise of winter loomed icily as Richard stepped into the Robinson estate. It was ill-managed, not as beautiful as he remembered, but then, he hadn't expected Evans to take extra care of what was not his.

Evans' new wife, Melissa met him on the porch with open arms and he had no choice but to offer her an embrace. "You smell like a man, I can't say the same about your father," she breathed, in a feathery whisper.

Chris disentangled from her embrace and frowned at her comment, he had to be careful with the strange woman or she would be a problem in the future.

"I know you want me, you just are afraid that I'm your father's, but don't be, I know Julius loves to share." She whispered with a pout and ran her fingers down his chest. Midway, Chris grabbed her and sneered. "I will say this again, you have no idea the family you're messing with, my father has dumped women like you in a twinkle of an eye, do not overestimate your place in his life, Meliss

The past came like an ugly smoke from an old flame and it threatened to burn everything in its path. Christian sat on the edge of his hotel room bed. He could still not come to terms with the fact that Luciana was back in his life and with a baby. A baby, a baby he could remember having with her. "Master, the men are here," Potter said with a low bow as he entered the hotel room. Christian could not remember any knock but he knew Potter would not just barge in on him, he'd no doubt been too caught up in his thoughts to hear anything. "Welcome, gentlemen." He said the neatly dressed men got in and shut the door.Christian knew he had to act fast, it was only a matter of time before the press had air of the news and everyone began to believe it. Already, two members of the executive table had called him and so had other partners. Rumor and scandal in the Robinson family could never be hidden, everyone had their ears to the ground. "I need you to do a thorough investigation on this

Evans frowned at the casual way that Chris regarded Luciana and the child. He was yet to make any remark on the child but he showered him with gifts and gave Luciana a platinum card to spend to her heart's content. "You can not treat your blood like he doesn't exist, that is insulting not only to me but the entire Robinson family." Evans scolded. Christian remained quiet on the couch and said nothing. Pete, Melissa, Hogan, and some members of the family who were not on the executive board were gathered in the living room of the family house as Luciana planned to make an appearance with Nicholas. Everyone seemed eager to meet the new member of the Robinson family and the next-in-line heir of the Robinson legacy. "This can not be swept under the rug, Chris, we must do right by her," Pete said authoritatively and Chris simply stared at the man with a blank expression. Hogan wore a smirk on his face as he sat, happy to witness the humiliation that Chris would face in front of the whol

When the TV station aired the interview, Pa Pete could not tell them to take it down because it was a live show and everyone was watching all over the world. The family was distraught about the turn of events and while some threatened to sue Lucy for such frame-ups and false claims, others still believed that Chris might have made it all up just to save face and send Lucy away. But despite what the rumor mill has in store, Chris was out of the mess just in the nick of time. He compensated the investigators heavily and sure enough the family verified from them that Lucy had Nicholas from another man. Seated at the fancy restaurant, Christian looked at his time again, he was running late for the announcement at the office but he had to meet with Xavier, the CEO of the goldmine first. He was tired of being toyed with by Dr. Pedro. Just as he thought of giving Xavier a call to remind him of their appointment, Potter called again, telling him that the meeting was to kick off in half an

Documents in his suitcase and hands still trembling, George turned to Chris. "Do we have a gentlemanly deal that Mr. Xavier must never know about my dealing with Hogan?" George asked shamelessly. Chris smirked at him and rose, offering him a handshake. "I do not owe you any agreement, Mr. George, I have just made a deal with the CEO himself, you do not matter." He said and walked away. " You gave me your word that you would not say a thing if I made that phone call for you." George reminded him loudly. Thankfully, Chris had reserved the entire restaurant for the night, he did not want any crowd and he wanted to impress Mr Xavier. "I am not a man that breaks his own words, George, I have no business telling Xavier about your corrupt practices." He replied and George sighed in relief. "But...it isn't me you should be bothered about, Hogan does not take disappointments kindly." He advised and walked out of the room. In the elevator, he looked at his watch again, his phone beeped an

The conference hall had been abandoned because of the sudden electrical faults in one of the many smaller conference rooms in the office. Pete was not pleased with the event and fired two staff. Many members of the board were sweating profusely in the stifling room with no air-conditioning system and poor ventilation. They sat, irritable and impatient. "When will our dear heir bless us with his presence?" A man asked sarcastically, a deep frown on his face. Pete huffed angrily and rose, "We will no longer wait for that insolent child, we will begin this meeting without him." He said and opened the constitution of the board, an age-long tradition that signified the commencement of the meeting. "About time." Hogan agreed as he walked into the room, his shirt wet with patches of sweat, a file in hand. Many members of the board murmured and whispered among themselves as he took his seat among them. "As some of you might already know, Hogan has been called back to continue his work a

Chris walked by Hogan at the elevator on his way out of the Robinson Company building. He had a sneer on his face and he seemed like he had a million things to say, but he said none because there were people following Chris and congratulating him on his win. “Congratulations." Hogan spat, sounding quite displeased despite his kind words. "Thank you, Hogan, we must always remember that all we do is for the good of the family, we must never lose sight of that," Chris said with a smirk and Hogan nodded, offering him a firm handshake that almost crushed his knuckles but Chris didn't flinch.Potter looked at Chris with a worried frown as he stepped into the car and leaned back. “You really need your rest, sir. You are in no shape to go about the stress of the company." Pitter advised. " I had to seal that deal. Thank you for doing what you could, Potter, you were most helpful, I will not forget this gesture in a hurry." Chris said and Potter nodded. "I live to serve you, master." He

It was just a few hours before midnight when Chris arrived at the office, having insisted that he wanted the meeting held despite his ill health. Pete, ever a man of his word, did not have a choice but to summon all members of the table and tell them about the emergency meeting.Hogan and a few others arrived grudgingly but they knew none could defy the rules of the table especially when the director called an urgent summon. For the first time in a long while, Christian was the first to be at the table and others joined him past midnight. Pa Pete rose and began the meeting the conventional way and then gave Chris the opportunity to speak. "I, first of all, want to thank each and every one of us for honoring these meetings on such short notice." He said and someone from the table scoffed. "We are hoping this is for a good reason.". A man said with a mean face. " Or perhaps you aren't done bragging over your success with the Xavier goldmine." Hogan snapped angrily. " That's eno

Chris stepped out into the cold night air just as he heard the angry footsteps of his grandfather trail him. "Christian!" He called out and Chris turned, his eyes a little bored, knowing all too well what he was going to say. "What insolence! You made me summon the board for this utter madness?!" Pete thundered angrily. "Is it? If this is as stupid as you say it is then why do you not know the answers?" He asked boldly. "You have no idea what you are asking, boy, you have no idea what the Jupiter is and what this madness you've just done means." Pete retorted. Chris smiled and looked at his grandfather, his features were calm, a little too calm and it annoyed Pete even more. "You have brought discord to the table and you are here with a serene look on your face like it is nothing? Have you no respect for this family?" Pete asked. "And has the Jupiter no respect for us?!" Chris asked loudly, his arms widely spread. "I have been brutally wounded, I almost lost my life just to p

Sonya couldn't believe her eyes, she gasped and that was how she fell into the orbit who was right behind her. One of them caught her swiftly and everyone quickly called for the company doctor. Chris remained calm. She was just in shock and would no doubt be revived with a little air and water. He could only imagine what it felt like to be thrown down after such years in power. "Where have you been, son?" Pa Pete asked and Julius only smiled. He was a spitting image of his twin, Evans Robinson and he didn't look like the years had treated him badly at all. Some of the men on the table who knew that their hands were stained and they'd been working with Sonya to condemn Christian, all looked down in shame because they could face him or Julius. "Now that you're back, what will be the fate of the executive board?" One of them mustered the courage to ask. But that wasn't really what he meant and everyone could tell. He was trying to find out what Julius would do to them that had gotten

Evans was a little shaky as the man took them to the inner recess of the tunnel and it became dark. Christian could still remember the way to Orton and he certainly could tell that it wasn't the same route they were being taken. "What's going on? Aren't we meeting with Orton anymore?" He asked and the man simply looked at them without saying anything. Christian swallowed nervously but quietly followed him until they got to a part of the tunnel where the light became brighter and they could see a glass room in the distance. Right through the glass sat an old man at a desk, Orton. "While I still breathe," Evans said as he entered the glass cave. "I never thought I'd see you after so many years, I could swear you vowed never to see the Robinson family again." Orton looked at them quietly and then offered them both the double-seated couch, asking if they needed a strong Irish coffee. "We'll be needing more than a cup of coffee from you," Evans replied with a serious face. He pulled ou

Evans had a plan and that plan was foolproof - or so they both believed. Right there in the living room, Christian showed the token to Evans and after he stared at it in awe, he said it would take them right to Berlin. They arrived at the small town the next day. Evans was in the front seat and Christian was in the driver's seat. His face was twisted in an ugly frown. "I told you to let Potter drive us, he's more mature on the wheel, we almost had an accident on the way here, I hate to think what will happen as we return," Evans said as he stepped out of the vehicle. "I hate this place, I could almost swear nothing would ever bring me back here," he spat angrily. Evans laughed at him, "Never say never, my son, life can be a rollercoaster sometimes," he said. Christian wiped at his head, a bead of perspiration had formed from the warm air. He pulled off his sunglasses and stared at the small pub that still stood in the distance. Karen was still in business and that only meant one t

It was four days after the legendary meeting at the Robinson lobby. Christian hadn't shown up at the company for that long. It made Jupiter happy that one thing she'd hoped for had worked out - Christian was too embarrassed to come back out. That fateful afternoon, Christian was at the Robinson estate after such a long time. If there was ever going to be a time he needed Evans' help, it was then. Arriving at the door, it was Melissa who welcomed him in and he nodded at her mutely and crossed the threshold. "It's been a long time since I last saw you, Christian," Melissa said as she ushered him in. Christian didn't say anything still. He didn't want to talk to her, he was in too sore a mood too. "I know what...how it went last time was not ideal. I know you trusted me with...well, I disappointed you and tried to cause a rift between you and Evans, I'm sorry," she said. Christian again simply nodded. Melissa sighed, she looked remorseful. She was dressed in a sheer green gown and shaw

Sonya did not look so confident anymore, her weak bones trembled and she quickly grabbed onto the desk for support. Christian still wore a smirk on his face as his grandfather, Pa Pete looked warily at the document on the desk."You got the deal?" He asked, his tone disbelieving. Christian did not reply, at least not verbally, he remained standing with a smile on his face. "This is ridiculous!" Sonya yelled, "There is no way this boy could secure a deal with Otec, there is also no way in hell that he knows Orton Berlin," she snapped. Christian dipped his hands into his breast pocket and retrieved the token that Orton had given to him, he did not bother handing it to her but simply slammed it on the table. With shaky wrinkled hands, Sonya picked up the token, she turned pale, her eyes wide in shock. "But how! I have been dying to meet this man all my life, how could you get the Supreme token?" Sonya asked, still in disbelief. "You are not the only one that can weasel your way into p

Sonya took the flowers and had half the mind to toss it in his face but she had to reign in her temper. She instead snatched it up aggressively and tossed it at one of the Orbits who held it like it burned. "What do you have to say concerning the challenge you called, Christian? Are you having a change of heart?" She asked and immediately one of the board members said loudly, "He can't do that! The entire board knows about it and we won't allow such cowardice!" The man snapped. "Who said anything about backing out?" Christian asked and the man began to stammer foolishly before sitting down. Jupiter was pleased with the way they all treated Chris, everyone was attacking him. "Will we all let him speak?" Pete snapped, his voice rising above the others. Christian rose and nodded at the roses he'd just gifted Sonya, "I picked those out myself, it's a shame you won't even appreciate it," he said and Sonya rolled her eyes, "I didn't recall asking you for any flowers, Chris, last I checke

Pa Pete was hesitant to begin the proceedings of the meeting and everyone on the table noticed, especially Chris who was just right beside him.Sonya must have noticed too because she smiled and said mockingly, "Are your feet getting heavier for you, Pa Pete? Perhaps it's not just your grandson that needs replacing, you too might be getting a little too old for that seat." Pete ignored her and looked at Christian who calmly nodded at him, a silent approval to commence the meeting. There was no need to wait, it wouldn't change the outcome of the meeting anyway. The orbits were right behind Jupiter, all six of them stood like rods, stuff, unyielding, with their hands crossed. Pete looked at them scornfully and then cleared his throat a little too loud. "Is there something you have to say? We don't have all day, Pete." Sonya said, her lips still bearing the same smile she'd exited the vehicle with that morning. "I think we all know what I'm about to say," Pete said, looking at member

Hope is a formidable force, even a single ray can light up the darkest abyss. Christian Robinson could attest to this as he woke up that morning, feeling a lot better than he'd slept. He had a feeling that the world was aligning right where it ought to be and he was at the helm of it all - where he'd always wanted. "Sir, your suit just arrived," his servant bowed as he entered the room. Christian hadn't heard him knock but he was sure he had, he'd no doubt been too lost in thought to hear. "Thank you, I'll be right out." He replied and the man nodded as he left. He looked again at the mirror and smirked, his crisp white shirt was tucked beautifully into his black trousers, and his shoe just a little shiny. He'd called back his servants the previous evening just as he'd gotten that token from Berlin. He had a feeling his life was about to change for good, he had a gut feeling. Christian left the room and took the suit from the servant as he got to his car - he'd decided he was dri

The exit of the tunnel led to a small boutique that was on the outskirts of town, close to where the train station was. As he climbed up to the stairwell and pushed the door open, he noticed that no one seemed interested in him even though they'd seen him crawl out of the ground. The receptionist at the desk simply looked at him blankly as he walked out the door and Christian figured that the establishment belonged to Orton, a way of making the tunnel he'd made. It was a brilliant idea, there was no way someone could guess that there was an entire world down there, an entire company. Chris could not get to his car that morning, he'd barely been able to get home in time for a change of outfit before he headed down to Otec - again. This was his second time parked outside the gigantic building and he didn't fail to marvel at the beauty of it all. He sighed as he pulled out the proposal from his dashboard and clutched the token that Orton had given him firmly in his grip. Coming down
