As the War of Unity came to a close, the Attendants made by Novak's power continued to live and thrive in Nexus. They took care of the people there and declared open loyalty to Iris.

She could not transfer their power to herself, unfortunately, but...

Since they were Attendants, they would not perish if Novak ceased to exist. Instead, they would just resume aging as normal when their Aspects faded. Iris could make them hers at that point.

They were carefully monitored for signs of this.

Iris, unfortunately, never learned what became of Novak. She was a goddess residing in Excelsis, whereas Novak was a god from Avalon.

She didn't trouble herself with it though.

Isabella and I began a new life as 'Special Forces' Enforcers.

It meant that we would be constantly traveling.

Over time, Nexus was built up into a much more respectable place to live. People were given proper treatment and food, as well as clothing and shelter. No longer would they be forced to live like rats and slaves.

"Isabella..." I said."I know. It's here, isn't it?" She said worriedly.I simply nodded.A moment later, I felt Iris talking to us with telepathy."Mizik, Isabella! What's going on? I just felt an incredibly strong presence enter Ignitus!" Iris said."The feeling of impending doom... We felt it. It's something that comes over us when the Black Ooze is nearby. Iris, I'm afraid to say that this might be an emergency of the worst kind," I said.Iris was silent for a moment."I'm going to have Leiso send a few spy planes to the region I felt it in. Then we're calling a meeting of the Enforcers. It's time to tell everyone," Iris said."Teleport us when ready, Lady Iris," Isabella said.We waited for about an hour and got changed out of our bathing suits. Finally, we were teleported to the meeting room in Torantis.Isabella made a quick call to Emily and told her that we were called away on urgent business. She understood.Although I shuddered to think of what horrors might soon befall our

After confirming that the Black Ooze was in the area, the three of us went to the ground and stood in silence amidst the Ooze.I could feel it shifting and crawling along the ground... It felt like it had also gone underground."By the Creator...what is this horrible substance? It smells awful..." Leiso said."The Black Ooze. An existential threat to both Ignitus and the rest of creation. Let's make this quick," I said.I pulled out Vengeance and...It automatically activated sword enchant. The golden threads connected themselves to the shotguns I had currently changed them into.Isabella's shield also glowed brightly with the same golden threads. As we stood there, I heard a voice speak to me with telepathy. It sounded distorted, so I could barely understand it. But it felt like multiple people were talking to me."He's here. The bastard is here! DIE DIE DIE!!!""YOU PILE OF SHIT! ABOMINABLE CHOSEN OF THE CREATOR!""The...Ch-chosen Hero... Ahh...I love you so much!!!""At last, I've

Iris stood in the lab with a grim expression on her face."That can't be good..." I said. She shook her head."The divine realm Excelsis has given me an answer... They will not be sending help to deal with the crisis because our world isn't the only one under attack right now..." Iris said.I couldn't deny that the reason made sense...but I still didn't like it. "So unsurprisingly, they're no help at all?" I said.I might have been a bit biased because of the Oracle, but I didn't care."Pretty much, yeah. I might try to enlist help from some of my friends... Hopefully they can come here..." Iris said.Carlos looked over at Iris quizzically."Lady Iris...forgive me, but...you have friends on Excelsis? I thought you said you didn't get along with anyone over there."Iris shot him a quick glare and closed her eyes for a moment."I can't stand the war god. He's always making fun of my chest and saying I look like a boy... I am not a boy, I'm a woman! The council hates me because I tend t

I had touched down just outside of the city.Currently, it was late at nightI was alone on the ground with my support troops still in the air, far off. I told them to stay away in case they were noticed and they obeyed. At the same time, they began to evacuate the surviving Nexian soldiers and any civilians that made it out.I turned on my communications watch and found only static... No screams, no words...nothing.The city ahead of me was still burning, but I couldn't see any people. I cloaked myself in invisibility, then moved quickly into the area and made sure to hide among the debris.I might've been invisible, but I didn't trust the Ooze.Along the streets, I could see the corpses of slain people being absorbed into the Ooze.A figure was standing by and watching the ordeal. He wore a black and purple robe with pieces of dark armor attached to it. He had a hood up to cover his face as well. At his side, I saw a katana in its sheath. He seemed to be just standing there, current

"Identify..." the woman said again.I was convinced that my cover was blown."Who are you?" I asked."..."No response. She slowly held out her hand and I saw several shadows appear in mid air around her. They opened to reveal eyes staring at me.My mind was immediately taken back to the night before we met the shadow dragon. I was paralyzed by fear for a moment...I instinctively dodged to the side as they shot at me and exploded when they hit the ground and wall. When I looked back, it wasn't like the normal type of explosion I was used to...It was almost silent. There was a sound of things being torn apart in an instant and then...nothing.When I saw the wreckge, it was like the landscape itself had been altered. As if the ground and everything the attacks touched had been simply erased instead of blown apart.What...is this thing...?"What are you!?" I said aloud to her."..."She readied another volley of shadowy eyes and I decided to fire a few divine javelins at her.She didn'

Now would be a good time to leave...I cloaked myself and started retreating from the two of them...Just then, Axiom raised his sword and it became a scepter. My invisibility was nullified and I gritted my teeth in anger. I glanced over to Kyriel and she seemed to be reaching out to me...almost in desperation. And yet...Soon it seemed like I'd belong to her anyway...I absolutely could not let that happen.Tyras flashed over to me and I struggled to keep up with the incredible speed and ferocity of his attacks.Every impact from his sword was followed up by several more impacts to my body from the phase blades. His speed was absolutely insane.I literally couldn't keep up with him anymore even with The Warlord. What the hell did the Source just do to Ignitus!?At the same time, Axiom was firing explosive spells at me that seemed to cause the areas hit to decay.I had to make damn sure not to be in any of those areas while also fighting Tyras. It wasn't easy, but I managed to conju

I spent the next few minutes explaining everything to the other Enforcers as well as Johann and Iris. They were less than happy to hear the report."Why is this Kyriel woman after you!?" Isabella said."I have no idea. The others said something about her not being allowed to talk to or fight me because she was obsessed... She seemed harmless when we were alone," I said."She didn't touch you, did she?" Isabella said."Not once. She did get pretty close to me a few times, though. Actually, she helped me get through the city..." "Well, she tried pretty hard to kill me, so I think it's safe to say she's a threat to everyone except Mizik," Johann said."Good point," I said."These Generals are holding magic swords from Avernia, then?" Leiso said.I nodded."They've been reforged somehow and are extremely dangerous. Also, there's the problem with what the Source did to our world..." I said."Something in the ground feels very wrong right now... Like a darkness has taken root in our world.

It never ceased to amaze me how quickly Leiso could organize her troops.Currently, the eight of us were aboard one of the experimental airships that the military had been working on.It was a large craft capable of moving at high speeds. A flying fortress. It wasn't as large as The Revenant, but it was still a powerful ship.Currently, we were surrounded by many smaller aircraft and fighter jets.Leiso also took a sort of...last resort precaution...She had contact with the military troops in Nexus and they were technically her subordinates. They gave her the launch and detonation codes for the stored nuclear arms in Nexus. Leiso already had the launch codes for Arcadia.Even if nuclear arms might not have been the most efficient solution, it would slow them down.Currently, the forces in Nexus were focusing more on evacuating people and pulling all military personnel out of the area as per Leiso's orders. The Arcadian forces had already been deployed to push back the monsters from t

The Oracle was quite literally dragged to the Cursebreaker. She had gone completely insane after being killed, tortured, and reset ten thousand times."I have successfully discovered the source of my curse," Vakra said."Is it her?" I said as I looked at the Oracle. She wouldn't move anymore."No. Her power is part of it, but she isn't the one who cursed me. I'm guessing that it was a higher power. But who could be higher than the Oracle? The Creator, of course.""So you were cursed by the architect of all of creation? That makes sense. Why would he want you running wild and defying reality like that?""Ugh...it pains me to admit it, but you are correct, Mizik... My abilities made a mockery of his creation and I was likely cursed as a result. Meaning that I can never erase this curse.""So sad to hear. But that's also a good thing for me. I don't think I would trust you if I couldn't contain you," I said."Right...and you'd be correct to assume such a thing. But I suppose I should get

I was led to a large staging area where numerous gods of the realm had gathered. Isabella followed and I instructed Stella to stay back. The three of us, that being the Albatross twins and myself, were the ones most hurt by the Oracle's actions.Today...she would suffer in front of her people. And they would bear witness to the monster she created out of her own stubbornness and stupidity. We currently stood backstage. We were waiting for the Artificer to give the signal. And that's when I heard him speak."Greetings, people of Excelsis. As you well know already, I am the Artificer. The Guardian of Dominus. Today, you have all gathered here without knowing why...and soon you will find out. Good citizens of the realm, some of you are still haunted by the things you saw before the reset was ended. Most of you have no clear idea as to why Excelsis was violently razed to the ground by the man who calls himself: Destroyer. Well...that is the folly of your former leader. The Oracle is the o

Finally, preparations were complete and the festival began.Currently the three...or four of us? Were walking through the city streets and looking at the different attractions. That is to say, the Albatross twins and Stella.I allowed the others off of the ship so that they could enjoy themselves for a bit. The Artificer assured us that the area was secure. He was sure that the Oracle's Faithful had completely abandoned Excelsis. On every corner, we saw a squad of six drones. Additionally, other groups could be seen flying around above.Still, despite all of this...Isabella remained ever vigilant. Always clinging to my arm and staying right next to me. Despite the Artificer's reassurance, she continued to protect me.Stella followed behind with a content smile on her face. After a short while of looking at the different attractions, I found Iris along with Carlos and Leiso.Carlos looked a bit bored while Leiso seemed out of place.Iris was playing a game at a stall featuring several

  • Chapter 253: Missing Faithful

A few days later, things were finally beginning to look different in Excelsis.I could see flying metal constructs buzzing around in the air on insect-like wings, surveying the area. At the same time, many of the people of Excelsis were setting up decorations for a festival.Hilariously, they wouldn't know what they were celebrating until the day arrived. And as I sat on a bench nearby, Isabella sat happily next to me, clinging to my arm.Stella stood at my side surveying the area. There would have been other troops under her, but I chose not to bring them. The soldiers were specifically for the defense of the ship itself."Hmm..." "Is something wrong, Master?" Isabella said."You're having way too much fun calling me that, aren't you?" I said."Ehehe...guilty. I like seeing your reaction. But if I'm going to be a slave, I should play the part, yes?"I suppose so..." I said."I, for one, believe it to be perfectly natural to refer to his Majesty as Master," Stella said."Hm...right..

  • Chapter 252: Heart Resonance

As we walked back to the Cursebreaker, I could see Isabella constantly surveying the surrounding area for potential threats. However, many of the gods walking the streets recognized me as the one who razed Excelsis to the ground. The one who brought death and destruction to their realm. The result, was that they were absolutely terrified of me and made no attempts to approach. After all, many of them had actually been killed as a result of my actions. All the while I secretly remained on the lookout for a potential candidate. One goddess from this realm would join us on our ship. They would become mine forever and dedicate their existence to serving me and stopping the Corruption. But unfortunately, none of these would do. They were weak. I decided to ignore them and focus on something else.I had other plans, currently. I would be speaking to Iris and everyone about what she had to show them. They were valuable crew members, so I wanted to see what she had planned.Once we reached t

  • Chapter 251: Big Plans

After a month-long journey back to Excelsis...we finally returned.I couldn't believe how long it took to get back.We didn't have access to the divine transit, and as a result, it took much longer to get there.Of course, that gave me an idea. I wondered if I could potentially have a personal god or goddess to join our crew. Then I stopped and though about it more...Definitely a goddess. While more pleasing to look at, I could bring her even closer to me. And if she's completely under my control, she'll follow every order willingly. Best of all, someone like that is highly unlikely to betray me. I wouldn't have to enact vengeance upon her and remain on good terms...I almost smiled. That would be my next goal...find a goddess to join our crew to have permanent access to the divine transit. And maybe...Make new Enforcers...?It was too amazing. Our combat force would grow significantly from such a thing. We would be even stronger than before!I made a mental note to also have Iris t

While waiting on the final shipment of heart stones, I stood outside the Cursebreaker with Cassandra. We were also waiting on...the body for Virtus. The AI for our ship was a shy girl that had trouble talking to people. Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about computer programming to change her behavior. And Vakra refused even under the threat of death. So...we were stuck with her...A hour passed and Cassandra affectionately held onto my arm while humming."Having fun...?" I asked."Of course! I get to be with my darling Mizik!" Cassandra said happily. Then I looked forward and saw an eye staring at me in mid air a few feet away."Oh...damn it all..." I mumbled. It opened wider and Valthiem stood quietly with her mask on."Valthiem!? What are you doing here!?" Cassandra said as she readied herself."..."Then I felt that suffocating impending doom I had grown quite used to...Difar rose out of Valthiem's shadow and glared at me."Dammit...I had a speech prepared and everything. She smiled joyfully."I'm so glad that everything is back! Even if that horrible curse is still upon you, it means I have the pleasure of serving my beloved Master! This is a joyous day for me!" Stella exclaimed. Before I could respond, I heard the voice of Faith again.[This woman is filled with a great adoration for you! She also holds amazing power!
