Isabella looked at me with eyes that seemed to say she was in horrible pain.

"Mi...zik..." She whispered.

I looked at her sadly.

"What...happened?" I asked.

"You went...crazy... Used the heart stone... So I did too..." She said.

Then she pulled out a black katana still in it's sheath.

"I killed...Tyranus..."

I felt proud of her, but I was also very worried...

"Did we kill Cain?" I asked.

She shook her head sadly.

"He got away... We're not going to die...are we?" She said.

"I don't know..."

Isabella slowly got up and hugged me.

Doing so seemed to cause her quite a bit of pain and eventually, we managed to stand up. We leaned on each other as we made our way to the door and it opened in front of us.

Rastair stood in the doorway and looked down at us.

"You two are quite the sight... But thank the gods that you're alive. You were out for four days after that crazy battle..." Rastair said.

"Four days...? I can't even remember the fight to begin with..." I said.

"Jallah said you went compl

"VAKRA!!! IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!" Rastair shouted gleefully as she approached him completely unarmed."What do you want!? WHY ARE YOU BREACHING YOUR AGREEMENT!? DID I NOT MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!?" Vakra roared."I just couldn't get enough of that wonderful body of yours. I came back for more. That a problem? I figured bringing the real Leviathan would get your attention a bit faster. Was I wrong?" Rastair said."I...what? Is that it!? YOU BOTHERED ME FOR SOMETHING THAT TRIVIAL!?" Vakra shouted angrily.Rastair smiled at him.Since the other members of the crew were around, she did her best to maintain her composure."Nah, not just that. See, I didn't have time to go back to Ripper Isle. This is kind of urgent. We have a bit of a situation here. Care to let us come ashore?" Rastair said as she came closer to Vakra."Hold it. What sort of situation?" Vakra said."Like, my companions here just got their hands on the legendary heart stones and some horrifying evil just showed up in o

I was very relieved to discover that the Mad Admiral wasn't an evil individual. Vakra was a rude and very blunt man, but he wasn't really that bad.Although I couldn't figure out why someone like him seemed so attached to this country...For starters, he had a demeanor of someone that didn't care about his subordinates. A mad scientist that only cared about the data and results he could glean from a person or an event. As far as I could tell, such a man shouldn't be commanding soldiers or running a ship...This type of person was better suited to live in a laboratory and rarely see the light of day.Yet...Vakra was highly respected by his peers and treated almost like a King. But aside from his 'comments' about Leiso, Rune, and Isabella...I didn't find him to be all that bad.And this was after a couple of days living in his laboratory. It seemed like Vakra had very little time to spend with women. Although, he very much enjoyed their company. And after I asked him about it, he gav

We walked slowly and quietly towards the two gigantic thrones. One of them sat empty while the other had a young elven child in it.He had dark green eyes and short purple hair with pointed ears.He wore a golden crown on his head adorned with rubies and silver ornaments. Additionally, his clothing wasn't so different from ours, except it was far more intricate and beautiful. This kid was definitely not old enough to rule an Empire.Beside his throne, was a very large and imposing man.He was...grossly overweight. Not obese, but I could tell this man lived very luxuriously. He had on a similar robe to us.Vakra had mentioned that these robes were decreed as the appropriate attire for being in the Emperor's presence. For everyone except Vakra, of course. He was an exception to the rule due to being a skeleton half of the time.Vakra also mentioned that it was a rather...childish order...Regardless, the large man had a scruffy beard and a devious look on his face.I couldn't see the re

After our talks with the Emperor and his disgusting advisor, we made our way back to Vakra's lab...Isabella hugged me and sighed."I'm so angry!! That man wants to do horrible things to me, Mizik..." Isabella said."I know, but he won't succeed. Once Vakra finishes helping us, they won't be able to stand against our might.""I hope so..." Truthfully, I could understand if she was skeptical.Every time we had gained significant power, something always arrived to show us how weak we truly were...Gaining legendary swords and level 150 was met with the shadow dragon... Who traumatized us and broke our spirit.Becoming Enforcers was met by Difar himself. The man who utterly decimated us and even managed to defeat two gods in battle at the same time.Would this time be different? If not...everything would have to be reset again. As we talked, Vakra entered the room. He was in his human form and currently not wearing his mask."Now you can see the problem..." He said."That the Emperor is

For the next three days, I tinkered with the heart stones in our chests using my Archmage Aspect.Seriously, the Archmage was probably my favorite of the two...Not only did it have basically limitless practical use, but it was also very fun to use. I still planned to modify the output of the stones more in the future, but for now, I would simply have to be patient.Carlos had been working closely with Vakra and Leiso to perfect the device. Although he believed further tinkering would be necessary after implementation. This was due to subtle differences between the energy signatures of the legendary stones, themselves, as well as what I have personally done to the ones in our chest. That is, transferring our souls to them.Vakra was impressed with Carlos' thinking and already considered him a valuable colleague.Meanwhile, Rune and Jallah were standing guard outside of the lab to prevent interference from anyone. Directly under the Supreme Admiral's orders. While all of this was goin

The very next day, we were made to stand before the Emperor again.Jarbold intended to make good on his threats by using the Emperor as a weapon."Hmm...Jarbold says you two were mean to him yesterday. That's not very nice of you. Even after he was so kind. You should apologize right now," Emperor Alwen said.Suddenly, Cassandra took over and smiled at the Emperor."Your Advisor is the filthiest pile of maggots I have ever seen. He tried to hurt my darling Mizik and that is unforgivable. Although, I suppose you wouldn't understand what he's really like, would you? You are a naive little bastard child," Cassandra said with extreme contempt.I wasn't worried about her speech at all.I knew by the haze in the room that she had cast an illusion. Whatever the illusion said, made the Emperor smile.Jarbold, however, heard what really happened."HOW DARE YOU!!! YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO HIS MAJESTY LIKE THAT!!! EMPEROR ALWEN, I DEMAN THEIR HEADS!!!" Jarbold said. The Emperor flinched at his shou

A few days later, Vakra wanted to do a test on our powers. Sadly, the Emperor had decided that effective immediately, Isabella was to report to him and Jarbold...Currently, I stood outside in a field that was empty all around for miles. Instead of my old clothes and regulation military attire, I was wearing a combat suit made by Elysium. It was navy-blue with black armored plates. Leiso had a hand in making the metal for this particular suit.It displayed the heart device on my chest and emitted a soft glow. "Vakra...if that little shit continues to try and keep Isabella away from me..." "I know, I know. Every day I find myself less likely to stop you... The world is in grave danger and all he cares about is looking at the pretty girl. He is far too naive..." Vakra said."I'm personally against killing children, but I've done it before. Besides, Cassandra can make someone else kill him. They'll take the fall," I said."I might take you up on that offer. Although there are no other

While speaking with Vakra about what I would be doing in Lokan, I mentioned the situation at port Sagral. He just laughed and said it would take a lot more than a false claim to start a war with Elysium.Because even if another country attacked, Elysium wouldn't go to war unless they wanted to. They would just destroy the attacking force and be done with it.I even learned from him that Elysium wasn't interested in using the legendary heart stones to power their machines and technology. They had incredible power, but were highly unstable. He planned to give the Heart of the Deep back to us once he had finished running tests on it.Vakra also told me something about their plans.Elysium wouldn't actually do Lokan the favor of declaring war on them to let them know of a coming attack. They planned to just show up with a few ships and start attacking. Lokan was apparently a country infested with criminals and degenerates. Slavery, prostitution, sex trafficking, violence, and the like.

The Oracle was quite literally dragged to the Cursebreaker. She had gone completely insane after being killed, tortured, and reset ten thousand times."I have successfully discovered the source of my curse," Vakra said."Is it her?" I said as I looked at the Oracle. She wouldn't move anymore."No. Her power is part of it, but she isn't the one who cursed me. I'm guessing that it was a higher power. But who could be higher than the Oracle? The Creator, of course.""So you were cursed by the architect of all of creation? That makes sense. Why would he want you running wild and defying reality like that?""Ugh...it pains me to admit it, but you are correct, Mizik... My abilities made a mockery of his creation and I was likely cursed as a result. Meaning that I can never erase this curse.""So sad to hear. But that's also a good thing for me. I don't think I would trust you if I couldn't contain you," I said."Right...and you'd be correct to assume such a thing. But I suppose I should get

I was led to a large staging area where numerous gods of the realm had gathered. Isabella followed and I instructed Stella to stay back. The three of us, that being the Albatross twins and myself, were the ones most hurt by the Oracle's actions.Today...she would suffer in front of her people. And they would bear witness to the monster she created out of her own stubbornness and stupidity. We currently stood backstage. We were waiting for the Artificer to give the signal. And that's when I heard him speak."Greetings, people of Excelsis. As you well know already, I am the Artificer. The Guardian of Dominus. Today, you have all gathered here without knowing why...and soon you will find out. Good citizens of the realm, some of you are still haunted by the things you saw before the reset was ended. Most of you have no clear idea as to why Excelsis was violently razed to the ground by the man who calls himself: Destroyer. Well...that is the folly of your former leader. The Oracle is the o

Finally, preparations were complete and the festival began.Currently the three...or four of us? Were walking through the city streets and looking at the different attractions. That is to say, the Albatross twins and Stella.I allowed the others off of the ship so that they could enjoy themselves for a bit. The Artificer assured us that the area was secure. He was sure that the Oracle's Faithful had completely abandoned Excelsis. On every corner, we saw a squad of six drones. Additionally, other groups could be seen flying around above.Still, despite all of this...Isabella remained ever vigilant. Always clinging to my arm and staying right next to me. Despite the Artificer's reassurance, she continued to protect me.Stella followed behind with a content smile on her face. After a short while of looking at the different attractions, I found Iris along with Carlos and Leiso.Carlos looked a bit bored while Leiso seemed out of place.Iris was playing a game at a stall featuring several

A few days later, things were finally beginning to look different in Excelsis.I could see flying metal constructs buzzing around in the air on insect-like wings, surveying the area. At the same time, many of the people of Excelsis were setting up decorations for a festival.Hilariously, they wouldn't know what they were celebrating until the day arrived. And as I sat on a bench nearby, Isabella sat happily next to me, clinging to my arm.Stella stood at my side surveying the area. There would have been other troops under her, but I chose not to bring them. The soldiers were specifically for the defense of the ship itself."Hmm..." "Is something wrong, Master?" Isabella said."You're having way too much fun calling me that, aren't you?" I said."Ehehe...guilty. I like seeing your reaction. But if I'm going to be a slave, I should play the part, yes?"I suppose so..." I said."I, for one, believe it to be perfectly natural to refer to his Majesty as Master," Stella said."Hm...right..

  • Chapter 252: Heart Resonance

As we walked back to the Cursebreaker, I could see Isabella constantly surveying the surrounding area for potential threats. However, many of the gods walking the streets recognized me as the one who razed Excelsis to the ground. The one who brought death and destruction to their realm. The result, was that they were absolutely terrified of me and made no attempts to approach. After all, many of them had actually been killed as a result of my actions. All the while I secretly remained on the lookout for a potential candidate. One goddess from this realm would join us on our ship. They would become mine forever and dedicate their existence to serving me and stopping the Corruption. But unfortunately, none of these would do. They were weak. I decided to ignore them and focus on something else.I had other plans, currently. I would be speaking to Iris and everyone about what she had to show them. They were valuable crew members, so I wanted to see what she had planned.Once we reached t

After a month-long journey back to Excelsis...we finally returned.I couldn't believe how long it took to get back.We didn't have access to the divine transit, and as a result, it took much longer to get there.Of course, that gave me an idea. I wondered if I could potentially have a personal god or goddess to join our crew. Then I stopped and though about it more...Definitely a goddess. While more pleasing to look at, I could bring her even closer to me. And if she's completely under my control, she'll follow every order willingly. Best of all, someone like that is highly unlikely to betray me. I wouldn't have to enact vengeance upon her and remain on good terms...I almost smiled. That would be my next goal...find a goddess to join our crew to have permanent access to the divine transit. And maybe...Make new Enforcers...?It was too amazing. Our combat force would grow significantly from such a thing. We would be even stronger than before!I made a mental note to also have Iris t

Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about computer programming to change her behavior. And Vakra refused even under the threat of death. So...we were stuck with her...A hour passed and Cassandra affectionately held onto my arm while humming."Having fun...?" I asked."Of course! I get to be with my darling Mizik!" Cassandra said happily. Then I looked forward and saw an eye staring at me in mid air a few feet away."Oh...damn it all..." I mumbled. It opened wider and Valthiem stood quietly with her mask on."Valthiem!? What are you doing here!?"
