(A/N: this chapter takes place during the two weeks after Mizik was engaged, before he was tortured. There was a mention of an incident in the ballroom regarding Cassandra as well as him showing his sword to the other nobles. This is a recounting of those events.)I was still in complete shock. The woman I had met in Lorelei turned out to be a Princess. Even more so, she wanted me to be her husband. It was still too hard to believe.But...this was my life, now.Currently, I was being escorted to one of the castle lounge areas. I didn't know my way around yet, so it was necessary.Once I arrived, I walked in and saw Isabella's face light up with happiness. She immediately stood up, ran over, and hugged me."Mizik! How did you sleep? Have you had breakfast? It's so good to see you!" She said.I'm still not used to this!"U-umm...Isabella?" I said."Yes?" She said. Her face was way too close to mine. I felt like I was overheating. She smells so sweet! I can't believe she's going to be my
I could still hear them as I dreamed. While running through Geldekairn, I heard the bloody screams of dwarves and humans alike as they were eaten alive by monsters. The roars and screeches of said monsters echoed through the dwarven city that we called home...But we could no longer call that place our home.It was gone... Or rather, we were gone.In the few moments that I had been conscious before arriving in this place, I noticed something. The air felt different. Like it was missing something that we had grown so used to. It was heavy...harder to breathe in, almost. My exhaustion from the battle we'd just escaped from multiplied greatly after I revived Isabella. I collapsed after making sure she was safe.I don't know how much time passed while I was out, but eventually, I opened my eyes.I could hear the sounds of someone crying heavily... "It's gone! Everything is gone! Why!? We were so happy!" The voice of my wife wailing in sorrow at our loss.I could understand her pain...
Since we were likely stranded, we got to work. The next few weeks were full of many things for both Isabella and me.It started with cutting down a single tree. Vengeance was capable of turning into simple tools like a hatchet, and it turned out to be more than useful here.Especially since I didn't want to cut down a tree with a sword. As possible as it might have been with these weapons, I would have felt silly doing it that way.Once the tree was down, we carved it up and drew some blueprints in the dirt. After that, we had to get some rope. All of this was done in between hunting trips, eating, and sometimes fishing.I didn't have a fishing pole, but a harpoon worked just as well. Simple weapons that didn't have moving parts usually were much more cooperative with Vengeance. Luckily, I only had to have an understanding of how to use it and how it was built.I didn't have to have mastered it.In the forest, although it was really more like a jungle, we found vines. Lots and lots of
On the morning of a day two months after we got here, I could tell that autumn had arrived. The leaves on the trees began to fall off and we started to notice a chill in the air.It was worrying, because finding food in the winter would be much harder... And truthfully, surviving the destruction of an entire world only to starve to death in another, sounded pretty pathetic.Because of this, we were preparing to do some traveling soon.As we got ready to start our day normally, suddenly Isabella stopped."Hey Mizik...? Do you hear something?" "Like what?" I asked curiously."Kind of like...I don't know... I've never heard a sound like this before..."As she spoke, I began to hear something as well.It was faint, but I heard a strange noise... I couldn't describe it even if I wanted to.The two of us got up and walked out onto the porch of our treehouse and looked in its direction. There was a large metal cylinder with wings headed straight for us... Moments later...WOOOOOOOOORRRRRRR
Several hours later, we began to see buildings pass by below us.On the horizon, was probably the largest city I had ever seen.It spread out before us and towards the center, we could see huge towers reaching into the sky."What...is all of this?" Isabella said curiously."This is the biggest city I've ever seen..." I said quietly."Do you still want to jump out of this thing, Mizik?""I think so. I'm not sure where these people could be taking us. I'm feeling a bit paranoid. That girl keeps staring at me for some reason..." I said as I glanced at the woman. She had been watching me for some time and I wasn't sure why.Not in a perverted sort of way... But it's almost like she expected me to do something. I didn't like it."Then we're agreed. Let's get out of here as soon as we pass over the city."We waited a while longer until we were above the city and then decided it was time to go.Isabella stepped towards the door and slid it open. As soon as she did the machine stopped moving
"This is the third time I've been behind bars and I'm still only fifteen," I said."At least it wasn't your fault the first two times, my love.""Wait...are you saying this is my fault?" I asked worriedly."Of course not! I wouldn't blame you for this! Although you did kill that...police officer?""He shot first, though. It was self-defense!" "I understand, Mizik."I laid back on the small bed in the cell we were in and put my hand over my eyes.At least they gave us new clothes...Our old clothes were falling apart at this point and Michael was nice enough to get us something new to wear.He was...good at determining Isabella's size just by looking at her. If I learned he was some kind of pervert, I wouldn't be surprised. He had me try on clothes by myself, however. Currently, Isabella and I were wearing a type of pants called 'jeans'. We were wearing simple shirts as well. After he gave us our clothes, we left to get changed in the bathroom. This world had bathrooms as well. Alt
We were allowed to leave the cell and passed by several groups of officers on the way out. We followed Michael outside and got into one of the wheeled machines. They were called 'cars', apparently. This one was longer than most of them and we sat in the back. It was actually quite luxurious."Where are you taking us?" Isabella asked. "I already told you, didn't I? We're going to see Iris. We'll be going to the central building here I'm Florence. That's where the rest of us are, currently.""Do they know about us?" I asked."Uhh...yeah? That's why they came here...? Gavin and Leiso were pissed, but I told them you two were alright. Dante is looking forward to meeting you, as well.""Are Gavin and Leiso going to attack us on sight?" I asked.Seemed like a reasonable question..."I dunno. They could, if you catch them in a bad mood, but more than likely, they won't if they were told not to. Still, your girlfriend should keep her shield at the ready. That thing is HARD!""Excuse me, Mizi
"Excuse me?" Isabella said. "What do you mean by that...?""You will face one of us in battle. If you succeed, we will consider you strong enough to help us out. If you fail, we will send you away," Dante said."If you send us away, does that mean we have to freeze to death when winter rolls around?" I asked."You mean go back to your...treehouse...? That, I can't answer. It depends on what Iris wants to do. She could send you to a divine realm and they would sort you out from there. Likely, you would be sent back to Avernia regardless of its current state," Dante said as he motioned towards the woman on the throne behind him.I looked up at the teal-haired woman and she smiled at me.I couldn't tell if it was friendly or not...But...the prospect of being sent back to Avernia absolutely terrified me. That world was lost and we would be sent to our doom in such a scenario."But if you prove useful, Iris should be able to grant you a blessing to help you get past the language barrier.
