In the week leading up towards our enrollment in the academy, Leiso took to training us. I made it a point to speak to her about an ability that Vengeance had, shapeshifting weapon.

Once she learned that I had such a power, she began to also help me understand how the weapons on Ignitus worked.

They had many different types of projectile, explosive, and even energy weapons that fired a superheated substance called 'plasma'. Just like what Yakon had been using.

They even had weapons that fired heated light called laser rifles.

Since it would be impossible to learn about these things in a single week, Leiso decided to put some of them on hold.

After all, the technology in Avernia was extremely primitive compared to what they had on Ignitus. I didn't have the faintest idea of how any of it functioned.

Still, I would be learning how to build, deconstruct, and preform maintenance on all of these weapons from both Leiso and specialist engineers that built them for a living.

As we continued our routine, we learned a few things about our...sadistic instructor...Surprisingly enough, Leiso was actually over 1,500 years old. She had mastered hundreds of types of martial arts and was highly experienced with all kinds of melee weapons. She also taught me how to properly fight while dual wielding swords and other types of close combat weaponry. Not that I didn't know how to use a sword, of course.Using two at the same time was much more complicated than using just one and a shield.Later in our training, I had become very adept at martial arts and Leiso helped me develop a style most suited for my offensive disposition. Isabella had taken to a more defensive and counter attack based fighting style.Leiso took a special approach to dealing with Isabella's naturally high defense and fought using steel gauntlets she summoned herself. The first time she punched Isabella directly, she broke her hand. Iris had to come by and fix it for her and she made me regret lau

"Did I hear that right!?" I asked."Two Ultra Aspects!?" Isabella said.Iris nodded."This has never happened before. In the entire history of Ignitus, no one has ever awakened two Ultra Aspects at the same time. It's unheard of. Impossible! Such a person can't exist! But...here are two of them right in front of me!""How powerful would that make someone?" I asked."Let's put it into perspective... Dante is more powerful than the vast majority of our military combined. He is the only one capable of doing battle with Kazuma and he has only one Ultra Aspect. Both of you would easily be more powerful than Dante or Kazuma... Perhaps even combined. Novak and I would be the only things capable of actually challenging you based on power alone...""But you're gods. Do gods even fight?" I asked."Of course they do! That asshole of a war god LOVES to fight people. I'm really powerful too, you know! Novak might also be evil, but he's still a god. In our divine forms, we rank higher than all mort

"Are we all prepared?" Carlos said.Everyone, including Iris all sat down at a round table in the conference room at HQ. Everyone except Carlos, of course. Today he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a white lab coat."Go ahead, Carlos," Dante said."Thank you. I've called you all here today because I want to discuss the Abyss Engine.""And isn't that your area of expertise? Have you figured it out, yet?" Michael said."If you'll let me finish, I can explain," Carlos said sternly."Yes, Mom," Michael said. Why is he an Enforcer, again...?"Iris damn it, Michael! Shut up!" Gavin shouted.Iris' expression turned sour."Excuse me!? Do you any idea how rude it is to use someone's NAME as a swear!? What the hell is wrong with you!?" Iris shouted angrily."I...uh...sorry Lady Iris..." Gavin said meekly."You better be! Don't you ever say that again! ...Jerk...""Ahem...Carlos, would you please continue...?" Dante said."Thank you. The deafening explosion obliterated everything around us.Once it had cleared, we were somehow alive. We sat within a massive crater as Kazuma drifted slowly to the ground nearby.I could see Isabella breathing heavily from the damage she'd taken.I checked her hp in the status menu and she was already at around sixty percent. This guy is absurdly strong... How can we fight something like this!?"Hmm. You two are still alive...? And Carlos also... Very well then. I will call for backup just to be safe."Kazuma raised his hands and at once, a red-haired woman appeared wearing similar attire to him...albeit, showing much more skin..."Ah...Kazuma! You really must ask before calling us to your side! I could have been bathing for all you know! Or would you have enjoyed that~?" The woman said."If you had arrived in the nude, I would have simply sent you back to get ready for battle. Now then, Elizabeth. Those two otherworlders need to die. Carlos as well.""And you need my help, because..

I truly believed I was about to die...I had so many questions about the exchange I just heard, but I wasn't sure if Iris would be here in time. Meanwhile, the Oracle was screaming obscenities at Iris and yelling at someone named Abbadon.Right now, the mere thought of the Oracle made me feel nothing but seething hatred. Hatred that could swallow a world.I wanted to tear her apart...And hopefully, I would...That is, if I survived this battle.Kazuma seemed to be preparing to strike me. The tip of his claw moved to my forehead and it began to heat up.As soon as the flickering around us stopped, Kazuma looked around."What was...hmm... That was a strange feeling... Deja vu...?" He said. Then he looked back at me.The air around my body began to greatly heat up and then...It started feeling cold.REALLY COLD.Suddenly, Kazuma looked up as several icicles and iron thorns shot straight for him.He threw me to the ground and leaped backward. As he did, iron chains and spikes shot from

When I awoke, I was in a hospital bed. Isabella was in a bed next to mine.I looked out the window and saw from the view that we were somewhere within the Enforcer HQ of Torantis.Isabella was still sleeping, but I reached over to her.At the same time, forgetting that I was missing my arm...Dammit...this is going to take some getting used to...I sighed to myself and stared at the ceiling. After laying motionless for a while, I realized I was shirtless. There were bandages around my midsection.I was sure that there was a huge claw mark on my right side, too.As if I didn't already have enough scars...When I looked at Isabella, she was also bandaged up pretty heavily. She had been treated for burns, but She didn't seem to have any lasting scars.Although some of her hair had been burned off. I knew she would be pissed about it, but the hair would eventually grow back.It seemed that Kazuma had only used fire to attack her instead of his claws for the most part. Her naturally high

A week later, I went into surgery to get a new arm. The medical doctors were much cleaner on Ignitus than Avernia. It was a much more comfortable ordeal. Isabella was worried about me the entire time, but I was fine. They connected my nerve endings to the machinery so that it would move naturally. But this was not my arm.It had none of the scars Cassandra left me.This arm didn't move the same. It wasn't natural at all.I wanted to tear it off and beat Kazuma to death with it, but that would have to wait.Worst of all, I couldn't feel Isabella when I touched her face or stroked her hair with this arm. It just served to make me angrier. At times, I felt like screaming in rage or crying. But I couldn't bring myself to do any of those things. Instead, I was forced to once again bottle things up inside.Although, Isabella was aware of me doing it. She didn't try to stop me, but instead, tried her best to comfort me.From my left side. She recognized that my inability to feel her with my

The Oracle was quite literally dragged to the Cursebreaker. She had gone completely insane after being killed, tortured, and reset ten thousand times."I have successfully discovered the source of my curse," Vakra said."Is it her?" I said as I looked at the Oracle. She wouldn't move anymore."No. Her power is part of it, but she isn't the one who cursed me. I'm guessing that it was a higher power. But who could be higher than the Oracle? The Creator, of course.""So you were cursed by the architect of all of creation? That makes sense. Why would he want you running wild and defying reality like that?""Ugh...it pains me to admit it, but you are correct, Mizik... My abilities made a mockery of his creation and I was likely cursed as a result. Meaning that I can never erase this curse.""So sad to hear. But that's also a good thing for me. I don't think I would trust you if I couldn't contain you," I said."Right...and you'd be correct to assume such a thing. But I suppose I should get

I was led to a large staging area where numerous gods of the realm had gathered. Isabella followed and I instructed Stella to stay back. The three of us, that being the Albatross twins and myself, were the ones most hurt by the Oracle's actions.Today...she would suffer in front of her people. And they would bear witness to the monster she created out of her own stubbornness and stupidity. We currently stood backstage. We were waiting for the Artificer to give the signal. And that's when I heard him speak."Greetings, people of Excelsis. As you well know already, I am the Artificer. The Guardian of Dominus. Today, you have all gathered here without knowing why...and soon you will find out. Good citizens of the realm, some of you are still haunted by the things you saw before the reset was ended. Most of you have no clear idea as to why Excelsis was violently razed to the ground by the man who calls himself: Destroyer. Well...that is the folly of your former leader. The Oracle is the o

The Artificer assured us that the area was secure. He was sure that the Oracle's Faithful had completely abandoned Excelsis. On every corner, we saw a squad of six drones. Additionally, other groups could be seen flying around above.Still, despite all of this...Isabella remained ever vigilant. Always clinging to my arm and staying right next to me. Despite the Artificer's reassurance, she continued to protect me.Stella followed behind with a content smile on her face. After a short while of looking at the different attractions, I found Iris along with Carlos and Leiso.Carlos looked a bit bored while Leiso seemed out of place.Iris was playing a game at a stall featuring several

  • Chapter 253: Missing Faithful

A few days later, things were finally beginning to look different in Excelsis.I could see flying metal constructs buzzing around in the air on insect-like wings, surveying the area. At the same time, many of the people of Excelsis were setting up decorations for a festival.Hilariously, they wouldn't know what they were celebrating until the day arrived. And as I sat on a bench nearby, Isabella sat happily next to me, clinging to my arm.Stella stood at my side surveying the area. There would have been other troops under her, but I chose not to bring them. The soldiers were specifically for the defense of the ship itself."Hmm..." "Is something wrong, Master?" Isabella said."You're having way too much fun calling me that, aren't you?" I said."Ehehe...guilty. I like seeing your reaction. But if I'm going to be a slave, I should play the part, yes?"I suppose so..." I said."I, for one, believe it to be perfectly natural to refer to his Majesty as Master," Stella said."Hm...right..

  • Chapter 252: Heart Resonance

As we walked back to the Cursebreaker, I could see Isabella constantly surveying the surrounding area for potential threats. However, many of the gods walking the streets recognized me as the one who razed Excelsis to the ground. The one who brought death and destruction to their realm. The result, was that they were absolutely terrified of me and made no attempts to approach. After all, many of them had actually been killed as a result of my actions. All the while I secretly remained on the lookout for a potential candidate. One goddess from this realm would join us on our ship. They would become mine forever and dedicate their existence to serving me and stopping the Corruption. But unfortunately, none of these would do. They were weak. I decided to ignore them and focus on something else.I had other plans, currently. I would be speaking to Iris and everyone about what she had to show them. They were valuable crew members, so I wanted to see what she had planned.Once we reached t

After a month-long journey back to Excelsis...we finally returned.I couldn't believe how long it took to get back.We didn't have access to the divine transit, and as a result, it took much longer to get there.Of course, that gave me an idea. I wondered if I could potentially have a personal god or goddess to join our crew. Then I stopped and though about it more...Definitely a goddess. While more pleasing to look at, I could bring her even closer to me. And if she's completely under my control, she'll follow every order willingly. Best of all, someone like that is highly unlikely to betray me. I wouldn't have to enact vengeance upon her and remain on good terms...I almost smiled. That would be my next goal...find a goddess to join our crew to have permanent access to the divine transit. And maybe...Make new Enforcers...?It was too amazing. Our combat force would grow significantly from such a thing. We would be even stronger than before!I made a mental note to also have Iris t

Unfortunately, I didn't know enough about computer programming to change her behavior. And Vakra refused even under the threat of death. So...we were stuck with her...A hour passed and Cassandra affectionately held onto my arm while humming."Having fun...?" I asked."Of course! I get to be with my darling Mizik!" Cassandra said happily. Then I looked forward and saw an eye staring at me in mid air a few feet away."Oh...damn it all..."
