Two years of training and learning.I was eighteen now and Isabella was twenty. We worked for a long time, training to properly use our new weapons and learning the weaponry of this world.I learned a lot about technology too. I now had a deep understanding of many kinds of weaponry. Energy weapons, plasma weapons, ballistic weapons, explosives, etcetera.I also knew about using them.Leiso had turned us both into lethal soldiers and we were almost on the same level of hand-to-hand combat as she was.In the two years we had spent training, we weren't attacked once. Michael killed a few more assassins, but none of them ever reached us.He was supposedly able to use an odd trick with light and darkness that would show if someone's hair had been dyed or not.Attendants in Arcadia were not allowed to dye their hair under any circumstances unless they had special government permission to do so. It let everyone know that they were Attendants and served as a badge of office.Exposed Attendan
As we sat down outside the training facility deep underground, I toyed with my status menu and immersed myself in meditation.I wanted to make the status menu more efficient while also seeing what types of spells I could use right now.First, I gave myself infinite skill points. Then I realized I didn't need to do that and didn't bother fixing it.After that, I checked the skill activation system.I modified it so that I didn't have to shout out skill names anymore. Although, there was a setting rooted to the base of the entire system that increased their power by a fair margin if I shouted the skill name.I decided that I would continue to call out skill names for now. At least until I figured out how to modify it. If I had to kill someone without people noticing, this would be a huge help.I also didn't bother tampering with Isabella's status menu until I had perfected mine. She was completely okay with this and instead, spent her time trying out new ways to make barriers. The Archm
After our sparring match, the other Enforcers returned to their work.We asked about Carlos and why he didn't participate, but he was apparently very busy working on the Abyss Engine issue. He had almost reconstructed the one we broke three years ago. Currently, it was being held in a separate facility than the one Kazuma destroyed. Carlos was a smart man, and predicted that very scenario as a possibility.Iris led us out of the HQ and we took a limousine to a nearby liftoff area that housed a helicopter.Considering the one on top of the HQ was currently unusable and it wasn't safe to be up there.Although surprisingly, the HQ had already been made mostly stable thanks to Dante and Leiso's efforts to minimize damage. Currently they were assessing the extent of the damage and were about to start repairs. We took the helicopter to the airport and made our way to Ulkanos.* * *We rode in a private jet instead of a regular plane because our faces were now plastered everywhere. We didn'
"Excuse me?" I said."Yeah, you two are taking a vacation to Nexus soon. Should be fun!" Michael said."Isn't that incredibly dangerous?" Isabella said."Of course it is! But you two are more than capable of handling anything they throw at you. Although, I haven't said everything yet.""Then please continue, Michael," Isabella said."So here's the deal, last time Iris went over there, Novak told her that if she showed up again they would kill her. Normally, that's a hollow threat, but... They actually have the power to do that now using the Abyss Engine.""Again with that thing?" I said."The Abyss Engine neutralizes her power as a goddess and renders her vulnerable. If Iris dies, the Enforcers go with her. Except you two, that is. You two aren't sustained by her power. The divine energy sustaining you comes from somewhere else. All Iris did was activate it within you and manifest your Aspects.""Very well then, tell us the plan," Isabella said. "The entire region of Nexus has been o
The next day, we ate breakfast and I began meditation again.I wanted to make some last minute changes to the status magic system I planned to cast on the Enforcers. As far as I could tell, the Enforcer Aspects gave incredible power but didn't alter my stats in any way.In fact, the changes seemed to be invisible. I knew for a fact that I was faster, stronger, more durable, and had sharpened senses. But my stat pool remained more or less the same.But...this was actually to my advantage.Because the others would start at level 1 and still retain their current strength.Next, there was the issue of gaining exp.First, I had to understand what happened when someone gained exp. A piece of the soul from slain monsters and...people...was converted into a substance called spectral energy. This spectral energy was only able to be collected through the use of the status menu's interface. It awarded the user with 'experience' and helped them grow stronger.Since everyone had an innate limit o
The next day we began settling into a new routine. We had to practice our abilities, so Rune offered to spar with us.She was extremely efficient in battle and held the Advanced Aspect of Telekinesis.Although being an Attendant meant she only had one Aspect and its power wasn't very high. Nonetheless, she used it well as a means of assassination with the many small throwing knives she held. She was incapable of hitting me, though. I even allowed her to utilize actual firearms...with some convincing, of course.Rune also learned of the futility of conventional weapons against Isabella's barriers. Her personal defense wasn't quite as immense as it would have been with Bravery, but it was still very high with the combination of Honor and The Centurion. Actually, it was still higher than when she had Bravery in the past.At some point, Rune accepted that she wouldn't be able to scratch us and went all out.It was also important for us to know that she could be trusted to help on the fiel
We had been inside the Hammerhead for a week, now on our way to the part of Nexus that we would be infiltrating.Currently, we wore Nexus combat uniforms. The standard clothing of most of the citizens from that country. We had already adopted the appearance of Tyranus and Alice, and had been practicing referring to each other by name.Currently, 'Alice' sat beside me."I really can't wait until this is all over, Tyranus. I want you to be Mizik again.." Alice said."I know. Isabella is the woman I love and who I married. I want you to be her again as well, but that will have to wait."Alice nodded and then hugged my arm."I don't like Tyranus, but I can at least remember you're actually my husband. So I'll be Alice as long as you need me to be," she said. What I didn't mind, was the fact that Tyranus was taller than me. He was around 6'5. I was kind of enjoying the view...Just then, the hatch on our door opened and Leiso walked in."Mizik, Isabella, we're approaching the coast," she
The first thing I noticed upon reaching solid ground after teleporting, was how much magical power it actually used.Teleporting myself was one thing, even mildly long distances. But more than one person? I would need to think carefully before trying this again because I felt exhausted for a few minutes after we landed.Alice put her hands on my arm and looked at me. I couldn't see her face due to the mask, but I knew she was worried."Are you okay, Tyranus?" She asked quietly."I'm...fine... Let's just get moving."There weren't any living people around, but we remained invisible and kept our masks on. Once we reached the fence, I reluctantly teleported us a short distance to the other side and we ran into the forest.Alice made sure to restore my strength so that we could escape."What's the plan, now?" Alice asked."Well, we need to get to the capital. So let's go to the nearest city and see if we can get on a plane.""Understood."* * *After that, we spent the next few days trav
