The Hawthornes in Trouble

The tension in the room is heightened when Gordon proposes a very extreme course of action. "We can finish off Suzzane and her sister Lucy who are out of town. Those who have told the truth!"

Mr White, who had previously vigorously defended them, immediately opposed this proposal firmly. "Mr. Hawthorne, that would complicate matters. We could be even more heavily charged."

Dylan, who seemed calmer than Gordon, agreed with Mr. White, and he scolded his son. "Mr. White is right, Gordon. We've been too hasty in carrying out this plan. Don't repeat your stupid act again!"

However, Rita chose to defend her son, "This is not Gordon's fault. He was just trying to protect us all!"

Mr. White tried to defuse the tension by offering a more tactful suggestion, "How about we give Suzzane some money to hush up? I can arrange for the criminal element to be ostensibly removed. This case can be closed quietly."

Dylan seemed interested in the suggestion. "Can it be done?"
