Chapter One Hundred And Sixty Two

She ran like her life depended on it, weaving between parked cars and alleys because it did.

She was being chased by someone she didn’t know. She had on Nike shorts and a plain black tank top with her hair in rollers looking like she was about to go to bed because that was what she had been trying to do when she heard a crash from outside her bedroom door, down the hall from the toilet.

When she crept out, she saw a shadow from under the door because the light was still on and she hightailed it out of there, hoping to get a bat or something to defend herself.

However, when she saw a big, burly guy coming to her with a knife, she took off outside the house, to save herself.

She was still running, looking back at intervals to see where he was.

Previously, she was several steps ahead with a large gap between them but the last time she looked back, she saw that he was way closer. She cursed her luck at not keeping in shape with her body when she finally had enough money to afford a gym
