The Root Cause

Andrew hailed a cab and headed home, consumed by anger over the recent events. As he entered his house, he slammed the door shut, shutting out the world.

He proceeded straight to the bar, grabbing a drink and pouring himself a glass of wine, which he swiftly downed in a single gulp.

Lost in his thoughts, Andrew replayed the events that had just unfolded, muttering to himself, "Why do I keep falling for her? I promised myself I wouldn't develop feelings for her again, yet here I am, foolishly falling once more." He heavily tapped his head with his right hand, a gesture of frustration.

However, as he recollected Hannah's final words, doubt began to creep into Andrew's mind. "But it seemed like she still has feelings for me... No, what am I thinking? I believe it's all an act... She's only interested in me for my wealth," Andrew reasoned to himself, attempting to console his wounded heart by pouring another glass of wine and taking a sip.
