It was a big party at the Marcus’ family house. Cephas had been doing odd jobs since he had arrived at their home. He was back as the useless-in-law

They were commemorating Violet’s arrival from jail. Cephas got kicked out by his father.

His father was such a powerful man that he even got his personal account locked. He didn't even have time to grieve for his lover. The woman he loved so much, if the Marcus’ were still staying in their former area he would have gone to see Tyla’s room.

That was now impossible as they had moved to a bigger house in the town. Their family house was now much bigger. Some cousins now stay with them. Cephas didn’t even know how they were related.

He was the only stranger amongst them, what worsened things was they all knew that Violet went to jail because of him.

“Take this as a big lesson, never to be rude to my daughter.” Mrs Marcus yelled at his face, leaving him in big confusion. He didn’t even know where he had gone wrong. He had only said yes to what Violet had said, now a bowl of soup was downed on his head. They had been pointing accusing fingers at him for making their daughter go to jail when she was clearly at fault. She had vandalized the store and ran away with it plus they didn’t hire any lawyer for her. Why is he taking the fall for it? If her parents had provided a lawyer for her, she would have probably gotten out on probation.“I am sorry,” he lowered his head in shame and annoyance since he couldn’t do anything in his defense or even confront “Come and seat my dear wife. Ignore the boy.” Mr Marcus signaled to his wife to return to her seat and she answered obediently.Cephas could not believe his eyes that his mother in law could listen to her husband in such a respectful way without complaining.Things had changed so m

118 Cephas parked the newly acquired BMW in front of the Marcus’ office building. He wondered where they had gotten all the money to fund this. The last time he had checked, they were in lots of debts.Unless his father had cleared it all for them. Why would he do that? Where had everything gone wrong? He was as confused as hell but only going with the flow.A slap landed at the back of his. “Did you doze off?” Violet yelled at him. “Get my bags and let’s get going. We are late already.” She said before alighting from the car.He picked her bags and went in with heer. As soon as they entered the company, the attention of everyone was on them.“Do you know who that is?” one of the staff whispered to another. “Who is he? Is he not the driver of the new CEO.”“You are so naive. That is the CEO’s useless husband. He is so broke and poor that she divorced him at first. Then he returned back to their family to beg for hands back. The CEO was so kind to take him back. If it were me I would

Violet walked into the Abraham's building, her floral gown complimenting her beauty, but she was a beauty without brains that was why she was resorting to sexual favor. Just then Abraham appeared.“I have been waiting for you.” She smiled at him and rubbed her body against him flirtatiously. Abraham winked Cephas before speaking to her, “Is this your husband? The one you took back?”“Yes, I didn’t know you listened to rumors too.” She giggled which irritated Cephas. The laughter wasn’t even necessary, she wasn’t acting like a CEO one bit, rather an escort. He missed Tyla, she knew business so well, unlike this empty head.“It is a very common truth that everyone knows so it would be strange if I didn’t know about it. Why did he come back to you? Is he so much in love with you?” Abraham sneered. There was mockery in his tone, Cephas was wondering if Violet could even pick it up, she was just interested in using shortcuts to get the investment.“If he loves me, that is his headache. How is Anta?” “We are good sir, I have good news for you.”Good news? Maybe it would lift his mood a bit. He had been feeling down since his mind crossed Tyla.“Did you find something?”“Yes, I saw that when you were in your teens, you had saved him money to invest in a local gold mine. Now it is worth billions of dollars. Which will be more than enough to bring you out of the Marcus family." Jose said with excitement in his voice.“Oh, that? I remember that. Zoro had told my father about it and he threw a fit saying I acted out of desperation but how did you know I got scolded for it?” Cephas asked confusedly.Even if they had found the investment papers , they were not supposed to know that.“I was looking through your business journal, that was how I came across the investment sir. That is twenty percent of the initial amount we requested for? “Boss, we have found who sent her those letters.” Jose said into the phone. Cephas had retired back into his cozy room then he put a call through to his assistants.“They were from your father. He had spent lots of money on his step sister even more than any other persons in their family had gifted her but she still chose to leave him, framing him alongside her mom and brother. That has made him very skeptical when trusting someone. “I hope the workload isn't stressing Anta and the baby? They didn’t usually look hungry as if they were going to bite their victim immediately. The class president spoke up, “We are still waiting for Mark, he said he is running late because of the job he just got, he went to receive the staff incentive that came with the job.”He didn't really have to add the fact that he went to receive an incentive as if he was trying to show off on behalf of Mark.“Mark got a job?” Cephas asked. “For what company?” he asked curiously because his company was also giving incentives to their new staff.“It’s a new investment company.
