In the morning, Charlotte woke up with a headache from last night's hangover. She blinked her eyes while sitting up. Her body was only covered by a blanket, unprotected by a single thread. She didn't remember what happened last night, but she and Jake had spent a long and brutal first night. The room was messy, with their clothes scattered all over the floor.

Charlotte reached for her cell phone on the nightstand. She looked at the screen full of messages and missed call notifications. She opened one of the messages from her mother asking how she was doing after learning the news of Selena's wedding. Remembering that made her angry again.
