"Where are we?" Ryusuke asked Lee in a sharp tone that seemed to demand nothing but respect. Which unfortunately for him, Lee had zero intention of giving. "I'd explain it for you but I don't think your stuck up brain would be willing to accept it," the white haired young man derided. "All you need to know is that you won't be going back to the real world until I say so." Ryusuke glanced around. The forest was very much the same as it had been a few moments ago, but somehow he just knew that this was not the real world. Which meant that the Hunter had not been pulling his legs. "Is that so?" The regal looking Asian muttered and held his sword out at his side. "Will I be right to assume that the same would apply should I relieve you off your life then?" The grin that spread across Lee's face was nothing short of devious as he flexed his long crimson claws wildly. "Oh you and I are gonna get along just fine!!" With a powerful leap, he crossed the distance between them an
"You shut your mouth!" Rin yelled as she rushed in for a frontal slash that aimed to bisect the alpha Hunter. 'So she's sensitive about her brother huh?' Michael made the observation even as he effortlessly dodged her attacks before retaliating with a backhand that her sword flashed up to block. Successful as that was, it did nothing to mitigate the amount of force behind the blow. Rin was sent flying backwards where she righted herself in midair and kicked off towards him again. This time she aimed low, seeking to unbalance the Hunter. Rather dodge out of few way, Michael moved with a sudden burst of speed and brought his foot down on the flat of the sword. The unpredictable action nearly forced the weapon from the female assassin's hands but she recovered with admirable speed and lashed out with an overhead kick in an impressive show of her flexibility. Michael caught tee kick with his right hand and shifted to release her sword while simultaneously flinging her away like a ra
The Dead Man's Midnight Menagerie. That was the name of his ability. The power that allowed Koya Omori to summon all sorts of creatures and monsters from any folktale he had ever heard. Having grown up in a hidden clan that had existed for generations beneath the shadow of civilization through out its modernization, he had had no shortage of material to fuel the power that had been gifted to him by the clan elders. Japanese folklore was full of all sorts of stories about beasts and demons, creatures and monsters whose very existence could send shivers down the spine of the strongest and bravest of warriors. Beings that brought nothing but death and destruction everywhere they went. Such was the fear of them that their stories were used to keep rowdy children in line, lest the monsters of the night would sniff out their misbehavior, hunt them down and devour them whole. And yet... No matter what he did... No matter how many beasts he summoned... That damned Hunter had
This guy was proving to be far more annoying than Olivia had expected. Despite the inability of his Organ Destroying Venom to kill her as he had envisioned, the assassin Shin had not relented in his attacks. In fact, if anything he had suddenly become more vicious with his attacks. To his credit Olivia would honestly acknowledge his mastery of the sword with what she had seen so far. He was fast and precise in his movements, and his strength was nothing to discard either. But more than anything else, Olivia had noticed that his mood was quite volatile. He had gone from sadistically happy to sickeningly cheerful right down to a frustrated murderous anger. The last one had come a few moments after his most dangerous ability had proved unable to affect her. Hous frustration had died down quickly enough though and he had begun to fight her with a far more composed demeanor. Even his attacks, though they had not undergone any reduction in intensity, now seemed more focused and concent
As she performed a series of hops to avoid several streams of toxic petals, Olivia mentally estimated the distance between her and the assassin to be less than twenty meters. She could cross it without much difficulty to blitz the bastard, but doing so while avoiding these damn things would be all but impossible. She knew how smart this bastard was. There was no way he would not be able to tell what her plan was the moment she made that move. A mad dash in his direction, discounting any and every other thing would also allow her to reach him quickly enough. But that would only further increase the strain on her mind as she would undoubtedly suffer immense damage, which would be healed by her ability at the cost of more of her mind slipping out of her control. 'God I hate this so much! But it doesn't look like there's another way. Dodging these things isn't getting me any where. I'll just keep taking damage and healing until I lose it. Looks
Dragons. His ability allowed him to summon dragons. Why the hell would his ability allow him to summon freaking dragons?! Was there really no fairness in this world? The assassin Ryusuke Sakai drew back his sword, his bright blue eyes staring right into Lee's crimson ones. "Here I come," he said and vanished. Lee's senses went haywire with danger alerts and he looked up to see the assassin bearing down at him with a wide slash that split the air and sent all seven dragons roaring down at him. The Hunter leapt back in a series of backflips to avoid the divebombing draconic missiles. Each one exploded upon contact with the earth with more than enough force to completely destroy an armored tank. The blast wave caught Lee in the draft and sent him careening backwards into the forest. Scarcely had he managed to regain his bearing that he felt an ominous sensation hovering over him. Lee was not the most combat-experienced Hunter in the entire squad for no reason. His
The subtle pressure on the back of Ryusuke's mind since the moment he had seen the Hunter unharmed by his attack suddenly intensified to unbelievable levels and he found himself leaping back as the Hunter suddenly appeared before and slashed down. His feet had not even touched the earth when the platinum blonde boy vanished again and reappeared right above him, bringing both of his swords down in a surely fatal strike that Ryusuke immediately brought his own katana up to block. The blow nearly knocked his sword out of his hands. 'What is this?! This strength... It's almost on par with Hatoshi at his maximum output!!' The Hunter grinned wildly at him, having noticed the instant change in his formerly expressionless face. Up close, Ryusuke could see that his hair was no longer snow white as it had been previously. Now there were a few locks of vermilion colored hair among the still predominantly white mane. But he did not have much
Effectively gaining control of the dragon's movement, Lee slammed his foot on its back and stirred it around to direct it straight at Ryusuke. The assassin's eyes widened and he pushed himself to the left in a wide jump to avoid the rogue energy dragon, leaving it to obliterate a good sector of the forest edge where the battle had taken them. Having ditched his unwilling draconic ride moments before its 'death' by jumping back into the air, Lee found himself besieged on both sides again by the assassin's final pair of dragons. A wide open mouthed grin spread across his face as he used more blood to create two separate platforms that he used to push his body into a spinning rotation that had both bladed ends of his chain scythe wounding and wrapping around the necks of both dragons. He landed on the ground a couple of seconds later and dragged both energy constructs down behind him where they both detonated in death, all without sustaining a single non-self inflicted injury on
