Five years later... In 2100.

"Ten!"

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

The senior students shouted in unison at the top of the forestry faculty building, in Safe City New Jersey University, each of them holding a glass of beer.

"Seven!"

"Six!"

"Hey! Amma! I am over here!" Dim-Dim called out to Amma as soon as he saw her in a pink ash T-shirt and cardigan, just stepping into the rooftop area of the building.

"Five!"

"Four!"

Amma leaped towards Dim-Dim. "Hey!" she greeted him.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"How are y—"

But Dim-Dim had already pulled Amma towards him, kissing her lips.

"One! Happy New Year!"

Amma chuckled as Dim-Dim released her. "Don't do that suddenly!" she scolded him, while adjusting her glasses. Her face reddened.

Dim-Dim laughed. For a moment, he running his fingers through his hair, smoothed his hair because Amma looked so beautiful. "I am sorry," he said, sincerely, as beautiful fireworks exploded above them. A girl from the campus magazine club snapped a photo of them, and they momentarily pos

When Dim-Dim arrived at the location of the house, he saw that it was already surrounded by yellow tape and filled with police officers milling about. Journalists and neighbors crowded in front of the fence, a boy about Cath's age stood silently in front of the quieter house, his gaze fixed on three body bags about to be loaded into an ambulance.Dim-Dim quickly landed on one of the birch tree branches and then leaped down, transforming into his human form."Officer!" he called to a policeman carrying the body bags. They saw Dim-Dim, realizing he was one of the Damisch family members, and immediately stopped to let him identify the bodies.Dim-Dim's hands trembled as he unzipped the body bag, finding his father's pale face. His hands shook wanting to unzip further, to see more, but the policemen shook their heads faintly at him."Don't, the condition of the body is unpleasant to see," said one of the female officers, her voice gentle yet warning.Dim-Dim trusted her. Clarinassa asked gently, as Amma blinked her eyes. The girl had been laid down by Dim-Dim on the bed in Damian's guest room."I—where's Dim-Dim?" she asked."I'm here," Dim-Dim said, who was actually reading a book on the floor while leaning against the bed.Amma looked nervous when she saw him. "I think I dozed off," she said, trying to sound casual, but Dim-Dim and Clarinassa could both hear the guilt in her tone."I think it was more like fainting than dozing off," Clarinassa said.Amma grimaced, then looked at Dim-Dim. Only Dim-Dim's reaction mattered right now."I'll go see how the kitchen is right now," Clarinassa said, then she left."What's wrong with the kitchen?" That same evening, Dim-Dim packed his clothes, laptop, and any other items he might need during his time in New York City, and then they—himself, Amma, and Pedro—set off for New York City. They went through the Holland Tunnel as usual, and after a quite long journey, their car drove across the Brooklyn Bridge, heading to Amma's apartment in Brooklyn. Dim-Dim had passed this route so many times that he already knew the way to Amma's house by heart.*****"I hope you feel comfortable staying here," Amma said cheerfully, while arranging Dim-Dim's stack of clothes next to hers in the wardrobe. Dim-Dim actually hoped he could sleep in Pedro's room, but it turned out Pedro was very private about his room—and Amma didn't mind sharing her bedroom with Dim-Dim. After all, they were lovers."So," Amma said as she walked towards Dim-Dim and sat on the bed beside him, "tell me about the outline of your research.""In general, I'll just be researching how type A monsters can mutate and regenerate

"Hey, you came back right on time!" exclaimed Amma cheerfully as Dim-Dim had just entered Amma's apartment at seven in the evening. "We're going to order food. There's really delicious Thai food nearby, but I'm craving chicken katsu from a restaurant that's a bit far from here. So, we'll vote."Pedro snorted from behind the sofa. "Listen, Dim-Dim. When Amma says 'chicken' katsu, it's not really chicken, but some kind of flour concoction made to taste and feel like chicken. Don't be fooled by vegetarian tricks," Pedro said.Dim-Dim laughed. "I vote for chicken katsu, then." He squatted to take off his shoes and then put on slippers, joining Amma and Pedro who were sitting on the sofa in front of the TV."So, Dim-Dim and I choose chicken katsu," said Amma, grinning. "2-1. You're in the minority, Pedro. You've lost the vote, so go ahead and buy dinner for us.""Aaarrgh, this isn't fair, Dim-Dim is your boyfriend," Pedro said, pretending to be upset. It felt like crushing gravel with a stone; the creature's skin was so tough that it was very difficult to smash. But Dim-Dim, who was trained well, was used to facing creatures with skin as hard as concrete, so he was accustomed to exerting force..."Do you want to kill that creature?" a voice suddenly asked, and Dim-Dim immediately turned. Tara was watching him from the hospital yard. They were separated by a tall fence.Dim-Dim decided to smash the creature with extra force, ending it life quickly, then turned to face Tara."I'm doing research," he replied.Tara didn't seem satisfied with his answer."Killing a creature with a stone is self-harm," she finally said. The laboratory where Amma works is located in the center of Manhattan, not far from the Lincoln Center, which is quite far from the hospital in Brooklyn. Dim-Dim decided to transform into an eagle and fly there. When he arrived at the white building with architecture that reminded him of waffle stacks bitten here and there, he saw that Amma and her friends were already gathered in the cafeteria on the ground floor of the building, gossiping while drinking coffee. They were all wearing white lab coats."Hi, guys, sorry I'm a bit late," he said, dragging a chair from another table and sitting next to Amma.Amma smiled widely at him as she handed him a untouched and still warm cup of coffee, along with two small sachets of sugar and cream. "Guys, this is Dim-Dim, my boyfriend," Amma said, and her friends immediately cheered excitedly."Wow, I didn't know you liked younger guys," said one of her colleagues, making a gesture with his hand that Dim-Dim found lewd.Amma just laughed. Dim-Dim felt a surge of adrenaline as he flew over New York City without knowing where to go. He thought about Amma and the perfect Malcolm.Of course, from the beginning, he knew it would end up like this if one day Amma found a man who shared her interests but could be boasted about in front of her parents. And if Malcolm's parents were friends with Amma's parents, then they were undoubtedly wealthy. Dim-Dim was nothing.Tired of flying, Dim-Dim decided to stop at a park, which he had destroyed during a mission a few years ago. Now the playground had been repaired and even looked much better than in previous years. He was watching young children playing ball when suddenly his ears caught a scream from behind the bushes, and he immediately got up. Everyone turned to look in one direction, but only for a few seconds before deciding to continue playing. But Dim-Dim never ignored a scream. He leaped over the park bench and then searched through the bushes. And after a terrifying minute,

"Girls always end up with the wrong guys."And at that moment, Dim-Dim didn't realize when his fist was already on Malcolm's face. In a satisfying second, he felt Malcolm's nose bone break under his clenched fist, and Malcolm's head jerked backwards. Then one hand of the man cupped his bleeding nose, and only then did Dim-Dim realize what he had done."You don't know what I've endured and held back to be with Amma right now," Dim-Dim said with hatred, before he turned into a husky and ran away.*****For this time, Dim-Dim flew to his apartment in Safe City, New Jersey.Dim-Dim knew he shouldn't have just run away like that. Dear, Dim-Dim, the greatest veterinarian in the world! (if not in my heart)Right now I'm in a city that is extremely remote on the border between Malaysia and Thailand. It's nice here. The air is humid and warm. The children here are quite friendly. Currently, it's Eid, so the adults are distributing food and money. I don't have much money (I think I'm broke!) so I treated them to ice cream. Look at our photo eating ice cream, isn't it sweet? I will return to France, to work and earn money to travel the world again. But I thought I'd visit you first before becoming a corporate slave again, for motivation. See you at your clinic! With love, Velicia.PS: I attached my phone number. By the time my letter arrives, I should be in your country! The letter arrived the next day, along with a piece of paper containing a phone number and a photo of a woman with curly red hair eating ice cream with five children who appear to be locals. They looked happy, so Dim-Dim felt a little jealous.Dim-D

The unpleasant incident occurred one month after Amma became a partner veterinarian at the clinic where she worked. At that time, Dim-Dim had so many patients arriving that the waiting room was full. There was a child who brought twelve of his cats to be injected for scabies, and there was a dog that slipped from the third floor and needed immediate surgery. The dog's case was so severe that Dim-Dim had to consult with his university professor. He was in the midst of this important meeting via Skype when a wealthy man arrived with a bodyguard.Billy barged in uninvited into Dim-Dim's workspace, startling Dim-Dim and Ron, who were deeply engaged in a discussion with the university professor."What's going on? You can't just barge in like this!" protested Ron, but Billy's bodyguard immediately pushed him aside, causing Billy to cough and bow."Are you the owner of this clinic?" Billy asked Dim-Dim."Yes, and who are you?" Dim-Dim asked. "We're busy here.""I'm engaged to one of the vete

Max's surgery was intense. Now, after a successful operation, Dim-Dim laid Max down in an empty cage and went out to make tea for himself, Ron, and Justin.During times like these, Dim-Dim always opted for tea instead of coffee, and it was always low-caffeine tea."So, will the dog be alright?" Justin asked, sipping his tea."Yeah, you can call their owners tomorrow," Dim-Dim replied. "Let them know Max needs to be hospitalized for at least three weeks."Justin sighed heavily, nodding. "Alright. Thanks for tonight, buddy. I gotta head back and get some rest," Justin said.Afterwards, Dim-Dim escorted him to his luxury car parked outside the clinic.Once Justin had returned home, Dim-Dim looked at Ron, who was already snoring on the couch. He closed the clinic's front door and locked it. He then took Ron's jacket from the coat rack, draped it over him, and headed upstairs to his comfortable apartment. Should I get involved or not?Dim-Dim hesitated. He knew he shouldn't interfere in Amaliah Parenze's affairs, but he detested guys who threatened women, and even more so those who threatened defenseless pets. He was still uncertain when Amma emerged from the bathroom, fragrant and surrounded by steam."The hot water works well, unlike in my apartment," she said with a small laugh. She picked up the sweater and pajama pants Dim-Dim had laid out for her, then went back into the bathroom to change. Returning in the sweater that fit her perfectly and with the pajama pants rolled up to fit, she wrapped her hair in a towel and took a seat across from Dim-Dim at the breakfast bar."Thanks for letting me use your bathroom. You're really kind," Amma said, pouring tea into her cup, taking a sip, and smiling. "Mmm... it smells great, and it's blue.
