Chapter 86

Cory's gaze shifted from the Sheriff to the voice that had just interrupted. There was a middle-aged man standing behind the sheriff. The man took two more steps and was now standing next to the sheriff.

As the man exchanged greetings with the Sheriff, Cory looked closely. The man looked quite familiar. Cory was sure about this, but he couldn't really place where he knew the man from.

He tried to rack his brain for a while whether or not he would get a catch, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't reach the answer he was craving for.

"You must remember me." The man offered his hand to Cory.

"Please excuse me." The Sheriff turned around and returned to the vehicles.

At once, the vehicles left the premises.

Cory could now concentrate on the man. He was staring at the hand of the man that had been stretched, seeking for a shake. He didn't take the hand. He tried to make another attempt whether or not he would recall from where he knew the man.
