Liam got home upon not fulfilling his plan of spying on Avery Duffer. Seeing her look happy with someone else who wasn't him just hit him with a lot of emotions. How she turned him down hurt deeply but he could not blame her, since he chose Stevie-Lou over her, right after she confessed her love for him.Liam could clearly see how hurt she was back then. And even the way she had wept. It made guilt stab through him. It was true that she needed to live a happy life after being through so much for his sake."Why do you look like that, all of a sudden?" Inquired Samuel Roderick upon seeing Liam return to his home."And why are you here without seeking my permission?" Liam asked him with a slight frown."I thought I was in your little group, after letting you see the gold," Samuel rubbed his palms together and winked at Liam.Liam just sighed and said nothing else. He wanted to head to his room so he could be alone with his thoughts, but having Samuel Roderick there just ruined things.
"Avery?" Liam was surprised to see Avery at the door. She had made her way in without knocking. It was morning and she was supposed to be at her company or performing a task given to her by her boss from the CIA, but she chose to stop by his place."Let's put yesterday behind us and discuss how to get the gold out since we don't need to demolish the building anymore," she told Liam as she walked further into the dining room where Samuel Roderick and Big Tony were having breakfast, except Liam who had his laptop in front of him instead."Woah, we weren't exactly expecting to see you here," said Samuel with a mouth full of food."What do you even mean by that?" Avery wrinkled her face at him, not understanding what exactly he meant by that."Liam…" Samuel Roderick was about to spill the exact thing Liam told them the previous day when Big Tony hurriedly stomped on his foot."Ow!" The man growled, forgetting about talking for a split second because of the pain he was caused by Liam's but
The exact day came and the thugs who had been sent to vandalize the plaza and kill people were taken aback upon seeing a party going on with over three thousand people, both in and outside the plaza. It was even hard for one person to make their way into the plaza because of the population. Not only well-known musicians were invited to perform, but even prominent people were present with their bodyguards. And some were from different countries. It was hard for these thugs to go on with what they were instructed to do. They had their excavators stopped a few blocks away from the plaza since hundreds of cars were lined up in front of the plaza.'Have you started?' Hunter asked the leader from the phone."There's a problem here," The man responded as he scanned through the place. All the eleven excavators were packed at one side.'What could that be?' Hunter inquired after a short pause of silence."Someone is hosting a party and they invited thousands of people to attend. As it stand
"Our plan was unsuccessful," Hunter dropped this when Gibson joined them at the table."It's all your fault," Charlotte lashed out."Now you're accusing me?" Hunter stared at her with total disbelief."You could've devised another plan when you were told about the men in black suits," she gritted out. There was this butler who seemed to be lingering on their table more than normal."Get out," Charlotte snapped, with impatience."S-s-sorry, miss," he apologized and bowed his head before hurrying out of the bedroom with his tray."No one called to inform me about them," Hunter continued right after the butler shut the door."Guess they were beaten to a pulp before they could even pick up their phones," Charlotte picked up her glass of wine and slurped it in one gulp."I know it's all Avery Duffer, she works for the CIA after all," Hunter's face immediately contorted in anger."She needs to be taught a lesson," Charlotte growled, not even hiding her hatred for the young woman."Calm dow
"We need to get the gold out," Liam said when they gathered for the meeting later that evening."And how should we even do that?" Inquired Samuel as he pulled out a chair to join them on the table."There's got to be a lot of ways, now that we know who the real culprit is," Liam put his fisted hand on the table as he stared from one person to the other.Big Tony looked normal even after he had seen the pictures, and heard his uncle's voice from the audiotape. He acted completely non-challenge as if it was none of his business that his uncle had betrayed them."They're plotting to demolish the building at night when all shop owners are gone. Except five men sleep in their shops and now, we need to save these people. As well as take the gold out." Avery chipped in."There should be another way to stop them from demolishing the building right after we get the gold." Samuel Roderick said."And what could it be?" Liam stared at him with interest. So far he had been helpful."Something whi
The rest of the week was spent taking the gold from where it was kept underground. Every night, Liam and his companions would sneak into shop number three on the Plaza to take the gold but by bits. It was hard, but they knew they wouldn't relent. They would put the gold in bags and then carry them out, whilst Avery would put them in her car boot. Things were done that way because Liam didn't want the gold to be with him since Gibson was a threat. Although Avery turned Liam down for the second time, she still joined hands to work with him. The gold was kept in her room, and she slept on top of it every night, after taking her bed out and putting the sheet covers on top of the gold and making it seem like a bed. Avery Duffer was a better guard of the gold than anyone else. Since Samuel Roderick was sneaky and Big Tony was just himself. Nonchalant as always. No one could gain access to Avery's room. She set a code only she could crack. So even Liam couldn't get the gold out except Ave
Out of all the three enemies, Gibson was the first to arrive at the abandoned warehouse, hoping to see this anonymous person face to face. He deliberately didn't tell Charlotte and Hunter about the gold because he didn't trust them. His whole plan was to take the one trillion worth of gold and leave the city with his family."Anyone out here?" Gibson looked through the abandoned warehouse, hoping to see the person."Just wait for five minutes, I'll be out," the synthetic voice rang out. And a shudder ran through Gibson's spine because this instilled fear in him. It was clear that this person was extremely smart, using a different means to communicate with him.Gibson flicked his hair backward and patiently waited, all he could think about was getting the gold out right before Charlotte and Hunter would know about it. And after this, they would think it was Liam who successfully took the gold out because he was seen standing next to the gold in the photo sent to him by the anonymous gen
"Isn't it funny how the three of you were trying to betray each other because of the gold?" The anonymous person asked."What do you mean?" Hunter could be seen frowning in absolute confusion."I texted you three separately, struck a deal with you three, and you all agreed to meet me here, without notifying each other about the message. I thought you three were a group. Woah, what a team you are," explained the person behind the voice."You moron, I'll make sure you pay for this," Charlotte threatened as turned her head in different directions and angles, trying to know the exact spot the voice was coming from, but it was impossible."Mark my word, I'll make you pay!" She bellowed at the top of her lungs."The same way you killed my father?" The voice inquired before scoffing bitterly. And it seemed like there was a change of voice. Because this one sounded human. Masculine and even familiar."Wait a minute," Hunter exchanged a look with Charlotte and Gibson. They were all perplexed to
