"I'm sorry but I have to do this," Detective Maverick held up his handcuffs and swiveled his head in Liam's direction in the back seat of the car. Two police cars just dropped by at his old apartment to conduct a search, if cyanide poison could be found.

Wordlessly, Liam raised his hands and they were handcuffed by the detective before he was pulled out of the car. They didn't want him to move or touch anything while they searched his apartment.

He was helpless and didn't know how else he could defend himself when his most trusted person told lies with his name, and then Doctor Beisten.

Liam felt broken but his outward appearance didn't show it because of how perfectly he controlled the expression on his face.
