23 Not Loving Shirley

"Just come in, don't be shy!"

"Is your husband home?"

"Of course he is, he lives here."

Marcel was mopping the kitchen floor when he heard Shirley's voice with her male friend. If it weren't for his own limitations, he would have divorced his wife.

"Marcel, make us a drink!" Shirley ordered when she realised Marcel's presence.

"I've washed all the cups," Marcel replied. "You can make your own, want tea? Coffee? We have everything."

Shirley's male friend laughed slightly when he heard Marcel's words.

"You are ... don't embarrass me in front of my friends," Shirley said with offence.

"You should be embarrassed," Marcel snapped. "You're married, but you go around with your male friends like this."

Shirley looked at Marcel even more fiercely.

"I'm starting to get a little crazy now," she said as she girded her loins. "What is your status here? My husband, who says?"

Marcel looked back at Shirley.

"So I'm not your husband?" he said coldly. "Okay, then don't ask me again. Just do everything
