Ethan woke up the next day and rolled into a sitting position on his 60 by 80 inches queen-sized bed.
He stared at the ceiling and for a brief moment admired the beautiful POP ceiling designs illuminated by the diamond-shaped chandelier.
He got up and took a walk to the window and looked through the window pane at a vibrant city littered with middle-class working men. He stared at those on construction sites a few meters away, as they laughed, drank beer, and made use of heavy machinery.
He looked down on the street and took a glance at businessmen and women running behind time and the performers by the road playing to the emotions of passers-by with the hope of getting some cents out of them.
It was a beautiful city for those in power and wealth. He had never seen the city from this view before. And since his ascent up the ladder of social class, he had been too busy to enjoy this view. This was the first time since he could remember that he didn't feel like everything was against him.
The sun rose beautifully aligning horizontally to his eye view. Excited by the calmness the view gave him, he got his phone out and took a picture of this incredible view. He stared at it shortly and made it his wallpaper.
Famished and ready to get to the Emerald Estate, he walked to the brightly lit kitchen to prepare himself something to eat when he was told, “Sir, your breakfast is on the table in the dining”.
“Thank you” he replied, as he walked away from the busty melanin chef with a blonde wig on her head.
Ethan walked into the dining room and sat on the chair at the head of the table where a gold-colored porcelain plate in a gold tray was covered. He looked over at the cabinet hutch where he saw a reflection of himself and thought to himself, ‘Could this be me?’
Ethan opened his plate to scrambled eggs and toast, poured himself a cup of coffee, and dug in to eat.
When he was done eating, he walked up to his room and had a steamy bath, got dressed, and headed for Emerald Estate to meet with Tony.

David Graham walked into the enormously sophisticated office plaza in Emerald Estate. He stared at the edifice and muttered to himself, ‘I, David Graham will get this spot. I must.
“You're welcome to Emerald Estate! Your need is our command!” they chorused as they welcomed him.
Beaming with pride and smiles, he walked up to the receptionist and demanded, “Call your manager”
“Good morning sir, please how may I help you?” the receptionist answered, looking up at David leaning over the counter.
“How may you help me? In your life and the next, you can never help me. Call your manager” David retorted with a sting in his tone and a face that questioned the possibility of her ever being in a position to help him.
She picked up the phone and called the manager, not wanting any trouble from this strange man who was trying to make her job difficult for her.
“Hello, sir? There's a Mr…” She paused as she turned to look at David with her left hand covering the mouthpiece of the telephone and asked, “Sir, please what did you say your name was?”
“David Graham, tell him to hurry up” David barked.
“A Mr. David Graham is here to see you, sir”. She stated as she continued the call with her manager, ignoring the comment David just made.
Once the call was disconnected, she stood up and faced David who grew impatient, and with a smile, she said, “He'll be with you shortly. In the meantime, please have a seat and feel free to help yourself to any of our chocolates as you wait, thank you”
“Do you think I'm as poor as you are? Do you believe I left my house just to snack on cheap sweets? These low lives don't have a limit to their delusions. First, you want to help me and now you're making me wait. I'll have you removed, today!” David yelled out while pointing his fingers at the receptionist.
“Good morning sir, please I'm sorry for her foolishness, I'd have had her removed but she just started working here today. Please forgive her”. A calm deep voice came from the edge of the counter towards David.
David turned to see a fair man of average height who was slightly overweight and wearing a black shirt and a pair of trousers with a brown leather belt and a brown pair of suede shoes.
“You must be the manager,” David said as he stretched out his hand for a handshake.
“Mr. David Graham, a pleasure to meet you,” the manager said as he shook hands with David.
“I believe the deal we have still stands?” David asked as they walked to a secluded office.
“Yeah. Did you bring the documents I requested?” The manager reassured David.
“Yes, I'm here to give the required documents, just as a formality for when you announce me as the winner.” David gloated.
“I will do my part and pass your name as the winner and you'll do yours by giving me 30% of your earnings from every job. It's a fair deal.” The manager said with a smile as he took the documents and escorted David out.
“You really should do something about the people you employ, that girl is bad for business. If I didn't know you, I would have stormed out of here” David advised the manager.
“If she doesn't learn quickly, I will remove her. That attitude will be bad for business. Thank you for coming around, rest easy knowing you'll be called as the winner” the manager reassured David as he got into his car and sped off.
The manager walked back into the building and beckoned to the Receptionist. He looked at her shirt to see her name tag, and then he said, “Emma, is it?”
“Yes sir” Emma replied looking down humbly
“Well Emma, you won't be told everything, learn with your eyes and be smart enough to observe. Your sluggish and annoying attitude will not be tolerated. One strike and you're out. Emerald Estate has no place for fools unwilling to learn” he stated with a condescending look as he continued.
“Get these files to my office before the close of work today. If you forget that, just send in your resignation letter from home. I won't take excuses” he dropped the files on the counter and headed for his office when he turned to see that Emma, whom he was talking to wasn't in her seat.
Ethan arrived at the Emerald Estate at almost the same time David Graham left. He wasn't dressed in the wealth he had. He had gotten used to dressing simply and quite frankly, didn't see the need.He was still greeted with the chorused chants from the Emerald Estate greeters, “You're welcome to Emerald Estate! Your need is our command”.He smiled and noted that the customer care here was quite good. He proceeded into the building where he was awe-struck by a beautiful fair lady who was bathed in saliva coming from the mouth of an angry man he thought to be a disgruntled customer. He walked towards the receptionist counter to inquire what the issue could be but to his surprise, he was met with a smile and a bow from this pretty damsel who voiced out beautifully, “You're welcome to Emerald Estate, how may I be of help to you today?”He checked himself and was sure that he wasn't dressed as the wealthy man that he was, so he wondered why she gave him such a humble reply with rapt attent
THE GRAHAM MANSIONDavid Graham honked at the gate of the mansion as he listened to “All I Do Is Win” by DJ Khaled. The gate was opened and he drove into the compound and parked in front of the house, opened the door of his car, and increased the volume of the song.He was joined shortly by Claire and Eric Graham who watched him dance heartily. He turned down the volume when he noticed them standing by the door and filled with so much joy he screamed, “It's done! I've finalized the deal today and I'm so certain that I've won the spot. The announcement will happen in a few days but it's done!"Eric and Claire hugged him warmly and looked at him with so much pride and happiness as they have always wanted to own a spot in the heart of the city and the most thriving plaza in Beryl City, ‘the Emerald Estate’. His win meant a lot for them.“I'm proud of you my boy, you've made the family name soar higher than ever,” Eric said as he held David's shoulder with his eyes fixed on him. They walk
The Emerald Estate Hall, the biggest hall in Beryl City was decorated with sparkling lights with beautiful floral arrangements adorning the elegant edifice that was a hall.Only guests with special invite cards were ever allowed entry into the hall for an event. It was an event that had the elites in Beryl City fighting their way to score invites. Most of them were bounced at the gate despite their high standing in the community.Getting an invite or access to the hall has always been a bragging rights privilege, as Government officials from neighboring cities looked forward to hosting their events there.David, Eric, Claire, Melissa, and Jason came as the Graham family and were so excited to be in the hall for the first time after they had been trying to get in for years. They didn't bring Sarah along because they deemed her unfit to be called a Graham and made jokes about what a failure she was."It is magnificent here. Take a look at the expensive art pieces that decorate the walls
They followed the guards down the stairs and their seats were shown to them.Claire and Melissa had to go to the restroom to adjust their outfits, touch up their makeup, and come out like the queens they believed themselves to be.Eric looked around from his table for Ethan, hoping to vent his anger on Ethan and put Ethan in his place but Ethan was out of sight.Eric pondered on how Ethan managed to get into a place like this.“Could he be a waiter here?”“But he wasn't dressed like the other waiters”Eric kept thinking and slipping into confusion, unaware of when Claire and Melissa joined them back at the table. David slammed his fists on the table and said, "They're all going to regret this after an official statement that I've gotten the spot has been made."The loud bang from David startled Eric and brought his attention back as he took a look into the crowd and noticed that the guests were still laughing and sharing giggles targeted at the Grahams for the embarrassment they just
The once peaceful hall was thrown into a capital of chaos. The press present had their best ratings thanks to the shamelessnes of David in his refusal to accept defeat.“Grahams on the loose” that was the headline on every news station and radio station. Graham's refusal to evacuate the Emerald Estate as instructed was met with different takes by those present.“How shameless can they be?”“They probably believed he'll win”“How sad”“I wouldn't wish even my enemy to be them right now”“I'm not leaving here until I get what's rightfully mine! Call your manager, I insist!” David's voice echoed, leaving the hall in pindrop silence.Everyone froze as if time itself had asked them to halt and watch keenly for the unfolding of these events to come. The shutter sound from cameras capturing the moment was followed by the sound of heels coming out from the door on the stage. Each step echoed and encouraged suspicion as to who this figure in a long red fitted gown, with a red shade of lipstick
Eric and Claire stared begrudgingly at David. Eric curled his fists and bit down on his lower lip to restrain himself.Eric held onto Claire as he walked hastily towards the car to hide from the cameras.Jason leaned his hands over Melissa's shoulder as he limped by her side into their car.Eric opened the front passenger door for Claire to get in. He turned to get into the car, took a pause and stared at David as David tried to get into the car with them, “Young man, where are you going? I'm not going to be riding in the same car as a disgraceful human.” Eric said coldly and spat on the floor in front of David as he got into his car and drove off speedily. The tires screeched and the smoke from the exhaust filled the air in front of David.David turned to Melissa to hug her and apologize but she stopped him with a raise of her hand as she opened the door for Jason to get in as he was still sore from the beat down he just endured. She turned to the driver's seat, stood by the door an
Sarah went over to Jack's place as they had planned to meet up with Ethan at a popular billiard hall to hang out and play some pool.Sarah knocked on Jack's door and within a few seconds, it was pulled open."You're here already?" Jack said, not expecting Sarah to be this early."Duhh" Sarah rolled her eyes at the obvious question he just asked."Let me get my keys and be right out, so we'll be on our way." Jack said as he went back inside to his key rack, got his keys, came out and locked the door as Sarah waited for him outside."Alright. Let's be on our way" Jack said as he held the door of the car open for her to get in."Took you long enough." Sarah said hopping in.In less than 15 minutes, they arrived at the same time Ethan arrived, but Ethan came with a guest."'Sup Jack. Did you see what happened to the Grahams?" Ethan couldn't hold his amusement as he bro-hugged Jack."You should've seen the look on their faces when they got home. Priceless." Sarah added in as she giggled."
The sun rays shone into Ethan's room, jolting him from his deep slumber. He dragged himself from the comfort of his bed, into the bathroom to get ready. His personal chef had already cooked up bacon and eggs with orange juice for breakfast. After breakfast, Ethan decided to take a stroll round the streets of Beryl City, to admire the beauty of the city.He never really had the time or patience to waste admiring the city when he was either running around looking for a job or trying to please his ex-wife, Melissa and her family.Taking a stroll now felt like a breath of fresh air after being choked up for a while.Whilst taking the stroll, some poor kids came around Ethan to beg for some money to buy food to eat and Ethan said to them,"There's a food truck on that side of the road, let's see what we can get to eat from there". Ethan said, holding their hands and helping them cross the road to the other side of the street where the food truck was parked.Apparently, it was one of Tasty
